Chapter 233 233 - Shiny Armor

One after the other, the hordes of golems appeared and turned into various pieces of stone.?In less than a minute, she managed to destroy around four hordes of ten golems, a number of monsters that rivaled some portals.

This reminded Ryan of some of Lyza's stories, when she started out as a traveler it was common for the redhead to defeat portals on her own. The stronger you become, the more portals you need to close in order to climb the rankings.

Taking two steps back, Ryan left the crowd. Ninety followed him a few seconds later, still mesmerized by the girl's skill that they had observed. The two of them had not yet seen all the rooms in the base, but before Ryan could return to his journey, the sound of a scream caught his attention.

He quickly turned his face to watch and slowly walked towards the audience of another training session. It was Alexa, Alice's mother and one of the strongest Travelers in the place.

"Alexandra Lightstone, I hear she's Rank 7," said a huntress who was watching from Ryan's side.

On the other side of the arena was the woman Ryan had seen coming out of the portal. Her gigantic armor wasn't slowing down her mobility one bit; she was easily able to dodge the attacks being launched by Alexa.

The two were battling with intense speed, the objective was simple: attack and defend. This type of training was intended to improve a traveler's reflexes; it wasn't about a duel, it was about who could defend the most attacks.

The speed of Alexa's spells was astonishing. With a single snap of her fingers, she could create more than two hundred Judgement of the Sun spells, each of which could be cast with a difference of milliseconds. Even so, the mysterious warrior was able to defend without showing any fatigue.

"The energy the blonde is concentrating is quite high... Shouldn't that hurt his armor?" Ninety asked Ryan.

Ryan activated the mysterious warrior's window to understand that the maid's doubt was extremely valid.

His eyes passed four buffs that explained it, Vorpal Aura was a skill that increased movement speed. Blessing of the Supreme Priest, on the other hand, nullified any magical attack of the Holy or Light class. Thus, Judgement of the Sun could only cause physical and heat damage, however, Triple Maximise Magic: Greater Magic Seal nullified heat and Absorption was significantly decreasing physical attack.

Touching the shoulder of the hunter next to him, Ryan asked, "Do you know the name of the armor traveler?". The hunter turned around and widened her eyes when she realized she was talking to Ryan Whitemane.

"Y-yeah he's called Monarch"

Looking at that armor, Ryan could only think of what kind of person that girl was.

Looking at that armor, Ryan could only think of what kind of girl she was, the one called Monarch. That girl was amazing in many ways, both in aura and skill. Because of these factors, he wasn't surprised when he found out that she was first in the Ranking, the strongest travaler the guild knew of.

Her level of strength rivaled Rin's and was hundreds of times greater than Lyza's. So, it was at least reasonable for Ryan to take her on. So it was at least reasonable for Ryan to imagine what would happen if he managed to add such a powerful woman to his harem.

'I've never heard her name, so maybe she's not much older... But there are a lot of travelers who prefer to go unnoticed'

Ryan was pensive, but in order not to occupy his mind, he preferred to ask questions when he met Aether or John Wrynn.

In the midst of all the talk, a voice caught Ryan's ear, "So the Monarch is the current rank 1 of the guild? I've never heard of him before," said the hunter.

A gentleman's voice replied, continuing the conversation, "Yes... That boy seems to be a prodigy who was recently found by the guild. Nobody knows much about him, just that he's rather quiet and reserved. He doesn't go on group raids or show up, he just closes as many portals as possible."

The hunter was amused, with a sexual gaze she seemed to want to devour the person inside the armor. Unaware that it was a girl, she moaned as she spoke "I wonder how big he must be... How many portals do you think he can close a day?"

The white-haired old man shrugged, "I have no idea, but if you compare his strength to that of Alexa of the Lightstones... Probably more than two hundred red portals."

That sentence echoed through Ryan's head, like a slap in the face. He wasn't closing red portals, in all likelihood, if he started to increase the level of his training he would be able to reach the level of the girl everyone calls the Monarch.

This constant doubt remained in his mind: how many portals a day could he close? He had no idea. Slowly walking to the edge of the arena, Ryan was sucked into the training.

"How strong is she?" he said, his eyes shining as he observed her skills, undoubtedly a war machine. Alexa had specialized in constant attacks with light magic, which was why the Monarch had invited her to the training session.

Testing her skills, the golden-haired milf launched tens of hundreds of small spheres of light in a random order. Like wisps, the attacks flew towards the Monarch. With the fingers of her silver armor, the woman was able to easily cancel out all the attacks.

When two spheres came at the same time, she used one of her hands to bounce off the Judgement of the Sun, causing the small sphere to hit each other. This skill and precision was astonishing, but what was most striking was the Monarch's ability to alter the path of the attacks.

'She's manipulating Judgement of the Sun's mana... How is that possible?' he wondered.

<'Didn't you do the same with Ezra?>

Ryan nodded, 'It's different, he wasn't controlling his own mana. So I could analyze the magic circles and nullify or modify the magic, plus the spell control was bad, so I could use mana injection to control it... But Alexa is too high level to fall for a simple mistake'

Surprised, he smiled after realizing what was being done. 'She's doing injection connected to magic analysis. She's using her knowledge to assess the structure of that attack and then take control! But in seconds?! How can she do that?

Before he could get a better answer as to how it was happening. The monarch raised her hand, asking Alexa to finish what she was doing.

Instead of speaking a single word, all she did was hold out her hand. Creating a magic circle, the girl began to draw with fire what she wanted to say. This was a surprisingly effective method of maintaining communication without having to reveal her true identity or gender.

Again, Hunter was surprised, "Fire control at this level is something incredible, I didn't realize it was so formidable."

<Is it so amazing to write with fire? >. Nyx asked, the truth was that it really was surprising.

'Yes, to accurately manipulate fire or light you need to have a fairly high understanding of how mana works. That's why most light spells have simple shapes like circles or squares.

Looking at the two guardians talking, Ryan's scarlet eyes were glowing with the desire to get into a confrontation. Suddenly, the girl in the armor turned and pointed at the audience. Holding out her arms, she stared at Ryan, then gestured for him to come closer.

"She wants to... Battle the hero of the black flames?"

"Whitemane. That boy really is a prodigy"

"I didn't realize he could attract so much attention, I heard he barely made the top 100"

"Still, the boy is strong. Maybe he's just not as dedicated to his studies"

Ryan Whitemane was guided by the blue-haired maid with the [ONE] symbol to an elevator. Descending in seconds, the doors opened to reveal the waiting room of the training arena.

"My master the Monarch will be waiting for you, should you wish, the guild is providing coffee and tea at will," said the maid, who turned around waving her sea-colored hair. Seconds later, she returned with a cappuccino with whipped cream.

Sitting waiting, Ryan heard the door open, it was Alexa. "He asked me about you, said he wanted to talk a bit. Don't forget our training," said the golden-haired milf. Seconds after, the girl in the shiny armor walked into the room.
