Chapter 50: Increasing Agility And Durability

After finalizing everything his party needed, Max led them to the entrance to the Chamber. He didn’t give them a motivational speech, he saved the energy into fighting.

Max perceived the demonic mana and calculated the amount of time he could last.

Five minutes to stay sane. Ten minutes will demonize me.

Max glanced at the Mireborn Broodmass, who had already produced ten Mire Spawns already and killed them all.

This damn boss. How did Jaden defeat this?

Jaden didn’t mention about taking two weeks and more than ten failures to defeat the local dungeon. They went all out because of the rewards—it was worth it.

It was also the first time that Jaden encountered an anomaly in a dungeon. Purge the Drowned WatchTower was supposed to be at E-rank, but if it was re-assessed by the system, it was already at high-tier D rank.

Every attempt made the difficulty increased, as well. Hence, Jaden, at his last attempt, suspected that the Mireborn Broodmass would evolve by next week if he kept failing.

By then, the local quest would be considered as a failure.

Max gazed at his party members and they were composing themselves, getting accustomed to the terrifying opponent they were about to face.

That gave him enough time to reassess himself.

He asked the system to show his status.

[Name: Maximus Grant

Durability: 11

Intelligence: 55

Skills: Mana Sensitivity (Intermediate), Mana Control (Intermediate), Arcane Bolt (Intermediate), Mana Shield (Basic), Mana Pulse (Basic), Mana Thread (Basic)

Free Stat Points: 23]

Max’s eyes widened, He was thrilled that he had 23 Free Stat Points. It was only reasonable because he kept neglecting the rewards of leveling up.

Killing hundreds, if not a thousand of Mire Spawns alone caused him to level up five times.

Now that he had also level up to Level 48, his mana points elevated to 482 mana points. His mana points had also increased after his body had fully adapted to the current intelligence points and added effects of the title, mana control, and his current equipment.

Max swept his gaze to his stats.

I don’t need to spend a single free stat point on intelligence points. Given by the situation, I must focus on agility and durability.

The agility stats affected his movement speed, casting speed, dodge capability, reaction time, aim precision for targeted spells like Arcane Bolt, and animation recovery between spells.

The durability stats for mages class on the other hand affected his health pool, physical defense, resistance to pain and status effects, and mana strain tolerance and survival against burst damage.

Hence, the strength was the least important, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t significant at all. If he had a heavy staff in the future and his stamina would deplete faster, then increasing the strength stat point was needed.

Max then poured 13 Free Stat Point to his agility and 10 Free Stat Point on his durability.

The system showed his current stats and descriptions of the effects after they were elevated.

[Agility: 41

Your active skills’ casting time has been reduced to a total of 20.5 percent. Your movement speed, casting speed, dodge capability, reaction time, aim precision, and animation recovery has been increased by thirteen percent.

Durability: 21

Your health pool has been increased by 50 health points. You now have 550 health points in total. Your physical defense, resistance to pain and status effects, mana strain tolerance and survival against burst damage has also been improved by ten percent.]

Max was deeply satisfied. Although the accurate data of improvement by other aspects of each of his stat point were vague, it would show once the battle against the Mireborn Broodmass would commence.

Max reassessed himself again, including the effects of his passive skills, titles, and equipments. Eventually, he had a brief idea of his strength, and he was confident he could take down the Mireborn Broodmass.

He glanced at it and his eyes narrowed. He turned towards his party members and distributed his mana potions and stamina potions.

He gave six mana potions to Clara at once. The latter was so surprised that she immediately rejected, worried about him. Max had to assure and remind her that she was the party’s healer—requiring more effort to constantly support the party members with her skills, except him.

Clara reluctantly accepted and hung them on her belt.

Max gave 3 stamina potions Eva and 1 each for Jasper and Ethan.

Max glanced at them and perceived they were already ready for the upcoming battle. He nodded and turned around.

Without hesitation, he took a step and ran towards the Mireborn Broodmass while attacking the Mire Spawns with extreme precision.

[A concentrated demonic mana is attempting to invade your body. You can only hold on for five minutes before the demonic mana will successfully enter inside.]

Max was inwardly relieved.

As soon as he had gotten rid of the Mire Spawns and were getting closer to the Mireborn Broodmass, he assaulted it with two Arcane Caster by dual casting. However, he intentionally off the interval by 0.5 seconds.

To his dismay, the Mireborn Broodmass could regenerate every 0.2 seconds. He really had no other choice but to rely on his party members’ damage.

He signaled for them to finally enter. He planned that once he determined the regeneration recovery rate of the Mireborn Broodmass and was proven difficult to be defeated by him alone, his party members had to join.

Max wouldn’t be surprised if Eva and others couldn’t last a minute because of the low quality of their mana.

As soon as they entered, their faces grimaced. Nevertheless, they gripped their weapons tightly and pushed through the Chamber, getting closer to the Mireborn Broodmass.

Max was already five meters closer to it, dodging the black appendages that emerged from the flooded floor.

The flooded floor at this point was already corrupted with concentrated demonic mana, so it was difficult to determine the location of each black appendages—a mana-thread like existence that was capable of restraining movements briefly...
