Chapter 54: God Arm Yui
“Hey, Yui, there’s a photo booth.”
“I’m not interested in that stuff.”
Her reply was cold.
Yuuki has recently started to notice that, in actuality, she was not very JK-like. At first glance, it looked like she says and does things like a typical JK, but she’s a bit off the mark.
“…Why’s that?”
“I mean, you can just take pictures with your phone, so why bother? And for 400 yen1 too? I’d rather buy manga.”
“I see. You’re good at taking selfies, aren’t you?”
“…Have you deleted the photo?”
“I haven’t.”
“Erase it now.”
“There’s no way I’ll erase it.”
It wasn’t like Yui said it was an important item, but nonetheless, she mysteriously glared at him.
When Yuuki didn’t move a step, Yui suddenly lost all of her anger and nodded her head with her signature grin.
“Arere~~? What’s that~? Could it be that it’s Yuuki-kun’s favorite? The cute photo of Yui-chan?”
“Yep yep, I think I’ll set it as my phone wallpaper.”
“Stop, please stop, really.”
He won.
Yui, not wanting to talk about the selfie any more, looked towards the photo booth and said,
“Well… if Yuuki-kun really wants to take a picture, I’m willing to do it.”
“Why me?”
“Cause it’ll be super interesting if Yuuki-kun says ‘I want to use the photo booooth~’.”
“I want to use the photo booth.”
“What’s with that soulless tone?”
“I’m not the one that wants to, it’s Rin.”
He steered the conversation toward Rin, who had been standing beside him the entire him.
When Yuuki and Yui turned to her, Rin’s face turned red and she became furious.
“I-I didn’t say that! Why are you d-deciding that on your own?!”
She definitely looked like she wanted to take a picture, so why would she say that?
When he tried to head to the restroom, Yui quickly stepped in between them.
“Ah, are you the interpreter for Rin language~? Do you have the proper qualifications~?”
Why can’t she understand the language, even though it’s so simple?
It might be faster for him to go to the bathroom for Yui after all.
“No, that’s…”
“Rin-chan wouldn’t be interested in a vulgar thing like a photo booth, right? I know veeeery well.”
“If you say that, you’ll make a bunch of people angry, though?”
“Ehh~ isn’t that right though? Right? Rin-chan?”
“Y-yep, that’s right, that’s right. It can’t be helped.”
With that said, Rin poked the corner of the booth lightly with her toes.
It would be better to call a clerk and get angry.
“Ignore the photo booth already, let’s go look over there~?”
Yui turned around to her right and wandered away from the photo booth corner.
Rin stood there with an indescribable expression on her face as she watched Yui’s back. He felt like he needed to speak up.
“What have you been doing?”

Rin held her head and let out a weird voice.
It was painful to see that Rin’s fixated on Yui. It was probably due to the accumulation of all the things that happened in the past.

Rin went over to the corner with crane games.
Yui, who had been looking at the inside of the glass, beckoned Yuuki over with a smile.
When he went over and peeked in with Rin, they found several palm-sized plushies lying around.
She pointed to one of them, a panda plushy.
“Look, look. Isn’t it cute?”
“Cute…?”
“It’s cute. It makes me wanna poke its head.”
Aside from Yui’s unintelligible speech, Yuuki was also familiar with the stuffed animal.
Mizuna had once obtained a similar key chain at a supermarket’s gacha.
He remembered that she persisted until she got a panda.
Mizuna also wanted a plushy, but she doesn’t go to arcades because it was full of monsters.
“Ah, that’s the one Mizuna likes.”
“Eh~ I see. Let’s get Mizuna-chan a souvenir.”
“Can you get it?”
“Hehe, I’ll show you the power of God Arm Yui.”
Yui threw in a hundred yen coin.
Even though she was hesitant about the photo booth, her wallet was bloated.
Yui bent down and made an exaggerated gesture as if checking the position of the plushy and pulled down the control lever.
The arm stopped right above the doll and came down loosely to grab the target. It then pulled it up as if it were caressing the surface.
“You’re so gentle, God Arm.”
“You’re kidding right?!”
As usual, she was hopeless.
Yuuki didn’t understand the technicalities, but she failed a second time after putting in another hundred yen coin.
He looked at her profile and she looked back silently.
“I can’t get it because Yuuki-kun’s watching.”
“…What do you mean? Why don’t you put it on the ring instead of the body?”
“No, no, that’s a trap. I’m going for the chin…”
“I-I’m good at UFO catchers2!”
Rin suddenly intervened.
Rin put some money in and took position in front of the lever.
While Yuuki and Yui were dumbfounded, Rin operated the lever and pressed the button while desperately staring at the target.
Dan! She used an unnecessary amount of force and it was a bit scary.
Perhaps due to Rin’s enthusiasm, the arm also moved with vigor and grabbed the panda by the chin before returning.
As the arm popped open, the plushy fell straight into the hole.
“Yes, I did it!”
“Wow, that’s amazing. Rin got it in just one try.”
Rin clapped her hands and pranced around happily.
And when Yui saw her she said,
“Wa~ that’s amazing, Rin-chan…”
While saying that, she had a slightly scrunched up expression. Her fists were tightly clenched.
Yui, who hates to lose, seemed to have been stimulated.
Unaware, Rin reached for her prize and handed the plushy to Yuuki.
“Then, this…”
“You sure? Thanks, I think my sister will be happy.”
“…I-is that so? That’s good!”
When Yuuki thanked her, Rin smiled a bit bashfully.
“As I thought, you’re better smiling than being angry.”
“W-what’s with that! It’s like I’m always angry…”
“See? You’re mad.”
Rin noticed and her cheeks suddenly flushed. She let out a “fuun” and went quiet.
Yuuki suddenly felt a gaze from his side and turned around to see Yui staring at him.
“…What?”
“It’s nothing.”
She averted her gaze. It seemed like she was in a bad mood after all.
“Yui, thank you too.”
“Eh? F-for what?”
“For trying to get the plushy.”
After being thanked as well, Yui mumbled, “Y-yeah…”
She looked up as if to say something, but in the end, she said nothing.
“Well, it’s a shame I couldn’t see the God Arm, though.”
“Right! I’m sorry I got it!”
Yui pummeled the head of the plushy in Yuuki’s hand and yelled, “What are you talking about!”
Her JK power was decreasing again.
“Yeah, what are you talking about!”
For some reason, Rin imitated her and also hit the plushy.
How unreasonable. He was expecting it to be welcomed, but was surprised by the panda’s treatment.
Yuuki covered it with his hands to protect it and gave the panda a headpat. “Yoshi, yoshi, that was scary, wasn’t it?”
