"Good morning, Boss. How are you doing on this fine day?"

I said while fawning over my boss. I was up and standing as soon as I saw her.

Mary Winter was a woman in her mid-20s, a bit on the healthier side while still fairly fit. She had dyed green hair which was white at places and wore dark red lipstick. She was an attractive woman who looked like the typical office beauty.

She was the department head of this branch of moderators and everyone usually called her the 'boss'.

"Good morning Mr Grey. Thank you so much for asking? Did I disturb your resting hours? Oh, I apologize for my rudeness. Would you maybe consider coming to my office and we could discuss a few things over a cup of tea? Or coffee, whichever you prefer." (f)reeweb(n)ovel.com

Mary said sarcastically as she did the 'ho ho' with her hands covering her face exaggeratingly a British woman's laugh.

"Ah, I wonder why you look so beautiful today? Did the new cream from Real Tres work?"

I asked, trying to divert her attention off-topic.

"Oh, it's because I broke up with my boyfriend yesterday. Now, if you may, my office, please."

Mary said without talking anymore as she entered her cabin.

People around me gave me looks of sympathy and for some reason, Joseph seemed elated.

I didn't run away with your mother! Why the fuck do you wanna mess with me,

Sighing to myself, I prepared my heart and entered Mary's cabin.

After 10 minutes, a loud shout was heard coming from the cabin.

"This isn't your dad's company! You better pay attention at work. If I see you slacking another time, there won't be another second chance."

For a second, killing intent rose in my eyes as soon as I heard the word 'dad'. But I suppressed it soon enough as I brought back that fawning smile. While rubbing my hands, I asked.

"Hehe. It's fine, I wasn't slacking, to begin with. Since we are talking about work, can you tell me about the promotion you talked about a month earlier? I am more capable even amongst all the people here and my moderation has a higher track record than everyone else. I wonder when I can get that promotion?"

I asked. My pay was barely enough to sustain my daily living, and at this rate, I wasn't seeing any possible future where I would be able to save more than a thousand bucks.

"Since you are so diligent and dedicated to your current job, I decided not to give you the promotion so that you can keep fooling around in this office. Now, I won't hold you for long. Off to work you go, Mr Grey."

Mary replied in her ever so sarcastic voice, making me wonder if someone had already snatched the position away from me.

I walked out of her cabin without arguing, otherwise, she would be more annoyed.

"Feeling bad for you buddy, you didn't get that promotion that you have been looking for."

Joseph chirped as soon as he saw me walk out of the cabin. He was a person who found joy in others' misfortune since he didn't have much to live for himself.

Not paying any attention at all to such people was the best way to give them the middle finger.

Without looking at him, I started walking away to my seat. For a second, Joseph looked like he wanted to continue saying something, but when he saw the gazes of his colleagues looking at him like he was pathetic, he just made a 'tch' sound and went back to his seat.

Meanwhile in Mary's Cabin.

Mary took out her Skreener and started surfing the internet forums.

[The legendary class player is still MIA.]

[Crestfallen is going to raid Yorten Dungeon of Qazer Kingdom with some of his guildmates.]

[Is the legendary class from America? If so, will he join the competition that the president has talked about?]

[A new hidden location has been discovered by Sprinter, a famous explorer in-game. Sprinter is currently selling the map to this new location for 100000 gold coins per copy.]

"This sprinter… does this guy not know how to take breaks? Always exploring the new areas way ahead of others and then earning $10k per copy of the map, that's just insane. Should I also consider class changing as an explorer?"

Mary said out loud as she went through various [Mahem] related articles. Changing one's class is an option once as long as someone has a normal class. But after that class change, there can't be any more class changes to another normal class.

One can still change their class to a hidden class if they found a hidden class quest or class-changing items, but those were really rare. Once someone has a hidden class, it's impossible to change classes afterwards.

After getting a hidden class, the only way to get another class is to quite 'literally' get another class. As in a second class, which one could acquire only after level 300. Not to mention, getting a secondary normal class is already as hard as finding a rare primary class.

"What's with this legendary class guy? Why doesn't he want to show his face to the world when literally everyone in the world is talking about him."

Mary contemplated as she bit her thumb's nail. She was really jealous of this person who got a legendary class. But not only did they not show themselves to the world, but there was also literally zero clue as to where in the world this person was or what his character's name was.

Not to mention that the game developer's lips were sealed tight, and according to them, they can't disclose the player's details unless the player himself wants to, or the game mechanics themselves reveal them.

"Let's just wait till the fun begins. You have to show yourself sooner or later."

Mary said as she closed the [Mayhem] forums and started to work. If people knew who Mary Winter was in the game, they would wonder why she even did this job.

Kibea Corporation head office.

