"Grah!!!"

"Raagghh!!!"

Hearing the cacophony of noises surrounding him, Valyr closed his eyes for a bit as he took in a deep breath.

'Three from my right… and four to my left.'

Whoosh!

With the thought in mind, the young man deftly avoided the three charging from his right, ducking under all of their attempts at striking his chest.

Activating [Rage of the True Wyvern] as he rolled forward, Valyr then greeted the four from his right, sending a couple bolts of Shadow Energy towards two of them.

"[Arcane Shadow Serpent Magic Style]."

"[Arcane Shadow Bolt]!"

Bang! Bang!

"Grraagghh!!!"

Unsurprisingly, with the amount of energy put into each bolt, as well as the stats powering the bolts in the first place, two of the four were quickly sent flying.

Focusing on the two on his left that remained, he then proceeded to retrieve the spear from his back with one hand before swiping a few times at them to distance themselves from him.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Taking note of the three that were still on the hunt for him, Valyr stood where he was as he watched the three attempt to land an attack once again.

Though, just like before, the young man was able to avoid all of their attacks without much problem.

However, this time around, he utilized [Arcane Shadow Warp], disappearing from the sight of the feral humans as he turned into a blur of Shadow Energy.

Swoosh!

Just as the feral humans that wanted to kill Valyr looked around for his whereabouts, the young man appeared not far away from his opponents.

Faintly amused by the sight of confusion written all over their faces, the young man soon flared his aura in its entirety, only to bolster it soon after with [Limit Break: Second Verse].

Like a beacon, all seven feral humans looked at him with eyes filled with rage and bloodlust, charging towards him without abandon.

In response, the smile on the young man's face turned wider as he gripped onto his spear with both hands.

Then, aiming the tip downwards, he circulated both Shadow Energy and mana throughout his body.

"[Arcane Shadow Serpent Combat Style]…"

Watching the seven get closer and closer to him, it was only when they were only a few meters away did the young man swing upwards, conjuring a wave filled with destructive black and blue energy.

"[Arcane Tide of the Dark Night]!"

Swoosh!

Before their very eyes, the feral humans watched as their bodies were engulfed whole by the dark and azure wave, feeling as if millions upon millions of weapons were attacking every single inch of their body.

Because of that, these beings let out cries of pain in response, only to be met with no sound coming out.

In the end, there were no traces of their existence left.

Only the darkened ground that had been marred by the wave of destruction.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

"Well then. That turned out better than I thought." Dispelling all of the stat boosting skills he activated, Valyr watched the wave of destruction wreak more havoc with a faint smile.

It was only when the wave of black and blue energy dispelled on its own did he return his attention to the matter at hand, being reminded of the large number of notifications that he had obtained.

Feeling like he had done enough fighting against the feral humans for the meantime, Valyr headed towards a building he had scouted out earlier, designating it as his temporary rest place.

Once there, he grabbed a couple of potions from his spatial bracelet and downed all of them in one go.

With both his health and mana reserves recovering by the second, the young man let out a sigh of relief as he finally attended to his notifications in detail.

Ding!

[With a 10+ level disparity between the user and the opponent, the amount of experience obtained shall be increased by 200%.]

[You have slain a Level 85 Feral Human (Mythic Elite). You have gained 3,962,303 XP.]

Unsurprisingly, most of the notifications he received were kill confirmations, informing him of the great amount of XP he'd earned from the feral humans.

'At this point, I don't even know if I'd even be able to spend all of the XP I have on me,' thought the young man to himself, faintly chuckling as he continued reading through his notifications.

"Oh?"

[You have made progress in realizing the next stage of Slayer of Ascendants (54/10,000).]

After going through all of his kill confirmations, Valyr eventually found himself reading through how much progress he'd made to upgrading Slayer of Ascendants to the next stage.

'Huh. I've really just slain 50 so far?' asked the young man to himself, feeling like he had slain more feral humans than that number.

Though, after thinking about it for a bit more, Valyr eventually felt that the number made sense, considering that most of his attacks implicated many feral humans as collateral.

'Most of the feral humans that received collateral damage from my attacks only end up becoming severely injured at worst anyway.' Valyr shrugged at the thought.

After looking through his notification screen for a bit more, the young man eventually found a few notifications that caused his eyes to widen in slight surprise.

[You have completed the quest: Gates of Awakening' Trial (4).]

[Your authority level within the Gates of Awakening has been increased by one. Your current authority level is now Level 7.]

[You have received a new quest: Gates of Awakening' Trial (5).]

"Huh," muttered the young man. "I had a feeling that was the quest I got after clearing the nine trials."

Then again, such a thought process made sense.

After Valyr had cleared the Gates of Enlightenment, he had been given a quest that would increase his authority in it by a level while at the same time giving him a quest that would allow him to enter the Gates of Awakening.

Now that he had cleared the Gates of Awakening, the young man felt that the quest he'd gotten at the end was a quest that allowed him to improve his authority within the Gates of Awakening.

And, as long as he cleared that one, he would obtain a quest that would allow him to the third and final organization under the Triad Gates, the Gates of Transcendence.

'It's repetitive, sure. But it's a good kind of repetitive.' With these words in mind, Valyr closed his notification screen as he brought up the description of the quest he had just completed.

Ding!

[Gates of Awakening' Trial (4)] (Linked Quest) (Time-limited Quest) (Repeatable Quest)

Difficulty: A

The Gates of Awakening is considered to be an organization that stands at the top of the power hierarchy, a paradise for those who wish to hone their strengths even further.

Having made your way to this organization from the lower-rung Gates of Enlightenment, you understand very well how much more generous the Gates of Awakening is when it comes to nurturing its members.

However, there still exists a higher sky above the Gates of Awakening, a sky that many consider to be more of a myth than a reality.

Yet, your senses tell you that it exists. The Gates of Awakening tells you that it exists.

You've already shown that you have what it takes to ascend to the Gates of Awakening.

Why not show that you could become a part of this higher sky as well?

Quest Objective:

> Kill 50 Feral Humans (50/50)

Quest Reward:

> Increased level of authority within the Gates of Awakening

Quest Penalty:

> None

[Note: This quest can only be obtained and completed within the Four Pillars' Inheritance. Leaving the inheritance is considered as forfeiting the quest.]

"Well, at least I have to do less killing than before," said Valyr to himself, only to notice that the system was asking him if he wanted to repeat the quest again.

Naturally, he said yes.

With the repeatable quest under his belt yet again, Valyr decided to look at the new quest he had received for a later time, certain that its contents were more or less similar to the one he got in order to enter the Gates of Awakening.

Feeling like he had gotten more than enough rest at this point, the young man stood up once more before taking a look at how much hours of sunlight he and the other two had left.

Doing a few light stretches as he got out of his temporary rest place, Valyr sent a message to the party chat regarding the quest about killing the feral humans.

Surprisingly, both Hal and Vera told him that they had already gotten the quest and were well on their way to completing their first run of it.

Understanding that the two of them would return to the camp by the time the sun set, Valyr decided to get a move on as well, hoping to upgrade his authority by a couple more levels before night fell.

Though, just as he was about to wander through the streets of the ruins' center once more, he began to sense a strong feeling of beckoning coming from the true center yet again.

However, this time…

The feeling was now laced with a hint of urgency.
