Chapter 784 Four Pillars: Chosen Paths

While the three were talking about what they were going to do in detail now that the system update had reset all of their progress, Valyr was occupied by the memory once more, giving him more information regarding what had just unfolded.

According to the memory, the First Forger had long planned to remove those that rebelled against him after the system update was released, prompting the young man to pay even more attention to what the memory had to say.

Thankfully, the memory shared all of the information Valyr wanted to know, telling him that it all began once the settlement the First Forger controlled had expanded into an organized town.

Being one of the first few towns under humanity's rule that had villages surrounding it, the First Forger decided to enlist the help of some of the first few people he freed, sharing the burdens of maintaining order with them.

Though some of them surprisingly excelled in that area, it was no surprise that many amongst the people he chose weren't really great in governance, to which he asked them if they could recommend other people that had skill in the area instead.

Fortunately, those people did recommend other people that were capable in those area, allowing the First Forger's burdens to lessen as humanity made more and more progress in expanding their territory.

At the same time, the territory of the First Forger's settlement began to expand as well, considering that more and more people began to hear of the feats he had done to help release humanity from their past fates.

With that, the town eventually became one of the first few cities of humanity at some point, becoming the go-to location for many humans as they were told they'd be protected by the First Forger.

However, with the leader and figurehead of the city having overwhelming levels of strength, some of the newly appointed helpers began to use the First Forger's name to have things go the way they wanted.

At first, they would make use of the First Forger's name when it came to simple tasks related to government.

Then, seeing how effective utilizing the First Forger's name was as a deterrent, more and more people that had taken up position in the government began to use it more, with the tasks they used it on growing larger in scope.

At some point, these people even began to use the man's name in their personal tasks.

Just so things could move a bit faster for them.

Thankfully, a few of the people in position told the First Forger of such things happening, allowing the man to eventually enact the effective yet bloody plan of killing all of them by the time the system update released.

After all, if he were to let the power and prestige get to their heads, the people would eventually aim for his spot sooner or later.

And out of all the things the First Forger didn't want to happen, it was a future where a small portion of humanity would lord over the majority of humanity like in their past fates, treating them as mere expendables.

Unsurprisingly, among those that informed the First Forger of what was going on, Minara and Neure were part of them.

Minara, who used to do errands for the First Forger back when they were still managing a small town, had now become a more than capable assistant to the man, transforming into the First Forger's second in command.

As for Neure, being the one to supply him the items necessary for the man to become known as the First Forger, he had become the logistics head of their city, procuring all of the materials and items the city would need whilst the First Forger was busy with other things.

Though it might seem like the tasks they were given had made them fall behind in strength, the two were still able to find ways to improve their combat prowess, allowing them to keep their spots and achieve a similar level of prestige to the First Forger.

In fact, while the First Forger was busy culling all of those that had used his name for benefit, the two busied themselves as well, disposing all of the stragglers that were either able to escape the fight or were not part of the meeting at all.

By the time the young man had processed all of the information the memory sent his way, Valyr watched the trio head out of the city hall, only to see that almost every part of the city was in a state of anarchy thanks to the unexpected system update.

But even though all of them were in positions of power, the three looked at each other for a bit before heading out of the city, deciding to save such a problem for later.

After all, if there was one thing that would easily quell the problems that the city was currently facing…

It was overwhelming combat power.

And so, Valyr watched as the three familiarized themselves with the new leveling system in place, fighting against beasts and monsters in the wilderness as they gradually regained their previous strengths.

While doing that, the First Forger informed them that they should put more focus towards the path they wanted to specialize in, whether it be combat or production.

In response, both Minara and Neure looked back at him with confusion, wondering why the man would say something like that all of a sudden.

Then again, it didn't take long for the two to understand the intent behind the suggestion, with the First Forger merely telling them a couple of statements.

"Why? It's because the system would favor you, as well as aid you in moving further through that path."

"Instead of having a high level of general strength, the system would now allow you to focus your strength towards a single direction, allowing you to achieve more with less."

Though these words made Valyr wonder once more whether or not the First Forger had reincarnated into the past just like him, he decided to shelf the thought for the meantime, watching the trio continue to make progress.

In the end, both Minara and Neure were able to ascend to Rank 1 with considerably rare classes, while the First Forger had kept himself at the peak of Rank 0.

Knowing that the experience they've obtained from fighting monsters was more than enough to let the First Forger ascend to Rank 1, the two looked at him with curiosity, wondering what the man was going to do.

In response, the First Forger let out a slight chuckle, giving them a look of reassurance as he confidently smiled.

"Just like how you've chosen your paths, I have already chosen mine."

"The only difference is that while your battlefields are in combat…"

"Mine is the forge."
