Day 1 of MIT

The Mayhem International Tournament was finally here with the whole world as its witness.

It was one of the most anticipated events of the current world, its ratings and hype even surpassing the hype of the Olympics.

"We are outside the Quintster tower, the tower that holds the stars of the Mayhem's first International Tournament. It is said that around seven to eight thousand players from different parts of the world are going to participate in the tournament to compete for the first prize.

What was unexpected was the format of the event. From how things were turning out, people thought it would be a group event in which one country's players will collide with the other country's players, but it turns out that wasn't the case.

Kibea has officially announced that it'll be a race to glory for all players with the top five prizes being Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. The player who wins the diamond prize will be the unrefuted first of this year's international tournament.

To stay up to date with the tournament news and updates, stay tuned with my live reporting show, MIT with Harry."

A reporter finished his report and told his cameraman to stop rolling. Currently, outside the Quintster Hotel, a large number of reporters were crowding the area outside of the Hotel's premises.

Some were on the ground, some were floating on their gas bikes and cars and some were recording with drones.

All in all, it was an extremely chaotic atmosphere.

Well, the players inside the hotel couldn't care less about what was going on outside the luxurious hotel, totally unaware of the chaos that their presence was wrecking.

Now, one thing to note was. No matter how luxurious the diamond rooms were, they were still devoid of any kind of gym equipment. As the players who had a habit of doing workout early in the morning had to travel to the separate gym floor.

Of course, one of such players was Shura, aka Flynn Grey.

Flynn was running on the automatic treadmill, while his sweat fell from his forehead to all the way till his abdomen.

There were a few girls who couldn't help but steal glances at the Greek god that was running on the treadmill.

Not to mention, there were even some guys biting their lips as they watched Flynn work out.

'Tsk. Should have just skipped workout today.'

Flynn couldn't help but get creeps all over his body. It was nice that girls were admiring his body, but he couldn't handle the intent stares of the guys that bent the other way. It was an extremely creepy situation for Shura who was straight like a pole.

"Ohho, look who it is."

A brown skinned, pink haired mature beauty with tight white gym clothes drenched in sweat walked towards Flynn.

She held a towel in her right hand as she was cleaning her sweat with it.

"Morning, Malaika."

Flynn greeted Malaika shortly while still proceeding with his workout.

"Good morning. I was wondering where you ran off to, early in the morning."

Malaika said as she blatantly stared at Flynn's body with no shame whatsoever, a content smile forming on her space as if she had approved of him.

"As you can see."

Shura stopped the treadmill and picked up the towel placed on one side of the treadmill, shrugging as he replied to Malaika.

"Well, the gym is surprisingly less crowded. Considering the fact that so many people are currently residing here."

Malaika said as both of them looked around. Flynn gulped down from the water bottle kept on one side before cleaning his mouth.

"Well, not any people but gamers. You do know that gamers aren't the most hygienic type of people, right?"

"Right."

Malaika cleared her throat as she nodded. She couldn't help but notice how calm Flynn looked. Even though he had just climbed out of the treadmill, his breathing was as even as any normal person, the only trace of him working out being the sweat covering his whole body.

"So, were you looking for me or is this just a coincidence?"

Flynn asked as both of them started walking towards the elevator.

"Although it was a coincidence, I'd like you to assume that it was a planned move from me."

Malaika chuckled sexily as they both boarded the elevator.

'Well, I don't believe your bs.'

Flynn commented internally. Yesterday after their small talk, Flynn had done his research and found out who Malaika actually was and what her character was.

He was right about her being the leader of the lightbringers, but that wasn't the only identity she had.

She was a business tycoon in the pharmaceutical industry at the age of 24 and was currently the owner of one of the world's top three pharma companies. She didn't run the business herself as she was solely devoted to gaming, but she was said to be the mind that runs all the major decisions.

Not to mention that the lightbringer guild was filled with rankers and hidden rankers.

Now, what was the reason she was being so friendly to Flynn?

'Obviously, she at least suspects something.'

