Chapter 2174.1: Possession

Lu Xiaochi recovering his cultivation and advancing one step further alarmed many people. All of the great families in Dusk City and numerous hidden experts turned their attention to the Lu Clan.

Apart from Jiang Feng and a few others, most outsiders had gone to the Profound Wing Empire. The allure of a dao weapon was undeniable for fourth and fifth rank empire cultivators. No one expected that Ouyang Shengtian, mere initial nascent soul, would think of challenging the newly ascended Lu Xiaochi at this time. Even more surprising was that Dusk City’s number one prodigal was taking the fight for his second uncle!

It was so inconceivable that heads spun, but many were happy to watch the show. They wanted nothing more than for Ouyang Shengtian to kill Lu Yun and cleanse the capital of its greatest pestilence. It was a common sentiment despite Lu Yun only bothering some of the great families after he’d woken up.

Ouyang Shengtian remained expressionless as his aura increased. Pale-gold true origin surged out of his body like a ball of golden flames.

Lu Yun didn’t care. He formed a sword seal with his hands and split out numerous rays of sword light from the sword beneath his feet. They shot for Ouyang Shengtian.

“A lower rank empire is a lower rank empire after all. You still rely heavily on supplemental dao.” Derision played at the corners of Ouyang Shengtian’s lips.

What was known as supplemental dao were the great daos involving treasure, pill, formation, and talisman. Cultivation was intricately tied to them, hence they were known as the four great supplemental daos.

“Supplemental dao?” Lu Yun’s lips turned upward. Supplemental dao was king.

No one had a clear line of sight into Ouyang Shengtian’s movements. They simply saw radiance fill the sky. Lu Yun’s lower spirit rank weapon exploded with sword light that dispersed as soon as it appeared. The result was normal to the crowd as the Lu young master was just foundation establishment. How could he possibly withstand a nascent soul cultivator?

“Die, Lu Yun!” Ouyang Shengtian shouted coldly and pitched forward, nearly melding into this part of the world.

A ray of sword light abruptly appeared in front of Lu Yun—the will of devastation suddenly filled the land.

“Be careful!” Lu Xiaochi warned his nephew with dismay, but Ouyang Shengtian was moving so quickly that he didn’t have time to maneuver.

Clang!

A ringing from the soul echoed through the air as the terrifying sword light was rebuffed.

“You blocked it! How did you do that?!” Zhao Xuanfeng yelled. Even he wouldn’t have been able to avoid that strike; his upper fine rank weapon would be severely damaged as well.

Lu Yun dismissed the power of yang metal at his fingertips and responded with a slightly wan face, “You aren’t Ouyang Shengtian.”

“That’s not up for you to decide,” Ouyang Shengtian sneered. He raised his sword high again and brought it down on Lu Yun.

Humm!

Ambient energy within the surroundings oscillated with a massive hum as the enormous ray of sword light shot with unstoppable momentum.

It was strength—pure and absolute strength!“Hmph!” Lu Yun snorted, silver radiance once more shooting out of his hand. He waved it into a silver line, one that embedded itself into the void.

Boom!

The tremendous ray of sword light collided with the silver line and caused both to vanish. Lu Yun paled and backed away.

“Ouyang Shengtian does not possess this kind of ability.” Lu Yun calmed the roiling qi inside his body and looked directly at the Ouyang young master.

“Who would’ve thought that the biggest trash of Dusk City would be a hidden expert? I’m rather curious now what kind of person Lu Tianling, the greatest of Dusk City, is.” Ouyang Shengtian was slightly surprised, but didn’t display much emotion on his face. “I am Ouyang Shengtian now.”

Lu Yun regarded the person solemnly. He looked the same as Ouyang Shengtian, but exuded a completely different air. Plainly, someone had taken possession of the young master.

“You strut around in public instead of keeping a low profile after taking Ouyang Shengtian’s body. What, do you think no one can do anything to you?” Lu Yun transmitted contemptuously.

The two had been conversing via transmission, leaving the crowd in the dark about their conversation. It would rock the nation if people knew that the greatest genius of the younger generation had been taken possession by another.

Since he wasn’t Ouyang Shengtian, this person did not have a conflict with Lu Yun. Thus, there was no need for Lu Yun to expose his secret. The new Ouyang Shengtian had likely come with another goal in mind.

“It hasn’t been long since I’ve taken possession of this body. I need a massive fight to grow accustomed to it,” Ouyang Shengtian responded candidly.

Ouyang Shengtian suffered incredible injuries when he activated Bloodbath’s Blood Shadow Flight to flee from the Beast Colosseum. Added to that his defeat at Lu Yun’s hands, an indelible blow had been dealt to his will. That gave this person the chance to swoop in and claim Ouyang Shengtian for himself.

“That’s easy, I’ll keep you company. My second uncle is no match for you.” Lu Yun looked at Lu Xiaochi with a wide grin.

