But that didn't hinder his spirit in any way as he asked the question that had been on his mind for a while now.
"Was Christopher Mormon the one who devised the plan for Vanessa to seduce my dad?"
"I don't think so. It should be the other guy standing beside him. Although, it is simply an assumption. I never really bothered to ask too many questions about what they did."
"Why were you there that night? It doesn't look to me like you had any part to play in running after my family's wealth."
"No, I didn't. In fact, I never knew the others were involved in such a thing until Christopher invited me that night."
"He informed me of their bizarre cause for celebration and invited me to come take part in it. We were going to be future business partners and I didn't want anything that would hinder the relationship I was trying to build, so I accepted the invitation."
He added. "While they were celebrating how they had successfully seduced and duped your Dad, Christopher was celebrating the beginning of his new position as acting president."
"And as for me, I had just successfully sold the little product I was asked to sell and since Christopher was pleased with how I handled it at the time, he invited me to join in their celebration while Drake introduced me to the woman I would be humping."
"I guess that answers your questions." Brian Stark said looking at Kevin.
"Yes." Kevin simply replied.
"Do you have more?" Brian asked.
"Just two."
"Fine, then let these two questions be the final ones you'll be asking me."
Kevin nodded in response and asked his first question. "What is the name of the company sending you the shipments?"
Brian Stark furrowed his brows a bit. He was a bit amazed to find out that Kevin had done his findings on his own before confronting him.
"PEAK."
"PEAK?" Kevin repeated with a confused look on his face.
"Yes, that was the name Christopher told me as well."
Initially, Brian Stark also became curious about where the drugs he was selling were coming from so he asked Christopher at the time, and the only word Christopher gave him as a response was PEAK.
Brian Stark didn't bother to ask for more details and simply decided to do a few findings about said company on his own.
Kevin nodded his head in understanding and decided that he would do a little finding of his own, but Brian Stark noticed his expression and said.
"Don't even bother asking if I know where the company is."
Then he added. "I've done my research as well and there's nothing about a company involved in making those drugs on the internet."
"I've even done some underground checks on the company, however, I got nothing from my thorough months of research."
"To be honest, I'm beginning to think that the company doesn't even exist and Christopher was merely trying to stop me from asking more questions."
Kevin kept a mental note of what he just heard and proceeded to ask his final question.
"What do you know about the other man behind the camera with Christopher Mormon."
"Nothing," Brian Stark replied bluntly and truthfully.
Then, he added. "I met the guy that night and I've never seen or heard from him ever since. I didn't speak to him that night and neither did he."
"So, I never thought too much about it or him."
"Even Drake didn't tell me his name. All he said was that the man was a friend of his."
"So if you want to know who he was, you will have to ask Drake or Vanessa, if you can leave here alive anyway."
"Now, you have no more questions to ask me right?"
"Yes."
"Good," Brian Stark nodded with a smile before his expression became serious and he asked his only question.
"Now tell me where Amy is?"
"She's at Dynamo Hotel in room 301," Kevin replied truthfully as well since they were sticking to the agreement they both made.
"I see," Brian Stark closed his eyes with a smile on his face, before inhaling deeply and exhaling.
Now that he knew exactly where Amy was, his mind was a bit relaxed.
He poured more whiskey into his cup before taking a few gulps. "It seems we have about 30 seconds left till midnight." He remarked while glancing at the clock at the top of the wall.
"It appears so," Kevin replied.
While savoring the taste of the liquor, he remarked.
"Hmm, then may the best man leave this room alive," He dropped the cup back on the table.
"Agreed."
Both of them glared at each other, maintaining perfect silence as the ticking sound of the clock grew louder, amplifying the awkward silence between them.
With less than fifteen seconds left before midnight, both men patiently waited for the second hand of the clock to get to 12 before making a move.
The very moment it did, Brian Stark instantly flung the glass table towards Kevin, but Kevin reacted in time to activate his Cubic Fabricated Reality skill, confining both of them within the invisible cube he erected.
He then leaped away from the table before it could hit him.
Meanwhile, Brian Stark's two arms had transformed into two hairy beastly arms with razor-sharp claws that were sharp enough to pierce through the flesh of a human like butter.
He acted quickly and moved his arm in a slashing motion to scratch Kevin along his chest right after he noticed how Kevin evaded the table he flipped towards him.
The cut on Kevin's chest was precise but not deep enough because Kevin managed to distance himself a bit before Brian Stark could really penetrate his flesh.
He rolled onto the ground when he tried to avoid Brian Stark's claws and was just about to stand up when he noticed Brian lunging towards him with crimson eyes and razor-sharp teeth. Brian Stark had completely transformed into a beast of the night.
