Chapter 824 Four Pillars: A Path Realized

Seeing the immense amount of power contained within the azure light the Sellifer below was releasing, Valyr's mouth turned wide agape.

Staring at it, the young man could feel the delicate balance that was struck between Shadow Energy and mana.

Then, making use of their respective properties, the two energies combined into one that generated far more power than what was expected.

At this point, Valyr had now realized that he had made the right choice in picking the Azure Serpent Staff amongst the other weapons he could have chosen from.

After all, his subclass was already heading in that direction somehow, plus the rewards from the Gates of Enlightenment and Awakening had pushed him into that direction even further.

All he needed to do now was to adapt it into his own skill set, reminding himself that Sellifer had taken on the path of a mage.

With those thoughts lingering in his mind, Valyr also took notice of the resonance he felt from the energy, feeling his body generate a sort of yearning towards the existence of the energy itself.

With that, he looked at Sellifer to his side before deciding to ask more information on it. "Is that… a true fusion of both Shadow Energy and mana?"

In response, the woman looked back at him in silence for a bit before nodding in slight uncertainty. "It's a fusion, sure. However, it's still far away from being consider the true fusion of Shadow Energy and mana."

Whoosh!

As she finished saying those words, Sellifer released a wisp of azure-colored energy, causing Valyr's pupils to shrink as he felt the enormous power slumbering within that wisp.

Though he could tell that the azure light and the azure wisp were similar in terms of property, the purity of the energy, as well as the power contained in both were in magnitudes of order in difference.

Not only that, but as he examined the two energies more closely, he soon felt that the azure light the Sellifer below was releasing seemed hollow.

On the other hand, the azure wisp Sellifer beside him released had tangible weight to it, not to mention the fact that its azure color was more pronounced compared to its counterpart.

"This is what you'd consider a true fusion of both energies," said Sellifer, nodding in satisfaction as she watched the young man stare at the energy she had released.

"I call it Azure Energy."

Swoosh!

Dispelling the wisp as she told him to return his attention to what was happening below, she then continued with her explanation.

"On the other hand, you could say that the azure light I've generated at the time is like a prototype version of the Azure Energy I just showed you."

"Nevertheless, the power and quality the azure light showed alone was already far better than using just Shadow Energy or mana."

"Of course, it was also more than enough for me to achieve atavism, but I'll talk more about that later," added Sellifer, returning their topic back to the azure light.

With Valyr watching the Sellifer below begin to skillfully manipulate the azure light with her will, Sellifer beside him gave him more information on what specifically the azure light was.

"On the road to obtaining Azure Energy, the azure light you see is what I consider the first step into doing so."

"With how it only holds a fraction of the true power Azure Energy has, as well as the fact that it feels hollow compared to Azure Energy, I call it Azure Trace."

"And how many stages are there after that before I could get to Azure Energy?" asked Valyr back, wondering if it followed the same progression as purifying either Shadow Energy or mana.

"Four more stages, with the last one being Azure Energy itself," replied Sellifer. "In total, you'd have to go through five stages, each one being a tier above the last in terms of power and quality."

'Great. More grinding,' thought Valyr to himself sarcastically.

"In any case, I'll explain more about the stages of Azure Energy later." Oblivious to what was going on in the young man's head, Sellifer continued her words, prompting the two to return their attention to what was happening in front of them.

After having unlocked Azure Trace and gaining experience in manipulating it, Sellifer took a look at the series of notifications she had received.

Unsurprisingly, almost all of them were related to the feat she had just done, with the system rewarding her with a third energy stat that corresponded to Azure Trace.

Aside from that, the lucky breakthrough she just had allowed her to make use of the experiences she had accrued thus far to comprehend an Intent related to mana.

Though, with how she felt like she had touched upon the nomological truths of the universe at the time, it did not take long for the Intent to go through multiple upgrades, eventually ending up as a Force that was of the same level as her other Force related to Shadow Energy.

Yet, the epiphanies didn't stop there.

After she had comprehended a Force related to mana, the various information she had gained access to had allowed her to fuse the two Forces into one, transforming into the concept that had basically given her full control over the Azure Trace.

Seeing that the new unified Force was close to the highest tier of Forces one could achieve as a Legend, Sellifer felt like her efforts so far had finally been adequately rewarded.

Then again, at the same time, the woman knew that she had truly lucked out in creating that azure light for the meantime.

With that, she made sure that she had total grasp over the concept of the Azure Trace, slowly incorporating it into her entire repertoire of skills.

By the time she had changed all of her skills to work mainly on Azure Trace and a braiding of Shadow Energy and mana second, Sellifer's understanding of the Azure Trace had grown by leaps and bounds.

Yet, even when she made use of the newfound knowledge to devise a method for her eventual atavism, it only had given marginal improvements at best, cleaning up the things she had created in the past.

Feeling as if she had gotten stuck on a bottleneck, Sellifer stared at the rift that would lead her back to Veldanyr…

And stepped forth once more
