Chapter 7: The Hero Returns

While leaving the church, I rest inside my Father’s arm and smile sweetly, “Dad, you were really cool!”
Day has passed since I got down to the Human realm with my Father. I still don’t quite understand why Father suddenly wanted to have a wedding ceremony at the church. Surely, there is some meaning behind his action. However, looking at his state, he does not seem to have any hidden motive.
Father: “E…Really? Really?”
Being unbearably happy because his daughter praised him, Rovel’s sharp looks crumble into a hopeless father. I feel disappointed as I see the transgression.
Ellen: “Right now, Esteem Father is so uncool.”
Rovel: “Why?!”
I try to get away from my Father who is shocked at my remark, I glance at my Mother who is holding Father’s other arm. Her face looks so happy. When I see her happy expression, I’m also become happy that I gave her the present. I think to myself that I’m truly blessed to be born in this family.
In front of the Church entrance gate, there is a carriage park for us. While we are walking toward the carriage, I am still being carried by my Father. I hug my father’s neck with the two of my hand and Albert who follows us from the back like a servant comes into my sight. He has a troubled look on his face like he has a hard time to accept the situation. I watch over Albert intensely.
When our gazes suddenly come into a line and he realizes that I have been watching him, he is so surprised that his shoulders shake. Although Albert know that he is being watch intensely by me, He seems unprepared to start any kind of conversation with me. Somehow, I feel like I will lose if I turn my attention away. Therefore, I keep watching him intensely without a blink. After a moment, both Father and Mother seem to notice my strange behaviour.
Rovel: “What’s wrong Ellen? Does Albert bother you?”
Ellen: “………………”
However, I still keep staring at Albert. Hey don’t you have something that you want to say? Finally, after I put more pressure on him, Albert barely seems to realize it.
“Lord Rovel, congratulations on your marriage,” said Albert while bowing his head down.
Father looks surprise when Albert bows his head to congratulate him. Looking at the scene, Father suddenly bursts into a smile.
Rovel: “Thank you, Albert”
Albert looks at Rovel’s happy expression. Albert might be bewildered at Father’s appearance after 10 years. Soon after, Father’s expression turns serious and he comes back to reality.
Rovel: “Regarding that woman. We have to take some precaution.”
After finish saying that, Father leaves with me and Mother. Meanwhile Albert notices something after hearing Father’s words and shows a surprise expression on his face.
Rovel: “Ori, Ellen. From now, I’m going back to my parents’ house. Inside there, I will meet a troublesome woman. Please go back to the spirit realm. You can see the situation through the Water Mirror. No matter what happens, don’t come over here.”
Ellen: “Why? Esteem Father.”
Rovel: “It’s because I don’t know what will that woman does to you. More over, I also do not want the two of you get into her sight. “
As Father said that, he gently strokes my head. On the other hand, I’m surprised that there is a person that Father really hate that much. I turn my gaze on Mother. Mother seems to sympathize with Father. She said she understand and smile in an agreement.
Rovel: “Besides, if Ellen’s existence is disclosed and taken as a bride into the royal family, I won’t be able to handle it. I will definitely go on rampage.”
Mother, me and Albert are appalled from hearing Father’s hate declaration.
Albert: “Lord Rovel…aren’t you overthinking the whole situation…”

Mother takes me away from Father’s embrace. Then both me and Mother say ‘So troublesome’ and make cold expressions. Then Father becomes dispirited as a result.

After Father said that, he gives Mother a kiss on her cheek.

Although I don’t really know why both Father and Mother keeps yelling out their hate for this particular person, I return with Mother to the spirit world with Mother.

After sending off his wife and daughter, Rovel rides into the carriage with Albert sitting on the opposite of him. During the journey, Rovel sinks his eyes toward the window and gazes at the outside view for the most of time. Albert is bewildered at Rovel’s change who he did not see for almost 10 years. His lord that he knew was a person who always looked sharp and never showed any emotion. For this reason, Albert is surprised to see Rovel’s blissful expression.
Albert remembers the short parting with Rovel 10 years ago during the Monster Tempest incident. He also remembers the figure of his Lord who was getting poorer and fed up with Agriel’s extreme obsession on him. As Agriel’s obsession became more intense, Rovel also became more isolated. In these 10 years of separation, Rovel finally gains back his human emotion after living together with the spirit. And now, he also has the happiness of having a family of his own. However, Albert and the others are making uproars, begging him to go home and destroying his happiness.
At the wedding, Albert notices that he has only been thinking about himself. Although he was supposed to think about the well being of his Master first, he was unable to see his Master’s happiness because he is tired of Agriel’s poor treatments everyday.
Albert: “Lord Rovel……My deepest apology!!”
Rovel lets out a sigh at Albert’s sudden apology.
Rovel: “I understand that all of you have been driven to the corner by that woman’s arrogance. And I’m also at fault for abandoning our house for 10 years. … Don’t worry about it. “
Rovel does not show any trace of aging. His hair color turns into silver and his clear sky blue eyes reflects the evening light. The orange color from the evening light blends in with his eyes color and make it changes color into purple. Rovel looks quite similar as he was 10 years ago, but he still gives an impression that he has left the house for 10 years. Albert feels deeply about the ten years separation. After that, both Albert and Rovel stay silent through out their journey until they reach their territories.

When the carriage with the crest of Vankriff family enters Vankriff territories, people are gathering and gossiping about Rovel’s home coming. Someone from the crowd is shouting ‘The Hero is back!’ and the mass run to the Vankriff mansion. When the carriage stops at the front of the resident and Rovel gets out from the carriage, the people cheer loudly.
“Lord Rovel!!!”
A lot of people are gathering in front of the gate of the resident. They are crying while shouting Rovel’s name. Rovel who notices the mass walks out while smiling and giving them some appreciation back.
Rovel: “I’m sorry to be away for a long time. Everyone looks pretty good. “
The people notice that Rovel looks the same as 10 years ago. He still looks like a 17 years old young man. Not only that, his hair color has changed into silver and even his eyes have also changed. By looking at his appearance, the people of the territories realize that Rovel had fought for the country to the verge of dying. Then they start to cry and yell out his name and give him their thanks.
Rovel: “Thank you for the warm welcome. The day has gone out. Everyone please takes care and returns to your home.”
The mass keeps watching over him attentively as Rovel smiles and turns his back to go inside the resident.
When Rovel steps into the resident, he is instantly greeted by all of the employees of the resident.
“Lord Rovel, welcome home. We are waiting for you.”
The butler who has been working at the Vankriff resident for so many years has shown a sign of aging. However, the moment he sees Rovel, a tear starts to flow from his eyes. He was ten years old when Rovel left but he still worried about Rovel and waited for his return. Looking at the butler’s expression, Rovel starts to have a real feeling that he did make everyone worried about him. With a bitter smile, Rovel said ‘I’m back’ to everyone.
The cries of the Vankriff resident employees who cannot hold their feeling can be heard. None of them are raising their head up. Everyone keeps their head down while they welcome Rovel back to the resident.
Rovel feel the warm welcome from all of the employees, but from here on, an enemy is waiting for him. Rovel wrinkles his eyebrows and enters the resident.
