Chapter 765 Four Pillars: Breaking Boundaries

Ttang! Ttang! Ttang!

Having spent most of her time so far reforging the parts making up Valyr's dagger into more refined versions, Nila had felt a bit of boredom brewing within her body.

Of course, as a blacksmith, she was more than used to this boredom, having become acquainted with it for the majority of her life to get where she was today.

However, for some reason, she felt a tad more bored than usual.

And it might possibly have something to do with what Valyr was doing.

"Is he not finished upgrading the sword yet?" murmured Nila as she spared a glance at the young man, slightly narrowed her eyes as she sensed the aura coming from the sword she once forged.

From what was an incredibly crude sword even a novice blacksmith could make, it was now a sword that seemed to tap into the essence of flames itself, bringing about destruction with every slash made with it.

Wondering what the young man had specifically done to the sword she gave him, Nila went ahead and took a look at the item with the help of her identification skill.

Though, at the very instant she did, her pupils shrunk in disbelief as the description she was reading left her at a complete loss for words.

"He's already upgraded the sword to Epic+ grade?" said Nila to herself, feeling like what she understood about Valyr so far had just barely scratched the surface.

"And on top of that, he's transformed the sword into an Artifact?"

Thanks to her origins, as well as her upbringing, Nila knew that there were many blacksmiths throughout the vast expanse of space that were close to having the same level of skill as her.

However, after seeing what Valyr was capable of, she might have to admit that there was someone who was on par with her.

Then again, with the circumstances at hand, perhaps someone even better than her.

Though she had already forged quite a number of artifacts while she was at Valyr's current class rank, she still had a long way to go in the rarity department at the time.

If she set her mind to it and fully immersed herself in the craft, she would be able to forge Epic grade items, perhaps even Epic+ grade items if she was lucky.

But most of the time, the rarity of her equipment greatly varied between Uncommon to Rare+ grade.

And now, here was a young man who seemed to have an easy time upgrading an item to Epic+ grade, a feat far harder than forging Epic+ grade items from the very start.

On top of that, he had transformed from a mundane weapon into an artifact.

And it seemed like he was planning to go one step further.

"Is he actually going to do it?" murmured Nila, watching Valyr go through the motions of forging with curiosity written all over her face.

However, not long after, she shook her head before returning her attention to what she was currently doing.

After that, she took in a deep breath, composing herself before letting out a drawn-out sigh.

"If he ever successfully upgrades that thing to Legendary grade, he won't only be the winner of this fight…"

"He could even call himself an objectively better blacksmith than I was at the time."

"Nothing good ever comes out so easily."

Staring at the True Blade of Samadhi he had just recently upgraded, a wry smile appeared on Valyr's face as he played around with the Hammer of Beginnings he was holding.

At the same time, he looked through the compiled guide [Zen] had formed after he had brought out all of the guides from his memories.

"I'm really going to upgrade this thing to Legendary, huh?" muttered the young man to himself, letting out a faint chuckle soon after.

"Now that I think about it, this is the first time I'm forging something at this grade."

"Well, the first time for my current life, that is."

With the amount of experience Valyr had accrued from his past life in regards to blacksmithing, the young man could say with confidence that he could forge Legendary grade items without much difficulty.

However, that was back then, when he was a player that had a level of strength far greater than what he had currently.

With that, he began to feel a bit of doubt towards himself, considering that forging a Legendary grade item was something difficult for even normal blacksmiths at the peak of Rank 5 to achieve.

But then again…

Was he a normal blacksmith?

Closing his eyes for a bit to remove the seeds of self-doubt that briefly festered in his mind, Valyr let out a long sigh as he refocused his attention on the blade.

Then, with [Zen] working at full power, the process he wanted to do gradually began to appear in his mind, instilling him with confidence with every passing second.

Calming his emotions, he then tightly gripped on his forging hammer once more as he began to take out a bunch of materials from the material cache.

Unlike before, where he only needed to follow a guide to upgrade the sword to where it was today, Valyr now relied on his experience and intuition to choose the items necessary for the upgrade to Legendary grade.

"Crystallized Stellar Flame Essence, True Crimson Meteorite Fragments, Worldly Blazedust…"

Chucking all of them into the furnace, the young man began to deftly control the flames within the furnace, making sure that the items would arrive at their optimal forging temperature at the same time.

After waiting for quite some time, he then steeled himself for what was to come, taking out all of the items from the furnace before dumping them on top of the artifact.

Hiss…

With the molten materials and the artifact reacting, Valyr swiftly got to work, utilizing all of the skills and tools he had brought out to make sure everyone went smoothly.

Naturally, he employed the help of both [Hunter's Tracking Eyes] and [True Prodigious Blacksmith's Sight] as well, using it to see if there were any spots or imperfections he had glossed over.

With [Zen] also working at full power, the young man felt like he had arrived at the highest state of concentration he had been in so far.

Even higher than the state he had arrived at whilst he was upgrading his arquebus.

With that, the passage of time felt like nothing to him, with the only thing in his mind being the fact that he wanted his upgrade to become successful.

Fortunately for him, after spending over half a month on the upgrade…

The heavens finally listened.

Ding!
