Chapter 226 Daddy's girl?
"Yuan, you guys wait for me at the living room, I have a few small matters to attend. Once I finish that I will introduce you to your father-in-law," Madam Layla said to Yuan as she stood up from her seat, after finishing her breakfast.
"Well, it's fine. We'll wait for your return Madam Layla, we understand how busy you are these days with the current development of the village," Anna quickly spoke to Madam Layla with a smile on her face. Although Anna didn't like the cunning and playful personality of Madam Layla, seeing how dedicated she was to her work, Anna couldn't help but admire her hardworking personality.
'No wonder Rose was so serious about her work when we first arrived in this village, so this is where she gets that from... Mother like daughter,' Anna thought with a sigh. Madam Layla smiled after hearing Anna's response.
"Very well, then I will take my leave now, I can't keep the other party waiting," Madam Layla said with a smile and left the scene.
"Excuse me..." James also stood up and left the scene, following his mother from behind. A few seconds later, Yuan and his wives also finished eating their breakfast. They then headed to the living room to relax for a bit, until Madam Layla returns from her work.
'I wonder what kind of person Rose, Julie, and Ava's father is, he has been bedridden for quite a long time now— as I've heard.' Looking at Rose, Yuan wondered about her father. He was curious as to what kind of person he was before falling gravely ill. To be able to save a village from destruction and bring it into the path of prosperity, he mustn't be a normal person.
Rose noticed that Yuan was staring at her face in a strange way, her face became slightly flushed, and she asked, "Yuan, you've been staring at my face for over a minute now, is there something on my face?"
Yuan shook his head. "There's nothing on your face, I was just wondering what kind of person your father is to be able to give birth to such a lovely daughter."
Rose's face immediately began to blush after hearing Yuan's response and a moment later, she said, "My father is a very normal person, and if I have to say it in one word, it would be 'kind'. He was very kind toward his own people and helped whomever was in need of help, and because of that, he was favored by everyone in the village."
"When I was a little girl, he would often play with me. One time, he even took me with him to the mountain to hunt some rabbits. I remember at that time our village was going through a food crisis, and most of our food supply was stolen by the orcs. Many villagers died at that time, not from the orcs but from hunger and suffering."
"But a few weeks later, a massive earthquake happened, causing many monsters from the mountains to run away. And our number was reduced once again, by the hoards of monsters that suddenly came out from the mountain."
"However, because of that massive earthquake, this river was formed and became our only hope for survival. And later, we found out the water from this river is very useful for farming, it has a very magical effect when we used it on our crops. And thus, we walked toward the path to the better future."
"And a few years later, our village again returned to its original state as many small nearby villages came here and joined us. And soon after that, my parents gave birth to Julie and James. And Ava, a few years later. My father was the reason why our village prospered, he united the nearby villages into one, which strengthened our village and became what it is today," Rose finished her talk about her father, Issac Monore.
Once she finished, Yuan could see a little tears in Rose's eyes, and he thought, 'She must love her father dearly, it just sounds that way by the way she talked about her father... Daddy's girl?'
"You really love your father, right?" Yuan said to Rose with a smile on his face.
Rose nodded. "Indeed, I love him. But I miss him now, he couldn't even speak properly and could only remain on his bed as he even lost the ability to move his limbs. And because of that, I stopped visiting him often, because I can't bear to see him like that."
Yuan understood what Rose was currently feeling, as he had felt the same when his mother was bedridden and couldn't leave her bed. Although, it wasn't himself, but from the memories he received, he couldn't feel the emotions from it, so he knew what was going on in Rose's mind.
A few moments later, Anna felt pitiful towards Rose and said to Yuan, "Dear, how about you try to give a restoration pill to Rose's father? There's a possibility that it might cure his illness, just as it did mine."
"I have been thinking the same, there's indeed a possibility that the restoration pill might cure his incurable illness. And I have decided to give it a try, since his daughters are my wives now, and if it makes Rose, Julie, and Ava smile, then I'll definitely do it," Yuan replied, as he looked at Rose, Julie, and Ava who were talking with Emma and Lily.
"It will definitely make them smile, if they see their father in full health once again, dear. After all, that pill did work for me, and I'm sure it will also work for Rose's father too," Anna nodded with a smile as she caressed his cheeks with her jade-like hand.
"Well, we'll only know it when we try."
Sometime later, Madam Layla returned from her work, and upon entering the living room, she saw that everyone was sitting on the sofa and happily chatting with one another.
"Mom, you're back already?" Rose quickly said as soon as she saw her mother entering the living room.
"Well, it was a small matter, so, it didn't take much of my time and I was able to return earlier than expected," Madam Layla quickly replied to Rose with a smile on her face.
"Is that so? Well, it's good that you returned earlier than expected." Rose nodded.
After that, Madam Layla turned to look at Yuan and said, "Yuan, give me a moment. I'll change into something more comfortable to wear. And after that, we will go see my husband."
"It's fine, take your time..." Yuan replied.
"You guys wait here, it won't take much time," Madam Layla spoke to Yuan with a smile and left the scene to change her attire.
A few minutes later, Madam Layla returned to the living room after changing her attire. She looked at Yuan and said, "I hope I didn't bore you all waiting for me..."
"It's fine, Madam Layla, you worry too much unnecessarily. Now let's go and meet Rose's father, after all Rose, Julie, Ava have a lot of packing to do," Anna spoke to Madam Layla with a smile on her face, glancing at Rose, Julie, and Ava.
"Well, they sure do... Now let's stop talking about that and let's go and see my husband, follow me, I'll lead the way for you." Madam Layla then turned around and led the way toward her husband's bedroom where he has been bedridden.
"Very well..." Yuan nodded and followed Madam Layla behind, and his wives followed suit.
A moment later, they arrived before the room where Rose's father has been resting. Yuan felt a little nervous to meet his father-in-law, even though his father-in-law's current condition is not very good.
"Here we are... Behind this door, my husband is resting, and in these few days his condition has been worsening. He couldn't even open his eyes now," Madam Layla said as she held the handle of the door. With a slight push, she opened the door and stepped inside.
Yuan and his wives followed suit and stepped inside. Once they were in, they could smell a strong scent of medicine and saw a massive bed in the middle of the room around a glass window.
On the massive bed was laying a man, seemingly sleeping. However, he had a very pained expression on his face. The figure of the man was very skinny, probably due to being bedridden for a long time now.
'Is this Rose's father? My father-in-law? His condition is more severe than what Madam Layla told us. I wonder if this continues, will he live until next week? His life force is very weak, as well as his pulse,' Yuan thought as he used his divine sense on Rose's father's body to examine his condition more closely.
"L-Layla? I-Is that you?" Rose's father suddenly spoke in a hoarse voice without opening his closed eyes.
"Yes, honey, it's me. And also, your daughters Rose, Julie, and Ava are here as well." Madam Layla quickly sat beside him and held his hand with both hands.
"So my daughters have come to see me, huh?" Rose's father muttered as tears streamed out from his closed eyes, perhaps he was overjoyed hearing that his daughters had come to visit him.
"Yes, father, we've come to visit you as well..." Rose spoke to her father with a somewhat awkward voice, and she wiped her tears that came out hearing her father's painful voice.
Madam Layla then continued, "And not only that, I have very good news for you, honey. I'm sure it will make you greatly happy once you hear it."
"Is that so? I'm listening."
"Well, our daughters have found husbands for themselves... Isn't this what you always wanted to hear? Now they have found good husbands and one of them is here to meet you too." Madam Layla said to her husband as she glanced at Yuan.
