Chapter 123: Planning for the third quest
"Welcome back, my lord," Lyra said as she bowed to Dhruv, who was walking toward the island. Behind him were the others, walking at a relatively slow pace to avoid stepping in front of Dhruv.
Dhruv nodded and stood beside her. He looked at everyone else and instructed them to continue walking toward the island. Then, he turned to Lyra and said,
"Lyra, there are people who wish to be with us as well. Explain to them what they have to do and what not to do, okay?"
"Of course, my lord," Lyra nodded and was about to walk toward the group to inform them of the rules. However, before she could take a few more steps, she heard Dhruv calling her. She turned and stopped, ready to listen.
"Where are we to unload the food we brought?" Dhruv asked her.
Listening to the question, she stood silent for a moment, then opened her mouth.
"While you were gone, the tribe had cleared some part of the prison. If there is enough space, the food can be stored there. If not, we will quickly clear an area large enough for that," she explained. While they were gone, the tribesmen hadn’t just idly sat around; they had been working.
Dhruv understood everything and was about to say something, but he was interrupted when he heard someone shouting.
"Ughhh! There are monsters here..." were the words he could make out.
"W-What?!" a man tried to see through the darkness of the night. When he finally saw something, he stumbled and dropped onto his ass, muttering, "..Y-yes, there really are monsters here..." He confirmed the old woman’s words.
He quickly understood something and said,
"..B-but why aren’t they attacking us.." he blurted out in confusion.
"Because they are tamed by one of our members," he heard the sound of someone.
He quickly turned around to see who was speaking and found out that it was Dhruv whose voice they had heard. Dhruv quickly began to explain to them about Azarex’s class and its application. This time, he didn’t hide the fact that they were undead.
After five minutes of explanation, everyone was satisfied and began to settle in. Alaric had already distributed the tents, so they began to set up those things.
Seeing them set up tents, Dhruv began to move toward the area which the tribe had cleared. After reaching the prison, he found that they had cleared quite a large area. The front gate and an area of almost ten meters behind it were cleared, with nothing in between.
The area at the front gate was in very bad shape because all the monsters from the wave had to stop there, and they had turned the wall and the gate into a mess. Due to the fighting between spiders and goblins, there were also many corpses there.
But now, a 50x10-meter area around the gate had been cleared and could be used to store food. The ground was fully plastered, so he didn’t have to worry about insects as well.
Dhruv called Alaric, and with the help of Azarex’s undead, they began to set up the food cans there. After unloading all the food cans, Dhruv began to think of a solution for the water.
Although the people could directly drink from the bucket, Dhruv didn’t want that, as the water could be contaminated. After all, the monsters were using it. Before drinking it, he at least wanted to heat it up for that added layer of security.
"But how can I heat the water? It’s not like I can heat the bucket directly," Dhruv thought as he pondered over this question.
He looked around the prison to find anything useful, but he couldn’t find anything suitable. Ultimately, he had to come to a final decision.
...
When everyone finished eating, Dhruv announced that everyone should drink water at the same time so he could keep the spell working for the entire time.
The plan goes like this: Dhruv would first create a water tank big enough to store at least two hundred liters of water at one moment. He would also create a ten very simple tap at the bottom of it to extract water. After that, he would let the water from the bucket fall into it until it was full.
While he was managing the spell, Azarex was using his mana to let the water flow from the bucket. After that, Vexar would heat the water until it was hot enough to kill all the bacteria and germs within.
When this was done, Thala and anyone with the ability to create glass would help in creating containers from which people could drink water. With the help of those containers, everyone else would drink the water ten at a time, and this process would continue until everyone had their fill.
After ten minutes of doing that, everyone had drunk their water and was ready to finish their day by taking a peaceful sleep in the mild breeze of the ocean.
While everyone was getting ready to sleep, Dhruv gathered some of the important citizens of the island for a meeting. In the meeting, there was Dhruv - the leader, and his three guardians, Lyra, Thala, Navi, Bella - the old tribe elder, and a few more members of Lyra’s bodyguards.
When everyone was there, Dhruv opened his mouth and spoke.
"From the very morning tomorrow, we will clear the prison of any rubble and use the intact structures to our use..."
Everyone was nodding...
"Then on, I have found a way to make coins which will be used to further increase your stats..."
While Dhruv was speaking, Alaric cut him off in the middle and said, "Master, I have obtained some coins from killing the boss."
Dhruv nodded and didn’t ask for the coins at that moment. He looked at Lyra and said, "Lyra, could you explain what the third quest will be based upon?"
Lyra nodded and said, "Of course, my lord..." She nodded and turned her head so that everyone could focus on her and continued, "...Although we mainly see the third quest as resource collection, it will also heavily involve fighting, much like the second quest."
"Yes, and that fighting part brings us to what we have to do with the newcomers as well as some members of the tribes," Dhruv said.
