Chapter 200: Against A Tier III
Seeing the incident in front of him, Grace was the first to react. Using [Dash], he reached Olivia in an instant and used his shield to block the second spit of the monster.
The spit landed on the Rocky shield, it tried to chew threw it but there was a layer of mana separating both of them. The spit slipped from the shield and landed on the surface of the cave...
Sizzle....
Smoke began to appear as the acid chewed throw the rock.
"Raina, quick..." Panicking, he called for Raina while creating a layer of a Mana shield around himself and Olivia.
To keep the monster’s attention away from Olivia and Grace, Kamal began to use rapid fire. No matter how much he tried none of his arrows was able to pass the strong resistance of the monster.
To further help Kamal in his endeavor, Elera, the mage of the group, quickly cast a firewall between the monster and their group. Knowing that she wouldn’t be able to damage the monster in front of him, she instead tried to abstract her vision.
Finally, this move of hers had some effect, as the spider was forced to stop attacking the duo with the acidic spit.
Noticing that her teammates were trying their best to give her some time, Raina quickly acted. Feeling that mana might not be enough, she began to drink multiple bottles of mana potion while running toward Olivia.
Before reaching Olivia, she was seventy percent of her maximum mana capacity once again.
"Intermediate Heal,"
"Lesser Regeneration,"
"Lesser Wound Patch."
One after another, Raina continued to cast spells to heal her leader as much as possible. After a few more spell castings, she finally noticed that the pain in her face had dimmed quite a bit.
As soon as Olivia’s pain subsided, she became unconscious
Before Elera could even heave a sigh of relief, the monster was already upon them. Without having a second thought, the spider lifted its sharp legs and attacked where Olivia was lying.
For some strange reason, it was hell-bent on killing her.
Grace once again used all his strength to relocate his massive shield as soon as possible; the Uncommon shield of his was strong enough to tank the hit of the monster, but he knew that it wouldn’t be long before it would break.
"We won’t last long like this; Kamal, you should retreat with Olivia and try to search for Thala or any of his teammates," while tanking hits from the monster, he quickly ordered Kamal to retreat.
"No, I won’t go anywhere. They should already be around us; there won’t be any...." Without completing his words, he loaded another arrow on his bow.
’Stunning Arrow.’ Sending some mana to his arrow, Kamal fired them toward the spider. Flying at an incredible speed, the arrow hit the monster.
Even though it had bounced off the body, the effect of the arrow had already transferred. The monster was forced to stop its barrage on Grace as it got stunned forcing it to remain standing in its location.
"Quickly, Elera, it would only be stunned for five seconds. Attack it with the strongest spell you can cast in this time frame," Kamal told her about his skill, while he began to load another arrow.
’Inferno Lance will only take me three seconds to cast and its effect is quite good as well’ Thinking about this, Elera began to manipulate her mana toward the staff on her hand
’One... Two... The...’
Before the timer even reached the three-second mark, the monster turned her face and stared directly at Elera. Looking at the monster directly in its eight eyes, she shuddered... this little mistake of hers caused the almost complete blueprint to become unstable.
"Shit..."
Before she could even reflect on the mistake she had just made, the spider had thrown something towards her. In just a matter of seconds, she was covered in a layer of sticky web. She couldn’t break the web no matter how much she tried.
"Fuck..." Cursing under his breath, Kamal and Grace both ran toward Elera, trying to save her from the attack the monster was about to commence.
Puuuuchhh!
’Not her... Not her..’ Kamal’s heartbeat began to rise as he saw that there was no way in hell he could stop the next acidic spit of the monster.
Nooooo..." Kamal cried out as he closed his eyes when the attack was just tens of centimeters away from reaching her. He didn’t have the strength to watch her melt away.
A few seconds later, when there was no sound of pain, Kamal quickly opened his eyes, tears blurring his vision and because of this he was unable to see what was happening.
Before he could see anything, a voice reached his ear...
"Is this what you had learned, to close your eyes in front of a monster."
When the blurriness of his eyes went away, he saw that between him and Elera now lay a layer of wood barrier. The acid was still eating away the wood, but he knew that the magician of his group should be safe.
"Quickly go around Olivia and cast a barrier." The voice rang once again.
Because he was worrying about Elera, he hadn’t noticed the voice before, but now... now he instantly recognized whose voice it was.
"Old man..."
"Yes, it is me... others are also on their way. Quickly go around Olivia." The old man repeated while manipulating his mana.
’The spider isn’t attacking after noticing me... is it being hesitant? This one could think quite nicely.’ The old man came to a conclusion as he observed the monster in front of him.
Drawing a deep breath, he raised his hand, unleashing a powerful spell aimed straight at the monster’s head
Looking at the spell, the monster didn’t even bother to put up a barrier, nor did it try to dodge.
Boooooom!!
Spraaat!!
The wooden spear struck the monster’s abdomen with incredible speed, but upon hitting its sturdy exoskeleton, the wood shattered into multiple pieces.
Activating his mana sense, the old man checked the tier of the monster once again.
’So, a normal attack isn’t even able to scratch the monster. It isn’t a tier 3 without any merit, I guess...’ The old man joked as he cracked his knuckles.
"Well, I’ve got a monster form as well. Be proud that you are the first one to witness it..." A rarely seen smirk appeared on the old man’s face.
Here goes nothing...’ Taking a deep breath he sends a minuscule amount of mana to the Mark.
