"Since our soul is stronger, we are more adept at multitasking. I want all of you to close your eyes, and sense the movement of mana around you while maintaining a steady flow of mana from your elixir field to your arm, and gather it to the tip of your magic wands. The moment that you sensed the mana fluctuations from a magic attack you are to create a barrier around you, it's even better if you were to cast the basic barrier spell [Borg]. While [Borg] is a spell, due to the simplicity of its spell model that was improved over and over again, the difficulty of casting it is only a bit higher than using simple magic"

The city provided the tribesmen with magic artifacts. The Spirit Mages received magic wands while the Body Mages received swords

However, the artifacts they received were of the lowest quality. Most of the artifacts they received are only low-level Junior artifacts that could only support power up to the 3rd cycle. Since there are few 4th and 5th cycle mages, few of them received mid-level artifacts that could support them upto the 6th cycle

Magic Wands and Magic Swords could have more than one function aside from amplifying the user's firepower but the ones that the tribesmen received only has the most basic amplification function

The amplification isn't even that much, their powers are only amplified by 5%

With Philome's order, the tribesmen closed their eyes and their senses were focused on the movement of mana in their surroundings

After seeing that all of them are closing their eyes, Philome held her own magic wand and pointed it at them

While Philome shows more softheartedness on the outside than Wermon, she is still a military mage that was trained in accordance with the style of the military and that is the same style that she used to teach

Yellow sparks of lightning gathered at the tip of Philome's magic wand as she fired multiple streaks of lightning at once

One of the fastest ways to ingrain in the tribesmen's instincts what she was teaching is to make them feel pain

The pain would make them strive harder to improve themselves and it was also easier for their instincts to be honed to the point that they could cast a barrier the moment they sensed abnormal mana fluctuations without their mind registering what was happening first

As lightning is an element that could bring a lot of pain while preventing the tribesmen from getting seriously injured, Philome used it

Junior Mages after all theoretically could use any type of magic, their talent in each element just varied to the point that some of them might only be able to create a small flicker of flame no matter how hard they try

The streaks of lightning struck several tribesmen at once. They tried to erect a barrier to protect themselves but they were not able to react in time

Rezen was one of the unlucky fellows that were struck by the lightning streaks and his body trembled

With Philome's explanation, she made this "basic skill" sound so easy but in reality, was not

Not to mention, their current set-up was also making it harder

There are many people inside this training room. The more people there are, the more mana fluctuations that would appear making it harder for one's senses to identify one fluctuation from another fluctuation

And even if Rezen could distinguish the fluctuations from Philome's magic, the magic's speed was still too fast for him to react in time

Maintaining a flow of mana from his elixir field to the tip of his wand while focusing his senses on his surroundings is not an easy feat to achieve!

However, no matter how hard it was, the training still continues, and screams painfully reverberated inside the training room

A day is not enough for the tribesmen to master the basics and they don't have a choice but to become a punching bag for Philome and Wermon

——

"Argh... I'm tired! I want to die!" Treen grumbled as soon as he walked down the magic shuttle. Behind him, Rezen and the others followed suit

All of them were physically and mentally tired from today's training that was tough as usual

"Even if it was tiring, the improvement is fast, don't you think so?" Stone Head replied. The guilt for causing the loss of the tribe's Junior Rank is still inside his heart and to make up for it, Stone Head wishes to be as strong as possible to make sure that the tribe would prosper

As such, he is one of the few who always looked forward to their training as it was a chance for him to become stronger

"We might have improved but the training is still a bit extreme" Jenna muttered. She was one of the more talented tribesmen and after cleansing her body of her impurities, she managed to reach the Junior Rank in one fell swoop

Every day, more tribesmen are reaching the Junior Rank when in the past, it takes years and years before they could even have one

When a person has resources, knowledge, and instructors, progress is really fast!

"Hey, I'm tired! Take out your mana stones and buy me some meat and alcohol!"

Suddenly, while Rezen's company was trying to return to their dormitory room, they heard a loud voice. When they turned to look at the source, they saw a group of tribal people intimidating another group of tribal people

"Aren't they the survivors of the Tiger Child Tribe? They have two 3rd cycle mages among them. What are they doing to the people of the Ice Wall Tribe?" Treen muttered as he stared at them

"W-we can't! M-mana stones are important, w-we can't use it for you!" The members of the Ice Wall Tribe refuse. They have been living in the city for a little bit over a week already they are more knowledgeable than the first time they entered and they are aware that mana stones are important

They must use their mana stones to improve their overall strength

However, the moment that they refused, the people of the Tiger Child Tribe started beating them up

One side has more than one Junior Mage with two of them even at the 3rd cycle while the other side only has one Junior Mage at the 1st cycle, the Tiger Child Tribe doesn't even have to use any lethal spell to win

"These bastards! What are they doing?!" Stone Head said angrily and he was about to launch himself at them when Rezen stopped him

"Don't, do you want our tribe to be their next target? You are the strongest combatant that we have but I doubt that even you can fight against a 3rd cycle mage much less two of them"

If Stone Head is still a heavens' blessed, Rezen might let him do chivalrous acts but he wasn't anymore

Stone Head doesn't have a fortune aura anymore and his luck is the same as the luck of normal people

There is little to no chance that after Stone Head acted righteously, some hidden masters would take a liking to him and make him his disciple

If they don't want to become the next target and lose their mana stones, they cannot rashly interfere

Besides, this is a good chance for them to observe how the city would react to bullying and exploitation amongst the tribesmen. They don't have to be involved

"Still!" Stone Head insisted but Rezen glanced at him coldly

"We are already walking on eggshells in this city, if you want to help then go but make sure that our tribe wouldn't be affected"

The tribesmen have to be slapped by reality. If they are strong enough, Rezen is more than willing to help but they are not! They are too weak and they would just paint themselves as a target

At most, the Waterside Tribe's strength was in the middle compared to all the tribal people in the dormitory. They are not too weak as they have a 2nd cycle Junior Mage but at the same time, they are not too powerful as the strongest mages are at the 5th cycle. They don't have enough strength to blindly act righteously

"But..." Stone Head muttered. He badly wants to help but he doesn't want to bring trouble to the tribe

"Let's go. This reminded me of something. We are not the target of bullying and exploitation now but that might not last long. I have a plan to deal with this but I need a little bit of time" Rezen said before resuming his walk to the dormitory building

Since Treen and Jenna were not as softhearted as Stone Head, they immediately followed Rezen. For them, Rezen is always right and they have to listen to him since he already proved himself time and time again

Even if they want to help, it's only a casual thought in their heads
