Frono FC were now down four goals to one with sixty-five minutes being displayed on the match time.
You could say it was pretty much over at this moment and nobody would look at you strangely.
To equalize that scoreline, Frono FC needed three more goals and it was pretty obvious that goals weren't coming their way in this match, their only goal so far came from a penalty kick after all.
But that wasn't really the main reason why anybody would believe that the match was pretty much over, the main reason was the fact that Unique were still dominating the match.
After the whole carelessly losing ball phase that led to them scoring that four goals with that counterattack, they went straight back to dominating the game, and that gave the fans more reason to believe that they did all that on purpose.
There weren't dominating Frono FC as much as they did in the first half as the guests were retrieving the ball quite fine with whatever opportunity they got but penetrating Unique FC's defense felt like it got harder for them in this half.
Out of frustration, Darwin tried a couple of long-range shots hoping that the old Dave would just come back and fumble that ball into the goalpost, but he was just daydreaming as Dave was able to easily stop all the shots.
With a decent midfield, solid defense, deadly attack mostly because of Mateo and a goalkeeper like Dave, Unique FC were now a formidable team that Frono FC just couldn't figure out a way to beat.
Mostly, whenever they encounter a team stronger than them, they stick to playing by their wits and end up using the mistakes of those teams to beat them.
They've encountered a couple of roadblocks on the road a couple of times just like they've done with Unique FC now.
Teams that hardly made any serious mistakes and will do anything to prevent themselves from getting outsmarted.
The only team that has been a major roadblock to them among all the teams in the league was Supreme United who they had failed to beat in their last five meetings, that was until Unique FC showed them what they could do today.
They were on the verge of getting knocked out of the Bilbeth Super Cup and they didn't like that.
"Frono FC knocked Unique FC out of the competition last season with a scoreline of five goals to three, Unique FC fought hard in that match but Frono FC were the better team and they ended up coming out on top. This season, we're seeing a Unique FC revenge story and they're not taking it easy." Jim expressed.
"Well, I don't blame them, Frono FC really punched them hard a lot of times last season and it's nice to see that they can punch back, if they win this match which is most likely going to happen, it will be their second return blow this season." Steve expressed.
After that goal from Mateo, it was obvious that Unique came up with more goal-scoring opportunities than Frono FC but those chances went to waste.
Well, none of them were really that close to going in apart from a well-placed shot from Carlos which was really close to going in from the bottom left side but Emerson was able to get to it right on time with both of his gloves.
That was a really close call for them because they would have been four goals now.
With the match entering the seventy-second minute now and the ball going out for a throw-in against Frono FC, both managers decided to make some changes.
This was going to be Norman's first change of the game and for Frono FC's coach, it was going to be his third or more as he had replaced one of his center backs and his right back who was having a hard time stopping Mateo from causing a lot of trouble from that area.
Norman brought on Minino to replace Henry who had been quite phenomenal today and then Frankie came on to replace Martinez who requested to be substituted after a challenge from Cloud.
He didn't act like it was anything serious at first until he started limping.
It wasn't anything that serious though, given the fact that he was able to get off the pitch on his own.
The only change Frono FC's coach made was bringing on Ahmed to replace Cloud.
"I was wondering when he was going to bring him on, Cloud hasn't really been that bad but it was pretty obvious that they were missing Ahmed in midfield, their midfield just hasn't felt the same without him and I'm sure the players can testify." Jim expressed.
It was quite interesting how both teams were bringing on their midfield Dynamos now.
Well, all three midfielders that Unique FC had on the pitch now were pretty decent but when it came to the question of who was the team's midfield Dynamo, that was only between Ferran and Minino.
Frankie was someone you would call a jack of all trades in midfield but you dare not say the last part because he had really good defensive abilities and his ability to intercept opponent passes was second to none on the team.
The match continued with Frono FC stealing the ball as soon as it was thrown to Ferran by Frankie.
