Chapter 960 Correcting a mistake
( Max's POV )
Max had never seen Mira as aggrieved as she appeared today and he could not help but sympathize with her plea.
Apparently she had headed off to Dombivli to confront Max about why he was avoiding her, however, upon her arrival she realized that Max no longer carried the scent of a dragon and could not help but feel aggrieved about this.
Max tried to console her and explain to her that he was the same person and that after his tier promotion he had underwent a race change, however, Mira did not wish to hear any of it.
She kept sobbing uncontrollably and kept glaring at Max from time to time as she insulted him by calling him all different sort of animal names like pig, bison, buffalo and minotaur.
For two hours Max kept trying to patiently console her and after his relentless attempts he managed to let Mira hug her as she slowly put her chest on Max's head but would still not tell her why she felt so aggrieved.
" Will you please tell me what's wrong? If it's about the marriage, we can have it tomorrow-
We'll decorate Dombivli like the city itself is the bride and have a proper royal wedding" Max said as he tried to assure Mira that he was not trying to delay the wedding as she assumed, but was fully willing to marry her right this moment.
However, Mira's response shocked him.
" I'm pregnant Max. You knocked me up the very first time we had sex, and now I'll have to head off to dragon's paradise or some other dungeon to lay our egg and nurture that dragon till it can learn to fly and hunt as per dragon tradition.
I have about four days left before I'll have to seclude myself for the process of laying the egg, and I just wanted the baby to feel the warmth of her father's dragon breath, but you're no longer a dragon anymore" Mira complained, as it was Max's turn now to be completely stunned.
Max knew that the physiology of dragon's worked differently to the physiology of humans.
Dragon's were pregnant for about 4-6 months where they first developed the dragon egg inside the mother's womb.
Then, the mother laid the egg and incubated it for a period of 9 months, where slowly the embryo grew in a nourished environment and became strong enough to break the dragon shell.
However, what Max had no clue about was the fact that he managed to knock Mira up in a single try!
He had been so careless with Anna that he completely forgot that apart from Asiva, he could knock up Mira too and as a result of his carelessness he was now put in a tight spot.
" I don't want to blame you, I don't want to curse you, but I just want to let you know that I was also very close to reaching the peak of tier7 and becoming a monarch.
Yes, I'm mad about you, and yes I want to be your wife and be in love and live my days happily, but I also want to become the dragon queen.
I also have ambitions that do not involve you, and Yes, I'm strong and independent.
Now because of my pregnancy, the plan of me becoming a monarch needs to be pushed back 3 years which is a loss to the dragon society.
I was not ready for a child, but I'm still happy for it, but I don't even know if you feel the same way" Mira said as she began crying once more as Max felt like absolute shit.
He did not deserve Mira, he did not deserve her unwavering loyalty and love as to be fair he did nothing to win her heart.
He took her for granted whenever he needed her to stand by him in war and used her influence and resources to grow stronger when he desperately needed to.
However, his shit treatment of Mira needed to end and it needed to end now!
Trembling, Max said " I'm sorry Mira, I love you, I really really do, and just like you, I did not mean to get you pregnant either, but just like you I'm very happy to have a child.
I'm going to marry you today! I'm going to cherish you forever as my queen and from the day that you return from your isolation with my child, I promise to give you all the love and attention that you deserve…" Max said in a warm tone as he expressed his true feelings from the bottom of his heart.
It wasn't enough and it was scummy of him to ask for forgiveness yet again without making any consolidated actions, but being the lovestruck fool that Mira was, she believed his words and gave him a hug with a big smile on her face.
That night, Max held a small and improvised wedding at the Dombivli palace where only close friends and family attended.
He married Mira and to his surprise neither Anna nor Asiva seemed to mind it as they were extremely glad to have another sister despite the suddenness of the decision.
Rhea complained about the small wedding as she wished for it to be a royal affair, however, she was happy that Mira was getting what she wanted and finally her maternal instincts got the better of her judgment as she blessed the couple and let go of her reservations when she saw how happy her daughter was.
Just like that, Max fulfilled one of his long due obligations while also realizing his shortcomings, as that night in bed he made up for a lot of lost time while also reminding Mira as to why she decided to love him so much.
However, as he performed the deed with Mira, he could not help but wonder that since he was no longer a primordial draconic vampire and was a cosmic Vampire now….. could he have children with Anna as well?
