Chapter 111: A profit of half-million
’Who is it?’ the boss thought, growing puzzled by the unexpected knock on the door.
He tried to recall who it could possibly be, as his gang knew not to disturb him at this hour, knowing it was his nap time. After deep thinking, he figured out who this person might be...
’Don’t tell me this is Simon,’ he realized the person at his door might be Simon, who had come to lend the coins he had collected from the people.
’Don’t come here fool, otherwise, he could snatch the coin from you and I sure be dead tomorrow if that happened.’ he thought but there was no way to transfer his words. He thinks about dying tomorrow because he still thinks that he has a chance of survival when he observes Alric’s demeanor.
Knock! Knock!
But before he could say anything, the shield in front of him vanished, and Alaric signaled him to allow the man to enter the room and continue doing what he wanted, without mentioning him.
"FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!" he cursed his luck in his mind, but after a moment a smile plastered all over his face. He quickly changed his entire body language as well within ten seconds. Now he looked like someone who hadn’t been begging just a minute ago.
"Come in," he exclaimed.
Screech!
As if it were a scene from a horror movie, the door opened with a loud screech, and a man in his twenties entered the room, wearing a smile.
"Yoo! Danny, what took you so long?" the man asked as he stepped into the room.
"Ohhh! you know what time it is, and I was taking a nap," the boss replied confidently.
Simon nodded, already familiar with Danny’s schedule. He moved closer to him and said with a smile,
"We had an increase of 50,000 CC from the last time. I guess the new lamb we captured is really efficient, but I’m telling you, there’s something shady about them..."
"How much was the total collection?" Danny asked directly, getting straight to the point. He knew there was no escaping this, so he wanted to get it over with as soon as possible.
Simon wanted to say, "Guess?" but when he remembered his position, he restrained himself.
"A total of 495,000 CC," he said with a happy smile.
He moved closer, touched his hand to Danny’s, and transferred all his coins to him. He stepped back, about to discuss the matter concerning the people who would come tomorrow but stopped when he heard a ringing sound...
Ding! Ding! Ding!
"It is time to res..." Simon was about to comment when he heard a voice coming from behind him.
"A truly astounding amount, yet it wouldn’t be able to buy your life."
The moment he heard the sound, a spark of horror surged through his entire body. His instinct took over and he quickly drew his gun from his holster and pointed it in the direction where he had heard the sound coming from.
Slash!
Before he could pull the trigger of the gun, something slashed him vertically, cutting him in half.
"Wh..." Before he could form a proper sentence, his body, or rather his half-body, fell on separate sides.
From the blood that sprayed, Danny’s table and face were both covered in blood.
The look of horror was plastered on Danny’s face, and he couldn’t even breathe, no matter how much he tried.
He quickly realized the dire situation he was in and attempted to cast a spell. Alaric could finish him, but to know how he fared against a Tier 3 human he gave him enough time to complete his incantation.
Danny lifted his hand into the air and said,
"Chains of Slowness."
The moment he uttered those words, five chains made of an unknown material began to materialize from the ground, attempting to capture Alaric.
Pftttt!
Alaric laughed at Danny’s futile attempt and turned himself ethereal. When the chains couldn’t find anything solid in his targeted area, they quickly dissolved into the ground.
"Why didn’t you attempt to cast another spell in the meantime?" Alaric asked Danny, genuinely curious. If he had been in Danny’s place, he would have surely cast another spell when the target was trying to escape his previous one.
Danny was momentarily at a loss for words and wanted to restart the whole situation. However, Alaric had received a message from someone, and he no longer had time to play with this boss.
[Yes, master,] he quickly replied telepathically to Dhruv’s order, which had just been conveyed to him.
He looked at the boss and approached him. When he reached him, he touched one of the boss’s hands with his tentacles and whispered, "Please follow the second rule of yours," while winking.
Danny instantly understood what he meant and swiftly transferred all his coins to Alaric. Noticing that the number was greater than what the man had just mentioned, Alaric smiled slightly.
Snap!
The boss couldn’t see Alaric smile but only saw him snap one of his tentacles as he began to dive into the shadow of the table.
"Goodbye."
Those were the last words he heard from Alaric.
Danny thought he had survived, but he quickly realized he had been mistaken. The same shield had once again surrounded him, but this time there was one significant change: the barrier was shrinking in size with each passing second.
Fuck! Fuck!
He panicked and cursed, desperately trying to stop the shrinking shield with all his might. Being a mage, he had always focused on a class heavily invested in magical power, and he lacked the physical strength needed to stop the shield. If only he had 50 more levels of strength, he might have had a chance to survive.
Crack! Crack!
Slowly but surely, the shield began to crush Danny. His organs, flesh, blood, and bones were all began to compress mercilessly.
Danny couldn’t comprehend why he was still alive, but he was. The torture continued until his head was crushed, bringing an end to his existence.
...
A notification sounded in his mind as Alaric emerged from the shadows.
[You have killed a human, Advance Dream Mage.]
[You have earned...]
[....]
He ignored the notification and communicated with Dhruv through telepathy.
[I’m in the sleep chamber, Master,] he conveyed mentally as he looked at the peacefully sleeping people.
