Chapter 730 Four Pillars: Odd Rewards, Odd Realizations

Ding!

[Pill of Great Fortuitous Encounters] (Item)

Rarity: Legendary+

Once a dream of an alchemist in the past, this pill had undergone multiple iterations, reaching what could be considered the pinnacle of mortal skill under a gifted alchemist.

Sacrificing almost the majority of their life into polishing the pill, the gifted alchemist was eventually successful in bringing the pill to another level, condensing the luck of the world into a small golden orb.

By consuming this pill, one would assimilate the luck of the world into their own bodies, allowing their chances to come across fortuitous encounters to increase.

In fact, due to the effort the gifted alchemist has put into the creation of this pill, it is said that the pill might also contain a fortuitous encounter in itself, just waiting for the fated one to obtain it.

Ingesting this pill increases the user's LUK stat by 40 points. Has a small chance to bestow a fortuitous encounter to the user.

Scratching the back of his head while reading, Valyr wondered whether the Gates of Awakening was pulling some sort of elaborate joke on him.

After all, what he did in the Gates of Enlightenment was undoubtedly theft, even if there were no other people in the courtyard besides him.

'Maybe the Gates of Awakening is teaching me a lesson in the form of a reward?' thought Valyr to himself at some point, shrugging as he thought about how absurd that would be.

In the end, he did not think about the matter any further, instead accepting the reward for what it was.

"Then again, having a higher LUK stat would definitely help me out later on," said the young man, looking at the seemingly mundane reward from a positive perspective.

With that, he grabbed the golden pill in the air before placing its mouth, allowing it to melt into strands of energy.

Swoosh!

For a brief moment, Valyr felt like he had lost all feeling of his body, instead feeling like he had ascended to a higher realm.

Though he was caught slightly off guard by this, the young man continued to bask himself under the feeling, only stopping once he felt his body return to the ground once more.

Ding!

"That… was weird." Taking in a few deep breaths to compose himself, the young man went ahead and looked at his notification screen, thinking that he would only be greeted by an increase in LUK.

[Due to the effects of the Pill of Great Fortuitous Encounters, your LUK stat has increased by 40 points.]

However, as he looked at his screen even further, he noticed that he had actually received more notifications than just one.

[Due to the effects of the Pill of Great Fortuitous Encounters, you have obtained a special fortuitous encounter.]

[This fortuitous encounter shall reveal itself under the right conditions.]

"???" Reading through these unexpected notifications, a mix of confusion and excitement covered Valyr's face.

After all, the notifications had given him no clue as to what the fortuitous encounter was.

Yet, at the same time, he was jubilant at the fact that he had received a fortuitous encounter just like the pill had mentioned.

With these two emotions taking over his mind, the young man was left at a loss, not knowing exactly how to react to the unexpected notifications.

Ding!

"Again?"

Hearing another notification sound go off in his mind out of nowhere, the young man slightly frowned as he took a look at his notification screen once more.

Fortunately, rather than obtain yet another set of vague notifications, the notifications he received were something he was already expecting to obtain sometime ago.

[Due to the user understanding more concepts regarding the staff, the passive skill 'Intermediate Staff Mastery' has evolved to Uncommon+ grade.]

[Due to the user understanding more concepts regarding the sword, the passive skill 'Intermediate Sword Mastery' has evolved to Uncommon+ grade.]

[…]

"And here I thought I wouldn't be getting them."

Seeing that around half of his weapon mastery skills had undergone an upgrade thanks to the sixth trial, Valyr had a satisfied smile on his face.

Then again, it did not take long for the smile to turn into grin after his sights focused on a couple certain notifications.

[Due to the user understanding more concepts regarding the spear, the passive skill 'Advanced Spear Mastery' has evolved to Rare+ grade.]

[Due to the user having a deep understanding of the four foundational forms and the four extensions, the active skill 'Eight Weapons as One' has evolved to 'Nine Extremities Combat Style'. The skill's level has been reverted to Level 1.]

Naturally, with the spear being the first combat style he had picked up, it went without saying that Valyr became jubilant after seeing that the sixth trial had improved its corresponding mastery skill.

Though, when he found out that the bonus skill the trial had given had upgraded into a fully fledged combat style, the young man instantly became ecstatic.

After all, that meant that Valyr did not have to rely that much on his spear anymore when it?came to close-range combat.

'Now that I think about it, even though I was holding a spear for a great portion of the sixth trial, the curse didn't flare up at all.'

Just as he thought about how the [Nine Extremities Combat Style] would prove to be incredibly useful to him, this thought surfaced in the young man's mind as he frowned.

'At first, I thought the curse was still there since I still felt my strength weaken whenever I use Sana in combat,' thought Valyr to himself.

'Then again, with how all of the enemies I've encountered so far were more human than beast, the main part of the curse didn't show up whatsoever.'

'But I seriously thought the curse still took effect…'

"…Is it because of the time dilation? Or is it because of something else?" asked the young man, trying to make sense of the curse's limitations.

But, in the end, he gave up answering his own question.

After all, there was no point in doing so since the curse not basically existing for him meant an overall positive.

Aside from that, the voice had begun to resound throughout the trial grounds once more.

And this time, it was informing Valyr about the final bottleneck.