The stealing was done by the newly brought-in Ahmed who sent the ball rolling to Seth as soon as he got hold of it.
"Ahmed already doing something just a few minutes after coming in," Jim commented.
"It's like he was brought in to help the team equalize this huge goal scoreline but that's going to be pretty difficult against Unique FC, if they wanted a chance, he should have come on earlier." Jim expressed. "That said, I'm not writing off their comeback ability or anything, this is football after all and the unexpected happens a lot of times."
Frono FC were still with the ball here looking for a way to get past Unique FC's defense.
Torres tried to get past Norman like always but to avoid getting pocketed by the right back just like the other times he's tried to get past him, he decided to pass the ball to Darwin.
Darwin feigned shooting toward the goalpost to shake Adolf but something like that wasn't going to work on Adolf who pushed forward and ended up getting the ball off his feet.
The ball was sent rolling toward Ahmed who immediately sent it flying over to Seth with a lob before Frankie could get to him.
The ball wasn't able to get to Seth though as Roland ended up heading it out for a corner kick to prevent that from happening.
"Nice defending from Roland but now they have a corner kick to deal with."
Seth quickly caught the ball thrown to him and took it to the spot for the corner kick.
There were players from both teams running around inside the box as the referee made sure that everything was ready.
"A corner kick, that's great," Dave muttered as he pulled down his gloves a little.
After making sure that everything was ready, the referee blew his whistle and now it was up to Seth to send the ball in.
He slowly took three steps backward and took in a deep breath before he quickly closed up on the ball and sent it flying into the box.
The ball came curving in on the right side where Roland was marking Ahmed and when the two jumped up together to get their head on the ball, Ahmed ended up winning the aerial contest.
The ball was sent flying toward the right side of the goalpost as Dave dived toward it, but before he could get to it, something quite unfortunate happened.
Aima stretched his leg out of instinct to block the ball and although that did work, the rebound was sent rolling toward the goalpost from the middle.
There was nothing anybody could do as the ball rolled into the goalpost.
"Oh, it's an own goal, they've pulled another one back!"
Ahmed quickly picked the ball up from the goalpost and began to run back to the other side while screaming to his teammates that they could do it.
"That's quite unfortunate but they're still two goals up, they just have to keep their head up and see this through, a Frono FC equalizer would be nice to spice up the match though," Steve commented.
'Well, it doesn't really matter, there's no quest for me to prevent a second goal and we're still two goals up.'
<But you guys can't afford to concede another goal>
The match continued with Unique FC moving the ball around with great caution, it was like they were trying to stall the game so Frono FC began to press them hard.
This forced Unique FC to switch to a faster style of play.
Carlos received the ball down the right wing and was about to either move forward with it or pass it to someone when he was taken down under a careless challenge from a Frono FC player.
The player got a yellow card as expected and now Unique FC had a free kick.
It wasn't close enough to be taken directly by someone like Mateo but since he was good with long passes, he was still going to take it.
There was really no need for a wall as the foul happened a little close to the kick-off spot.
The players from both teams were all around the box now and as soon as the referee was sure that everything was ready, he blew his whistle.
Mateo sent the ball flying in as soon as he could and he was going for the middle.
The ball was sent flying directly toward Ferran who nodded it back a little to the right exactly where Frankie could be seen with a Frono FC defender.
The midfielder was in a good position to put the ball away and the player behind him was aware of that so he decided to pull his shirt sneakily.
Frankie wasn't going to give in easily though as just as he was about to fall backward, he raised his left leg and sent the ball volley flying toward the top right-hand corner.
Emerson was glued to the spot as he watched the ball hit the crossbar before falling into the goalpost.
"Oh, my goodness, that's their fifth goal, they're back to being three goals up."
That goal left every Frono FC player in shock and Unique FC players were quite elated as they stormed on Frankie.
"I think it's fair to say that this match is over at this point, what an instant strike back," Steve commented.
