Chapter 853 A broken ability

Max watched in horror as Neatwit lunged at Bavuma.

Almost at the same time that Bavuma mouthed the words, Max also thought the same thing as he murmured ' Foolish…. ' under his breath.

A direct frontal assault was the dumbest form of attack possible, yet Neatwit chose this path to ensure the safety of his underlings.

Such was the pride of the guildmaster of the True Elites and such was the culture of the guild where the guildmaster was ready to die before letting any of his men die a futile death.

Yet, what was the cost of this foolhardy bravery?

[ Gravity Crush ]

Bavuma used the attack gravity crush, as Neatwit was thrown off his trajectory to hit Bavuma and instead caught at a singular point in space which had a gravitational pull close to 10,000G's.

*CRUNCH*

The sound of bone breaking reverberated throughout the battlefield as Max watched in horror.

Neatwit's HP dropped 40% via a single attack and it looked like he had broken his spine and was in excruciating pain.

' What incredible precision! Gravity crush isn't supposed to be this effective, yet the way this guy used the move was 100% intended to cripple the opponents spine.

What a ruthless warrior!' Max thought as he analysed his opponent's movements.

" GUILDMASTER NOO! " shouted a few tier6 elite god's who gathered their divine essence and attacked frantically, however, they were just as big of a fool as their guildmaster as a single swipe of the hand by Bavuma swatted them all away like flies.

' Too strong- ' Max thought as he came to terms with how overwhelmingly strong Bavuma was, however, with the realisation that he was extremely strong also came the realisation that his strength did not add up with his actions.

With how strong Bavuma was he had no need to ask Neatwit to retrieve the time seed for him.

Yes the barriers set around the seed were great for protection against monarch level threats, however, with how strong Bavuma was he could easily shatter them and retrieve the seed.

Not only that, he could also kill Neatwit and the rest of the elites easily if he wanted to. Yet he was deliberately keeping them alive and only using enough strength to suppress but not kill.

It was a great balancing act, but Max could not figure out the reason behind why he was doing this?

Suddenly, Bavuma turned to look at him with a wicked smile on his face as he said " Aren't you a smart one? "

Max flinched, taking a step-back as at that moment Max realised Bavuma's greatest strength-

[ COPY ]

Max instantly used the ability as Bavuma gathered divine essence to really kill Max in one blow.

Unlike the other's Max had figured out Bavuma's real play and the god of knowledge perceived him as an actual threat.

Max had realised that Bavuma was a ' Mind reader ' or had some mind reading ability the moment he turned to look at him and said ' Aren't you a smart one '.

Max was sure he hadn't uttered a single word and yet Bavuma's eyes looked like they completely saw through his thoughts.

Max knew he needed to have this skill for himself and immediately initiated ' Copy '.

Bavuma, realising that someone was attempting to steal his strongest move immediately tried to kill Max, but just as Odin had planned from the start, he intervened at the critical moment, deflecting the attack aimed at Max to save his life.

" HOW DARE YOU TRY ATTACK THE YOUNGER BROTHER OF MY MASTER, YOU DESPICABLE PIECE OF ANCESTRAL LIBRARY CRAP! " Odin bellowed in anger as both Bavuma and Max cringed at his dialogue.

What Odin believed was his masterplan, was Bavuma pulling the strings all along as although Odin pretended to be servile in front of Bavuma on his planet, the god of knowledge could read his thoughts as clear as day when he plotted against him.

Odin thought his acting was flawless, however, it was Bavuma who had actually made the soulmancer walk straight into his trap.

Odin thought Bavuma would be shocked to see him come to Max's aid.

He thought his old friend would talk about betrayal or how Odin was a two-faced bastard, however, Bavuma did none of it.

Instead, with a wide-smile on his face Bavuma pointed towards the barriers surrounding the time seed and said [ Gravity Crush ]

In an instant, almost like glass crushing, all the barriers surrounding the time seed were destroyed, as Bavuma followed it up with [ Retrieve ]

" Not on my watch! " Odin said as he brandished his sword and tried to launch an endless barrage of attacks upon Bavuma to disrupt his move.

For a split-second, it looked like Bavuma was going to get hit by Odin's attacks, but at that moment Max broke Odin's delusion.

" It's no good, he's entered the state of void " Max commented as Odin's attacks slipped straight past Bavuma without even scratching him.

Odin glanced at Max in disbelief as he could not comprehend how Max realised Bavuma's play before even he did?

However, what Odin did not know was that Max had successfully copied Bavuma's ultimate skill and could not read the thoughts of everyone around him.

[ Mind Reader ] ( DIVINE )( Unique )- This skill allows it's user to read the nascent thoughts appearing in one's mind.

During battle it can reveal what the opponent is planning before they physically execute the move and can help the wielder make better informed decisions.

This skill is unique to God Of Knowledge Bavuma and cannot be passed down or learnt by anyone else.

Whether it was fate? Or fortune? But Max's copy was an ability that could replicate ANY skill, even if it was unique to a race or individual.

While it was impossible for Bavuma's skill to end up in a skill library or as a skill scroll, and while it was impossible for him to pass it down to a disciple even if he wanted to, Max was able to learn this ultimate move as a result of his quick witted thinking and a heaven gifted opportunity.