With her intelligence and brains, it won't be hard for her to add 2 and 2 together. But Flynn had no intentions of making it any easier for her till his debut at the tournament.

"You look cute when you're wary."

Malaika laughed as the elevator's door opened and both of them walked out towards their room.

Flynn felt both annoyed and blessed that she was his roommate.

Quintster Stadium

[Welcome to the world's first and biggest Mayhem Tournament, The MIT!]

The host announced and the crowd of thousands of people cheered in joy, making all sorts of weird noises that combined to make a huge enthusiastic cheer.

[Today, we'll witness the stars of Mayhem in person and up close, fighting for prizes that can garner the envy of the world. Are you guys ready?]

"'YESSSS!!!!!'"

The huge crowd cheered enthusiastically.

[What? I can't hear here? Are you guys ready?]

"'YESSSSSSS!!!"'

The crowd once again cheered, with double the enthusiasm.

[I'm Sam Stanford, your host and the MC chosen for this glorifying event. I'm extremely grateful to the Kibea corporation and the government of the United States for giving me such a massive opportunity. I won't bore you all with a long speech, so without further ado, let's welcome the man, the legend, the myth, Terry~~Corbyn~~~!!]

The host announced dramatically, as the centre of the futuristic stage split up and Terry Corbyn came out of it. He looked like an ant in the huge stadium, but only for a short moment.

A giant hologram of Terry's silhouette was created, large enough that even people who were miles away from the stadium could see it.

[Hello everyone. I'm Terry Corbyn, the man who had the support of his skilled staff into turning his dream into reality and forming the sensational alternate reality that we today know as 'Mayhem Online'.]

"'WOOAAAAAHHHHHHH"'

'"WAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!"'

The cheers now were tens of times louder and enthusiastic compared to when the host spoke. People genuinely loved and admired the person who had created an escape from reality so realistic that they had forgotten if it was just an escape at this point.

Terry Corbyn was someone who rarely showed himself on the television or screens and yet was loved more than any celebrity or superstar.

[I express my honest gratitude to every single one of you. You can never understand how grateful I am, to you and to my players that have helped me revolutionise my dream into such a massive success. This tournament is only possible due to your support and the players who have put their careers on the line to play my game.

I won't take any more of your time than this. I wish you all a good day. Good luck to every participant, hope you enjoy the tournament that we have worked so hard to prepare.]

The huge hologram diminished and disappeared, and Terry went back to the ground that he had come from.

The whole stadium was as silent as a graveyard, before it suddenly burst into huge screams of joys and enthusiastic cheers.

Many in the audience were crying, maybe remembering their hard times and how Mayhem had helped them, but overall, Terry's small speech seemed to have worked wonders.

"TERRY IS A BEST PERSON IN THE WORLD! THE BEST YOU HEAR ME?"

"YOU'RE AWESOME MAN, KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING!"

"I LOVE YOU TERYYY, WAAAAAAHHHH!"

Some of the older women in the crowd were even blatantly shouting out their love for Terry.

'Fuck, this old dude stole all the spotlight.'

Sam, the host for the show, barely contained his disappointment in himself as a defeated smile appeared on his face. He waited for the crowd to calm down before speaking.

[Thank you Terry, for gracing us with your presence on such a wonderful occasion. With that said, let's officially kickstart this tournament and call in the participants at the stadium.]

'"WOOOAAAAHHHHHH!"'

The audience cheered when they realised that they'd finally get to see their favourite players in flesh.

[Please welcome the Seven Thousand!]

The host announced and the whole stadium split open, and an advanced platform the size of the whole stadium field slowly rose up, with the 7000 thousand players that were participating along with a VR Capsule beside everyone of them.

Most of the players were waving their hands at the crowd while smiling. Some looked extremely nervous while some just silently stood at their places.

'"WAAAAHHHHHH!!'''

'"WOAAHHHHHH!!"'

The audience cheered like never before, their eyes furiously travelling from one player to the other, trying to find their favourite players.

[The first game of the tournament is a freestyle dungeon raid!]
