Chapter 40: A Departure Is But Another Beginning

Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

Inside the bedroom.

Xin Zaozao and her father sat on the balcony. They were both very restrained.

Xin He broke the silence. “Do you feel like I don’t pay you enough attention?”

Xin Zaozao did not expect Xin He to open the conversation with such blunt words. She shook her head. “You have things that kept you busy. I can understand that.”

Xin He heaved a sigh. “I’ve actually reflected on it and realized that I’ve indeed done you wrong. After the divorce with your mother, all I could think of was marrying Wang Tsuen as quickly as possible, and completely neglected your feelings. When I finally marry Wang Tsuen, my full attention was on her because we’re newlyweds… Actually, I realize that after the marriage, my attention is always on her. You’ve always been so quiet, to the point that I thought you’re doing just fine.”

Xin Zaozao just kept smiling.

It turned out that the saying “the child who cries gets the candy ” was true. “I actually know that Wang Tsuen has not been very good to you,” said Xin He.

o

Xin Zaozao stared at her father.

“But…” Xin He felt guilty, yet he did not continue.

But because he loved Wang Tsuen so much, he looked the other way.o

Xin Zaozao said, “It’s fine, Dad. I don’t mind. As long as you’re happy.”

“You’re leaving to study abroad in three days,” Xin He looked at his daughter, “Take good care of yourself. I’m not a competent father, but I hope my daughter can be a happy daughter.” “I will,” Xin Zaozao smiled faintly.

Xin He looked his daughter in the eye, got up, and patted her shoulder. Becasue they rarely communicated, there was not much else they could say to one another, but at that moment, Xin Zaozao thought she could sense her father’s unspoken love and regret.

Maybe when humans reached a certain age, there would be more ripples in their emotions.

Xin Zaozao thought she was an unemotional person, but when she saw the back of her father who was leaving with heavy steps, as well as the white in his hair, her eyes were red.

Fate had arranged for them to become father and daughter in this life. She never expected to gain anything, and she did not resent anyone.

Three days was not a short time, but it was not a long time either.

Xin Zaozao had booked a 9:00 a.m. flight, but she was already done packing and was ready to go at 7:00 a.m. She did not want to disturb anyone, nor did she think anyone would trouble themselves for her. She dragged her final luggage to the back of the car. At that moment, she saw Mu Cidian standing next to the driver’s seat.

There was a slight movement in her throat. They did not exchange any words. She silently placed her luggage in the trunk, without any intention of asking for anyone to help her.

But she knew very well that Mu Cidian wanted to drive her to the airport.

She did not refuse. After she was done, she climbed onto the back seat.

Mu Cidian started the car and they left the villa.

Xin Zaozao received a message on her phone. She checked it and saw that it was from her father. “Take good care of yourself out there.”

Xin Zaozao was a little moved. In truth, she was not very good at receiving this kind of concern, so she did not reply. But almost immediately after, she received another message. It was a notification that a certain amount of money had been transfered to her bank account. The amount was so large that she could not count it at a single glance.

She took a deep breath, put down her phone and looked out of the window.

She looked at the city of Jin, the place where she grew up. She did not know when she would be back here again.

In the plan she had made for herself, she did not even include the plan to come back.

She did not feel like fighting for anything. From her point of view, this home was not really her real home.

“Aren’t you afraid that I’d drive you elsewhere and not to the airport?” Inside the quiet car, Mu Cidian suddenly spoke.O

Xin Zaozao shook her head lightly. “Nope.”

Mu Cidian stared at her coldly through the rearview mirror.

He could not sense any emotion from this woman anymore.

“My presence here will affect you. You’ll definitely send me away,” Xin Zaozao stated very bluntly.

The marriage between Mu Cidian and the Wu Qianyuan was beneficial to the Xin family. Mu Cidian would not dare to offend Wu Qianyuan. Xin Zaozao would be like a ticking time bomb if she stayed here. And more importantly, she was the sole successor to the Xin family, at least in name. After she left, the Xin family would end up being all his.

Sending her away would kill two birds with one stone. He should be happy to send her away.

The inside of the car fell into silence again.

Xin Zaozao did not know how Mu Cidian felt, but she had no interest in finding out either.

The car eventually arrived at the airport. Xin Zaozao dragged her luggage out of the trunk and walked into the airport.

She did not know why Mu Cidian was following her inside, but if he wanted to follow her, so be it.

She went to get her boarding pass and was prepared to go through security

cnecKs.

“Xin Zaozao,” Mu Cidian suddenly grabbed her arm.

Xin Zaozao pursed her lips and raised her head to look at him.

“You can just leave it all behind?” Mu Cidian asked.

“How else do you think I should accomodate you?” Xin Zaozao asked.

There was a slight shift in Mu Cidian’s expression.

Xin Zaozao moved her arm, trying to shake Mu Cidian off.

However, Mu Cidian suddenly pulled her into his embrace, hard. Xin Zaozao was caught completely off guard and hit her nose on his chest. It was painful, and there was only pain. Then, she felt Mu Cidian’s arms hold her tight, his head buried in her neck. She felt the warm breath coming out of his nose fluttering on her skin.

Yet she felt nothing in her heart.

Xin Zaozao indifferently accepted his intimate actions.

The next second, her brows furrowed, and her teeth clenched.

Mu Cidian had given her a hard bite on the neck.

He let go of her, turned around and walked away.

His strides were large and hurried, as if he had just touched something he shouldn’t, and he wanted to distance himself from it as quickly as possible.

Xin Zaozao rubbed her neck, then turned around to go through security checks.

Whatever. It was over.

But little did she know this was only the beginning!
