Chapter 173: Chapter 173 - Chaos Room Spell

Theo glanced at his phone again.

Barely a few minutes had passed, still giving him plenty of free time before the arena opened up.

’Let’s see if Elise wants to train me,’ he thought, nodding slowly. ’Definitely need some spells for my chaos element.’

After sending the message, Theo put away his phone.

He stretched his arms behind his head, then began walking towards the training area.

Many eyes landed on him after only a few steps.

’’Isn’t that him?’’

’’Yeah, that’s the silver core, Theo.’’

’’I saw his fights yesterday—’’

Theo quickly walked past all of them.

Despite all the rumors and fame he was gaining... he just didn’t really feel anything for fame.

It just felt superficial and useless to him.

’Well, outside a few opportunities,’ he thought. ’Only with fame can I be selected for the worldwide competitions after all.’

But those were still a long time away.

After a few minutes, he arrived at the large building housing the training rooms.

As the door shifted open in front of him, he couldn’t help but notice the empty room.

’Seems like Elise isn’t here yet...’

He threw his bag with his spear and umbrella aside before sitting down.

As he waited, his gaze drifted to the air.

’’System,’’ he called out quietly. ’’Show me the cooldown, please.’’

Immediately, a transparent window popped up in front of him.

[Time until completion: 11:40:12]

He paused for a moment.

Then flicked the screen away again.

’Truly not much time left,’ he thought, smiling. ’I wonder what it’ll bring me.’

Click!

Theo snapped out of his thoughts.

The door slowly shifted open, revealing Elise’s figure.

As the door shifted shut behind her, Theo couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.

’What’s going on here?’

She barely even glanced at him.

’’So,’’ her voice echoed out far colder than normal. ’’What do you want to learn?’’

Theo blinked.

He quickly cleared his throat and stood up.

’’Chaos magic, please.’’

Elise’s expression didn’t change one bit.

She just nodded and waited for him to come over.

A serious expression appeared on Theo’s face as he walked over.

’Whatever the reason may be,’ he thought. ’It’s not my business to pry into.’

He stopped right in front of her and nodded.

’’We’ll start with redirection,’’ Elise said, staring at him coldly.

She reached into her small bag and pulled out a pretty old manual.

Without another word, she tossed it over to him.

Barely catching it, Theo couldn’t help but look at her bewildered.

’’Read that.’’

’’Then try it.’’

With that, she walked away to the resting chairs.

’Phew,’ Theo thought, eyes wide. ’Definitely in a foul mood.’

He glanced down at the book, tilting his head slightly.

’’Chaos Room?’’

The next hour passed by in complete silence.

Theo read through the Chaos Room spell manual while occasionally sneaking a few glances at Elise.

But no matter how much time passed, the foul and cold expression remained.

Letting out a deep breath, Theo finally slammed the book shut.

’I can’t believe it worked like that,’ he thought. ’Chaos spells... truly are something else.’

The Chaos Room wasn’t a metaphor.

It was quite literally a room, except inside your Chaos Affinity.

When using the spell, the user opens up a door to that room and just lets the enemy spell enter.

Once the spell is inside, it continues flying to the other side of the room at varying speeds.

There, the user can create another door and make the spell fly out anywhere in reality.

’This must be what Adrian used back then too.’

Theo couldn’t help but smile as he thought about it.

That particular spell had been the reason why he’d become so interested in the Chaos element in the first place.

Letting out a soft sigh, he leaned back.

’I’ll take a quick break to process everything,’ he thought. ’Then I’ll get started on training it.’

The room fell completely silent.

As seconds ticked by, Theo couldn’t help but glance at Elise.

She was still sitting exactly where she’d been an hour ago.

Her arms were crossed, her legs folded, and her cold eyes just stared emptily into the distance.

’If there’s anything... it’d have to be Alia’s death.’

Her reaction to the envelope had been pretty complicated.

Not to mention the video fragment which the Fifth Calamity had shown.

It must be a real punch in the gut to find out someone close to you had died because of a betrayal, of all things.

Theo glanced up at the ceiling for a moment.

Then he let out a deep breath.

Despite part of him feeling like he should stay out of it, he couldn’t help himself any longer.

’’Is everything alright?’’ he asked quietly.

His voice echoed through the silent room.

Elise’s head snapped toward him, her eyes squinted into thin slits.

For a moment, she just stared at him.

Then she looked away again.

’’Too much bad in a row,’’ her voice echoed out a second later.

Theo frowned slightly.

He understood the Alia situation.

Anyone would be upset about that. Even he still was.

But...

’’The Poison Lord died though,’’ he said. ’’Wasn’t that good news?’’

The moment those words left his mouth, Elise looked at him again.

This time, her expression had become the coldest he’d ever seen.

’’Is that how you see it?’’

Theo blinked, completely caught off guard.

A moment later, Elise let out a sigh.

’’No. That’s the only way you’d be able to see it.’’

Another quiet murmur followed.

’’The Hunters Association did a perfect job in that aspect.’’

Theo stared at her for a moment.

He couldn’t even remotely understand what she was talking about.

’’What...?’’ he finally muttered.

Elise let out a deep sigh.

She turned to him, her eyes no longer as cold.

’’Do you have any idea how many elite hunters died killing him?’’

’’Or how many more were severely injured, some poisoned so badly that even now no one knows how to heal them?’’

Theo’s eyes widened slightly.

The news broadcasts hadn’t mentioned anything about that.

Even so...

’’Isn’t it still better that he’s dead?’’

Silence fell in the room.

Elise tapped softly against the table, a flicker of hesitation flashing through her eyes.

’’That would have been true,’’ she said quietly. ’’If we’d only just discovered him and immediately decided to kill him...’’

She paused for a moment.

Her gaze slowly drifted to Theo.

"We’ve known where he was and where he was going for years."
