Chapter 29: Absolutely Absolute

After saying that, Mizuna decided to hide behind Yuuki again and keep silent, as if to say that she would leave the rest to him.

The Takatsuki sisters froze in place with blank expressions.

While I was wondering what to do in this situation, Mizuna gently tugged on the hem of my clothes and I staggered back, but in the end I said “Well then,” and slipped away.

And after coming home.

As soon as she went into the living room and put down her bags, Mizuna, who had been quiet for a long time, suddenly began to sit upright on the carpet.

Apparently, she’s aware that she did something bad.

She sat up and squeezed the sides of her body and looks depressed as she sits there, waiting patiently for something to be said.

“What you said and what you’re doing now are totally different, aren’t they?”

What was she thinking, declaring that she was my girlfriend?

When I asked her that, Mizuna glanced up at me and stammered.

“Because, because… I thought that Yuuki-kun was in trouble…”

“And why did you have to do such a thing…”

“I thought…. that Yuuki-kun was being hit on.”

“Where did you get such an idea…”

“So, I shouted, ‘I’m Yuuki-kun’s girlfriend’ because I wanted to protect Yuuki-kun.”

The intentions behind her actions were completely unclear, but it didn’t seem like she was trying to bring down Yuuki or anything like that.

I’m not sure what else to say, but when I realized that she didn’t do it with ill-intent, I relaxed.

“…I see. You tried to help me, right? Thanks, Mizuna.”

Yuuki kneeled down next to Mizuna and patted her head, saying, ‘Don’t worry about it.’

Then Mizuna’s mouth, which had been stiff, relaxed and,

“Fuwaa~… onii-chan, I like it~… I don’t like it~…”

“You’re acting like you’re drunk.”

“I’m going to bed.”

While saying this, she wrapped her arms around my waist and hugged me tightly.

She stuck to me and wouldn’t let go, so I pulled away from her with all my strength.

“All right, come on. For heaven’s sake, even though I told you we should’ve left sooner.”

“I wanted to show you I was a good girl, and I was trying to be strong. I want you to take care of Mizuna for the rest of my life.”

“That’s something outrageous.”

I thought she was making a big deal of it, saying it was brother’s day, but that’s simply how she is.

Mizuna also said that she’ll do her best to make friends, so her brother should get a girlfriend too, but she didn’t seem to be trying to make friends at all.

“So it’s all a lie.”

“Come to think of it, if Yuuki-kun got a girlfriend, she would definitely bully Mizuna.”

“And why is that?”

“Yuuki-kun doesn’t care about Mizuna at all and makes her sit in the corner of the room.”

—What the hell kind of figure are you imagining?

Mizuna tried to mimic crying, and I put my hand on her head as she did it.

“Don’t worry, I won’t just leave you hanging.”

“But… not for the rest of my life.”

“Ugh.”

I lightly tapped her head and Mizuna let out a strange squeal.

But she didn’t get up and stared at me.

“So how long are you going to take care of me?”

“At least until I’m an adult.”

“That’s fast!”

“No, it’s too late.”

How long are you going to be a parasite?

I replied bluntly, so Mizuna retorted.

“Okay! Then it would be better if Yuuki-kun really became Mizuna’s boyfriend! I’d rather be a sister who’s dating her brother.”

“I don’t.”

“I don’t want to be the second girl in line! Please, please!”

“So, where are you coming up with these ideas?”

“If that’s not good, then I can be Yuuki-kun’s maid.”

“No thanks.”

“Then pet me.”

“That costs money.”

“Then a leech.”

“You shouldn’t be saying that.”

My younger sister was willing to give up her dignity as a human being.

Because of her past, I’d been kind and lenient, but I realized I can’t laugh at her because of this.

“Stop being an idiot and start making friends. If you do that, I think it would solve most of your problems. You can hang out with them.”

“If you talk to people like that, it doesn’t look like you’ll get a girlfriend, either. In fact, it’s as if Mizuna’s the one doing the heavy lifting for poor old Yuuki-kun, who doesn’t have a girlfriend.”

Mizuna got up, and folded her arms, looking down at Yuuki.

“If you say Yuuki-kun has a girlfriend, then Mizuna will give up on you quickly too. But if you don’t, then you’d be fine with the way things are.”

“If I get a girlfriend, you’re gonna make a friend.”

“Yeah. Absolutely, absolutely.”

Mizuna nodded coyly.

This is a failed idea because there’s no way for me to get a girlfriend anyway.

Well, that thought is mostly correct.

(Well, she…)

On second thought, it’s still impossible.

Yuuki honestly thought so.