In just a span of a few days, the whole of Kibea Corporation was shaken to its core. Not only was a player able to get a legendary class, which was supposed to come in the game years later, but someone had also entered a hidden dimension, and that dimension wasn't any normally hidden dimension, but Abyss itself. fre(e)webnov(l).com

Abyss was a hidden dimension that should have been kept hidden. The NPCs and monsters of Abyss were still underdeveloped. Meaning they weren't at their full potential as of now.

Not only that but also the factor that Abyss shouldn't have been just randomly discovered by 'someone'. Rather than that, the monsters and demons of Abyss should have come out of Abyss to attack the kingdom of Crisedia and nearby kingdoms and take the reign of these countries, bringing about one of the major events of the game.

But right now, one of the players had infiltrated Abyss when its residents were still not at their full potential. And this player was none other than the one who had found the legendary class.

Terry Corbyn, the Chairman of Kibea corporation and the man behind [Mayhem] was currently sitting on his extremely comfortable ergonomic office chair. He was currently inside the most important room, where all the three supercomputers were put around.

He was looking at the multiple translucent screens in front of him. Beside Terry were Jacob Eves, the head of the Research and Development department, and Miller Quint, the head of the 22nd unit of Game Masters. He was the Game master in charge of overlooking the activity of Abyss and taking notes of every activity in the Abyss.

[Mayhem] was a game that was developed by supercomputers, namely Aster, Creation and Alter. A detailed world and its settings were planned by the best writers of Kibea Corporation, and the rest of the work was left to these computers. They made the whole world and its characters possible.

They brought everything to life, and the reason that Terry had promised no game alteration from his side was due to his trust in these supercomputers. They had planned out literally everything and messing with their story would cause an effect on the whole worldview of [Mayhem].

Terry had gathered a huge team and assigned every team's head one of the major areas to look after. So there was no important area where the developers didn't keep a watch.

Which meant that Miller, who was keeping a watch on Abyss and its residents while keeping note of the rise in levels of various factions of Abyss, the major candidates that could rule Abyss, and such things, witnessed the unexpected event of a player falling into the Abyss.

"It's him again…. Is he really just lucky?"

Jacob asked as they looked at the character of the player who had fallen into Abyss.

"Who knows? But one thing is certain. He just acts like a fool on the outside, he isn't really a fool. Otherwise, he would have cancelled the quest due to sheer fear."

Terry said as he rubbed the stubble that had grown after days of not having shaved. He was a middle-aged man with pale blond hair, and his body excluded a vigorous aura as if he was still in his prime.

"No, not only that sir. I think this player's mental condition isn't stable. Although he passes the VR capsule's health check, you should see his activities during his fights. Sometimes he would snap and his whole aura would look like a murderer's."

Jacob said as he remembered the clips of fights during the event where Shura was fighting the bandits and then during the time with Orcs.

Terry shook his head as he said.

"We are not here to judge a player's morality. This game was made for everyone, be it the apostle of justice or a mass murderer. And apart from that, don't you think that this Shura guy would bring really entertaining changes in the current worldview? Because Alter thinks so, isn't that right, Alter?"

Terry said, as a male robotic voice rang out. It seemed to be the voice of an old man.

[Yes, sir. According to my analysis, the chances of the worldview changing due to player Shura, ID - Z9394HZ, is 3.69081%. This change could be related to anything and nobody can guess it unless the change had been made.]

Alter replied. The three supercomputers all had the voice of a teenager, a middle aged and an old man respectively. Aster had a teenager's voice, Creation had a middle-aged man's voice and Alter's voice was that of an old man.

Terry looked towards Jacob as he gestured to him to listen to Alter's analysis.

"Well, that might be true, sir. But he has also gained a dangerous skill, which would make it unfair for the other players. Don't you think so?"

Jacob said. He was talking about the skill [Metamorphosis]. Terry laughed again hearing that. This time, there was a cold glint in his eyes as he said.

"Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore all the players equally and am grateful that they play the game. But I never had the intention of making a game that is 'fair' for everyone. It is fair enough in the sense that the talented, hard workers, and the lucky ones would get more of the pie while the slackers, casual, and unlucky players won't get anything at all."

"So it was never about the game's fairness, it was always about the gamers. And these are the best supercomputers in the world for a reason. The game's ground would start to even out and be equal for all the top players after some time. Miller, tell your team to keep an eye on the player's every activity and report to me as soon as he does anything unusual again."

Terry said and Miller just nodded his head and left without saying anything.

"Sir, another thing. I found out something important about this player called Shura. His real name is Flynn Grey and some years ago he was a part of…."

Terry's eyes widened when he heard what Jacob had to say. After a while, a smile crept up to his face.
