Chapter 802 Four Pillars: Realm of Myriad Experiences
Of course, Valyr did not know the name of the opportunity the Gates of Awakening had given to him at first.
All he knew was that it was an opportunity for him to polish up his mastery on all the skills that were in his arsenal.
Fortunately, by the time he had entered the Gates of Awakening for the first time, he had gotten more information from the organization itself.
Aside from informing him of what his remaining rewards were and where they could be found, the Gates of Awakening had even gone into a bit more detail on what each reward entailed.
Naturally, that was including the Realm of Myriad Experiences he was heading to.
"This kind of reminds me of what I took to arrive at the Chambers of Enlightenment." Noticing that the path he was taking led him further and further away from the courtyard proper, Valyr was reminded of a similar experience back in the Gates of Enlightenment.
However, unlike back in the Gates of Enlightenment, where he was led to a dilapidated church, the path he took this time around led him to a place that was worse than a church.
To be more exact, what stood before him was an entrance to a natural cave.
"Huh." Scratching the back of his head for a bit in slight confusion, Valyr turned around to look back at the path he had just taken.
At the same time, he brought up the information the Gates of Awakening had given him, only to confirm once more that the path he had taken was, in fact, correct.
"I guess I have to go inside, huh." Briefly wondering why such a magical place called the Realm of Myriad Experiences would be located inside a natural cave, Valyr shrugged his shoulders as he began to delve deeper into the cave.
"Well, it could be worse."
"The entrance could be me jumping down into a giant hole."
Reminding himself of his journey to the underground layer of the city ruins, the young man conjured a small flame to illuminate the path before him as he walked with firm yet determined steps.
Looking around, Valyr did not find anything amiss at all. At some point, he even began to wonder whether something like the Realm of Myriad Experiences would really be found inside a cave like this.
Yet, he still forged on.
Around a few minutes into his delve, the young man noticed that the cave seemed to be a bit narrower than before, prompting him to expect for the worst in advance.
Unfortunately, the worst did come true, with the cave growing narrower and narrower the deeper he went.
Thankfully, the cave stopped narrowing down by the time the space could only fit one person walking through it, easing up Valyr's mind as he now thought of the cave as one long yet narrow corridor.
In fact, the cave itself seemed to reinforce that thought, with the walls making up the cave growing smoother the further Valyr got into it.
Eventually, after walking for about an hour or so, the young man finally arrived in front of a decently large space, allowing Valyr to let out a sigh of relief as he looked at the door in front of him.
"The Realm of Myriad Experiences." Briefly glancing at the small wooden sign hanging above the entrance, the young man thought about how much time had passed since he entered the Gates of Awakening.
Feeling a hint of panic, Valyr proceeded to conjure a rift beside him that would lead him out of the Gates of Awakening.
Seeing that the sight on the other side was still pretty dark, the young man heaved out a long sigh of relief as he soon returned his attention to the entrance before him.
Creak…
Taking in a deep breath to compose himself, Valyr gradually opened the door that would lead him to the Realm of Myriad Experiences.
However, rather than be greeted by a sight that matched the aesthetic of the door he had just opened, he was instead teleported away from his initial spot, appearing in another place altogether a few moments later.
Whoosh!
"What…" Before Valyr could even process what was going on, he soon found himself standing at the center of what seemed to be the barren trial grounds once more.
With his mind putting two and two together, the young man proceeded to conjure a rift that would take him out of the place, not wanting to go through those trials once again.
Though, before he could even take a step into the rift…
Swoosh!
Without any warning whatsoever, the rift closed in on itself, only to be accompanied by a familiar monotonous voice not long after.
'Welcome to the Realm of Myriad Experiences.'
"Fuck." Hearing the familiar voice resound throughout the barren grounds once more, Valyr let out a deep yet long exhale as he tried to calm himself down.
After that, he sat on the ground and listened to what the voice had to say, seemingly giving up as the sight just earlier made him realize that there was no escape for what was to come.
However, rather than hear the voice explain how the Realm of Myriad Experiences operated similarly to the nine trials in order to enhance his skill mastery, the young man instead heard something else.
'Though considered by those with lower authority as an unimportant location, the Realm of Myriad Experiences is an opportunity that even those with high authority in the Gates of Awakening yearn to obtain.'
'Within this realm, any movements you do would allow you to obtain insight at a rate that's at least ten times faster than in the outside world.'
'With that, mastery over a skill could be easily raised to match the level of one's skill on their system, allowing them to bring out the entirety of their skill in every move.'
'However, aside from raising one's skill mastery, one could also choose to raise the level of the skills themselves alongside mastery, replacing the need for Skill Keys and other resources to upgrade skills with hard work and perseverance.'
At those words, the young man was reminded of a couple specific trials he had cleared back then, specifically the Trial of Four Forms and Nine Forms.
Recalling how he had to grind for hours and days on end just to raise his mastery over a certain weapon to Uncommon grade, Valyr felt like a sigh was about to escape his mouth.
'Though, with insights being obtained at least ten times faster…' thought the young man to himself, only to smile soon after.
'I guess more repetition wouldn't be all that bad.'
Feeling like the Realm of Myriad Experiences was now living up to its name, Valyr was about to retrieve the spear from his back to start grinding…
Only to be interrupted by the voice once more as it dropped a bombshell of a statement.
'As you have cleared the nine trials the Gates of Awakening has thrown at you, you have been given an opportunity to stay in the Realm of Myriad Experiences for 3 years in total.'
'Do note that a year within the Realm of Myriad Experiences is equivalent to a week in the outside world.'
'With that, the Gates of Awakening wishes you the best of luck.'
