Chapter 232 232. A Year Later.
"Why is that?" Kevin asked.
"Because if you do not return now. You'll be stuck here for eternity with the rest of us," Ares replied.
"He is right. As much as it hurts me to see you go, we have no choice but to do exactly just that. We'll see you again soon my son, and then we'll explain everything to you," Lucy added.
Kevin nodded in understanding and then turned to Ares. "What about the demons flooding into the city??"
"I'll close it up,"
Listening to Ares response, Lucy waved her hand and a portal opened up before her.
Seeing this, Kevin spoke to the system internally. 'Will I really get to see them again?'
[You will,]
Although it won't be easy going in and out of the underworld, it certainly won't be impossible.
This is why the system replied positively to Kevin.
Meanwhile, Cratos walked behind Kevin, placing his hand on Kevin's shoulder, drawing Kevin's attention towards him before speaking up.
"Our battle will temporarily be on hold till we meet again. But remember, I won't go easy on you a second time,"
Kevin chuckled lightly and turned towards Cratos with a smile before stretching his arm towards him for a handshake.
"Likewise," he replied and they both shook their arms.
And with that out of the way, Kevin turned towards the portal before entering into it as a blinding ray of light assaulted his eyes.

**One year later.**
It's been a year since demons swamped the city, destroying so many buildings along their paths while feeding on the humans that screamed and ran for their lives.
Many lives were lost during the invasion of the demons as humanity desperately tried to survive by using the best weapons they had in their disposal.
But as hundreds of lives were lost, thousands and millions were saved due to Angelica interceptions.
Upon returning back from the underworld, the system explained everything to Kevin just as she had promised him before Kevin visited the underworld for the first time.
And ever since, Kevin had been traveling to the underworld and returning back anytime he had a lot of time on his hands for the past year.
During these periods, Kevin had learned a lot of things about Elysium as well as who was currently ruling it also.
At the mean time, Cratos younger sister and Kevin's aunt is the one currently acting as queen of Elysium until Kevin is ready to ascend to the throne.
And witnessing the effort Angelica made in saving lives, she rewarded Angelica by gifting her the pleasure of returning back to her original form.
This meant Angelica was no longer a fallen angel but was now an angel once again, meaning she was permitted to return back to Elysium.
Of course, Angelica was only interested in returning home if Kevin was prepared to return back to Elysium with her.
And as for Max, Kevin thought his death was unfair, judging by the fact that Max never really slept with Lucy and Lucy wouldn't allow it based on the love she had for her husband and because she knew Cratos would destroy Max if he ever touched her.
Unfortunately for Max, he never knew his wife was a goddess and he never suspected that the reason why his wife was never pregnant for him was because he never slept with her in the first place.
Lucy used an hypnotic spell to make Max to think they've done it before whereas they had never touched lips,, not to mention having intercourse.
In the end, Cratos understood what his son wanted and so, decided to reincarnate Max, allowing him to live the rest of his life in happiness and fulfillment.
This was the little show of gratitude Cratos could offer to Max for everything Max did in taking care of his wife and son.

Now, moving on to a different topic.
A few years ago, Kevin and Max were made to believe Lucy suddenly disappeared without a trace of where she might have run to.
But this wasn't really what happened.
Lucy had returned to her husband who happened to be taking a break in the underworld, away from his royal duties without any other immortal in the underworld noticing her presence there.
Meanwhile, Lucy and Cratos were subtly watching over Kevin and they noticed how determined he was in finding out the exact location of his mother.
They could see he really wanted to become stronger to save his mother.
This, of course touched their hearts but they decided to not let him know exactly where they were because this was what Kevin had always wanted.
To experience what it was to start as a weak mortal before slowly rising to the top of the food chain.
This was why they decided to see if Kevin could accomplish one of his previous life goal.

Currently, Kevin was inside a white limousine, with a driver driving him towards a university nearby. He was dressed in a formal full white suit.
He turned to his right and noticed his phone on the car seat. It was ringing and vibrating.
Kevin grabbed hold of the phone before picking up the call after noticing who the caller was, and it happened to be Abel being the one calling him
Abel was one of Kevin's two best friends in the university before the cannibals and awakened roamed the streets at night and everyone in the university were asked to return home.
But now that the demons, cannibals and awakened were no more, everyone could resume their daily activities without the fear of being killed or abducted at night.
