Chapter 180: Gu Corporations Anniversary (I)
Grandfather Gu couldn’t help but frown upon hearing Xu Nuan’s words. His lips pursed into a thin line when he remembered about the banquet last time that she had attended.
She was humiliated in front of everyone and even fainted due to stress. How would she want to attend another banquet after that incident?
He let out a deep sigh as he said, ” Xu Nuan, I know grandfather has let you down. As the daughter of Gu family, we have wronged you.”
” I understand your feelings. However, I still insist that you should come to the party. Gu Corporation is the company that I founded, this company is mine more than your father.”
” As the main host of the banquet, I want you to be present at the party. And I promise you, I won’t let you be wronged anymore. You’re a Gu Nuan, and will be treated as one.”
Xu Nuan was in a dilemma about the party upon hearing his firm tone. At least he was aware that Xu Nuan was treated wrongly, only if she could see this side of Grandfather Gu before dying.
If he had expressed him in this way before, the girl would have known that she has someone by her side. Maybe she would be able to overcome her uneasiness.

After pondering over a minute, she gave up. How can she reject him when he is insisting this much?
” Okay. I will attend the party. But, only for a short while. I will not stay for long.” She added, at which the Old man’s face lit up.
” That’s great. I am sending you my card so shop as much as you want. Also, on the day of the banquet, my chauffeur will come to pick you up.”
Xu Nuan didn’t reject him. She is not stupid to use her money to buy a dress for the banquet which she is going to attend only for a while.
Also, if she had denied him, he would have been dejected. He is doing this because this will give him a peace of mind. Since he couldn’t give her anything in the past, he must have wanted to pamper her this way.

Two days later, Xu Nuan looked at her reflection wearing a peach, off-shoulder dress with straps, enhancing her shoulder line.
The long slit in front was revealing her smooth legs, making them look long and appealing. Her chestnut brown hair was styled in soft curls, completing her look.
She matched the earrings and paired a beautiful-newly bought watch with the dress to not over do the look.
Everything that she was wearing was newly bought and expensive, obviously. She got the opportunity to go shopping after a long while, how could she have missed it?
It’s not her money anyway!
She picked up her phone and dialed Han Zihao’s number. He must not be busy, right?
She didn’t get the chance to tell him about the party as she forgot about it herself. However, when he dialed his number, it was switched off.
” Is he in the meeting?” She wondered. She was planning to inform him before leaving for the party.
Not because she was bound to it, it’s just telling him makes her feel more secure and safe. Maybe that’s what the privilege of having a boyfriend...soon to be.
In the end, she left him a message, informing him about the banquet and venue.
‘ I hope he won’t think too much of himself just because I informed him about my whereabouts.’ she wondered but she was too rushed to think about such things.
She looked at the time and realized that she was already late. She rushed out, as the chauffeur sent by Grandfather Gu was waiting for her downstairs.

At the Banquet,
Gu Xingren was wearing a fiery-red evening gown, with a silver belt on waist.
The off-shoulder, V-neck dress was not only showing-off her slender neckline but the silver belt was glorifying her slender-hourglass figure as well.
She was holding a glass of white wine and was greeting the reputed guests and businessmen invited to the party with a professional-smile on her face.
Yu Yuhan was asked by Gu Zhang to stand by Xingren, as she greeted the guests. At first he doesn’t want to do this, it’s not like he was the host of the party.
But he ended up doing so when his mother insisted him to be serious about their so-called engagement. The engagement which has no involvement of him, yet he ended up standing there as a mannequin.
While his legs were following Xingren to greet the guests, his eyes were wandering around to look for Xu Nuan. He has heard from Grandfather Gu that she is coming to the party.
‘ Why is she so late? Isn’t she a Gu herself? Just like Xingren, she should be here earlier to greet everyone.’ He wondered.
” Mr. Yang, Thank you for coming to the party. Why aren’t you having anything?” Yuhan’s thoughts were interrupted by Xingren’s feminine voice when they stopped to greet a man who was standing against a table in grey-formal suit while holding an empty wine glass.
Although he doesn’t know this man, his name was pretty infamous in the industry for having wandering eyes and uncontrollable hands which tends to ‘mistakenly’ make their way to women’s waists.
He is infamous for having complaints by his female-staff. He recently got divorced who left him for cheating on her with his secretary.
He has warned Xingren when he found out that she is planning to launch her clothing brand and has seek an investment from him. Despite knowing his character well, she ignored it and told him that it’s just a business.
Although she said business, his eyes were speaking nothing but the language of lust. Pervert.
He nodded at him in greeting unwillingly. He raised his brows when he noticed Grandfather Gu signalling him to come.
” Mr. Yang, please excuse me.” As said this, he slipped out of this awkward-uncomfortable encounter. He glanced at Xingren before leaving who seemed to have no intention of leaving Mr. Yang alone.
After Yuhan left, the man smirked at Xingren, ” Ms. Gu, where is the girl that you were going to introduce to me? I hope you won’t disappoint me.” He asked, raising his wine glass suggestively.
Gu Xingren pursed her lips and glanced at Yuhan hesitantly who was talking to Grandfather Gu and smiled, ” She will be here soon. And you won’t be disappointed. She is beautiful and perfect for being the future Mrs. Yang.” she clinked her glass with his after saying this.
‘Xu Nuan, you think you can have everything just because you have Grandfather supporting you? But too bad, I have the whole Gu family, only Grandfather won’t be able to fight them.’ she smirked while thinking about marrying Xu Nuan to Mr. Yang, and getting more investment and support for her new brand.