“Are you that confident in yourself?” Ouyang Shengtian blinked. This kid was just foundation establishment. Even if his potential was stunning without parallel, he could at most fight a normal nascent soul cultivator. That wasn’t rare in the world that “Ouyang Shengtian” came from.

The current Ouyang young master was possessed by an unmatched powerhouse. His battle experience was sufficient to sweep nascent soul and soul projection cultivators alike. It was a case similar to Bloodbath. The elder was just latter golden core, but he would trounce soul projection cultivators if the mood seized him.

“I would naturally be no match for you if you’d grown comfortable in this body, but right now, I can provide some amusement,” Lu Yun answered. Since the real Ouyang Shengtian was dead and the person in front of him wasn’t the family’s true enemy, then none of this mattered.

While he couldn’t beat the Ouyang young master in combat, it was an easy thing to scheme the other to death if he wished to.

“That is just as well.” Ouyang Shengtian looked around. Since he’d yet to recover his strength, it was better not to be in the public eye too often.

“Let’s fight outside the city.” Lu Yun set foot onto his flying sword and shot out of the city, Ouyang Shengtian close behind him.

That left Lu Xiaochi standing dumbly where he was, not knowing what to do. His nephew had transmitted a message before he left, telling him not to follow them.

“Don’t worry, second uncle, Lu Yun will be fine.” Mo Qiyue flew up from Lu Yun’s house and smiled at Lu Xiaochi. The Lu second master shook his head ruefully and didn’t say anything.

The disturbance raised by Lu Xiaochi recovering his cultivation was over as swiftly as it arose. Nothing came of it. The law enforcer killing Xu Lang had intimidated both the outsiders and Darklake’s own factions. The Ouyang, Ling, and Yuwen Clans didn’t dare harbor further ulterior motives.

So they said law enforcers wouldn’t deign to move against weaklings? Who were they kidding? Was there a difference between third and fourth rank empires to an awakened cultivator? No one wanted to gamble with their own life.

In this way, some of the latent threats pointed at the Lu Clan were thus erased, but danger was not yet over.

……

One thousand kilometers to the east of Dusk City, a minor mountain now razed to the ground.

Ouyang Shengtian sprawled on the ground and breathed heavily. “Damn, nice kid. If it wasn’t for your core origin and aura being one and the same, I would suspect that you’re also possessed by another immortal.”

The two had fought to a standstill after two hours. It almost made Ouyang Shengtian doubt himself.

Lu Yun’s robes were likewise disarrayed and he responded weakly, “You’re not bad yourself. The nascent soul of a wandering immortal seizing possession of someone else is damned impressive.”

Lu Yun had utilized the power of reincarnation, not possession, to become the Lu Yun of this world. After he lived through three thousand lives, the Lu Yun of this world was his starting point.

Ouyang Shengtian’s expression shifted drastically. Wandering immortals were those whose body had been destroyed and their nascent souls gravely injured. Death was final in that state, so how would they have the chance to seize possession of another?

But Ouyang Shengtian was plainly an exception. He’d come across a fortuitous opportunity and retained a sliver of nascent soul after his body was destroyed, then successfully took possession of another.

The wandering cultivators of the cultivation empires would be thrown into a frenzy if word of this got out. Wandering cultivators were failed immortals—they endured tribulations every thousand years. Each was worse than the one before until the immortal died.

But wandering cultivators… somehow, Lu Yun felt that there shouldn’t be wandering immortals beneath immortal dao. Mm, I need to remember this, I’m sure I can use them somehow in the future. Maybe I can perfect another immortal dao through them.

Lu Yun waved the other off when he noted his expression. “Be at ease. As shocking as possession is, that’s all there is to it.”

Ouyang Shengtian blinked, then roared with laughter. The discomfort he’d felt seconds ago dispersed.

Wandering immortals? Just failures to many people and not worth paying attention to. There was nothing in it for Lu Yun if he spread word of this. Wandering immortals were lofty individuals in the Jade Ruins Realms, but the lowest on the totem pole elsewhere.

Lu Yun being only foundation establishment, but able to evenly match the possessed Ouyang Shengtian answered a lot of questions.

“How comfortable are you with this body now?” Lu Yun changed the topic.

“Eighty percent. Ouyang Shengtian’s foundations are good and I stand a chance of becoming a full immortal with him” The other didn’t give his true name as he was Ouyang Shengtian now.

Lu Yun nodded. Ouyang Shengtian did indeed possess strong potential to receive Bloodbath’s approval and be on par with a connate fragrance constitution.

“As for you… a mere Jade Ruins Realms is no stage for you,” said Ouyang Shengtian.

Lu Yun smiled noncommittally. Although the current Ouyang Shengtian possessed the boy’s memories, he was in essence, a different person. The Ouyang and Lu Clans were enemies, but the Ouyang Shengtian in front of him was not.

“I’ve discovered some interesting things in Ouyang Shengtian’s memories,” the young man smiled mysteriously at Lu Yun.

“It has to do with some powerful faction who has my family in their sights, doesn’t it?” Lu Yun curled his lip.

“So you know,” Ouyang Shengtian paused.
