Chapter 745 Redemption Of A Hero

" So let me get this straight, King Regus, for you lost me at arresting the man under ' Self- Preservation '

Have you or have you not verified the demon claims surrounding Max Rajput's true race?

Or did you just assume the information to be true? " Hades asked in a chiding tone as it was clear to him that Regus was purposefully withholding information from him.

The cross-question cut through all of Regus's bullshit and hit him straight where it hurts.

Naturally, Regus frowned at the question, this court-room drama was being simulcasted throughout vampire society and his reputation was very much on the line.

" No, I have not verified this information myself since I have no tools to verify information coming from an individual like Max Rajput.

I cannot inspect him and also cannot trust him since my prior experience shows that he is capable of lying on a system contract.

It is most unfortunate, but I have no options, " Regus said as he painted himself as a powerless victim while cementing Max's impression as a great con-man.

It answered the question in the best way possible and also limited his own bad exposure.

While the commoners were sure to be fooled by such a fancy answer, Hades was not at all impressed.

Being a monarch himself he knew that if Regus truly wanted, he could have long verified the authenticity of the demon claims but he clearly did not feel the need to.

Sighing, Hades wrote furiously in his notes as he shook his head in dismay at Regus's antics.

" So God Max, I'm going to ask this once to get the facts of this case straight.

Is your race a ' Primordial Vampire? ' " Hades asked as Regus secretly grinned.

Regus knew Max was a primordial vampire by how the Sanguis river reacted around him, however, he did not wish to bring that part up which is why he had to pretend to play the fool.

It was precisely this question that Regus had long been waiting for as irrespective of the result of the trial, once Max admitted to being a primordial vampire, all his previous actions as a King would be justified in the minds of the common people and the other Vampire Lord's.

Then, even if the ruling did not come out in his favour Regus would not mind as he would walk out of the case a winner, however, never in his wildest dreams could Regus imagine that Max was not actually a primordial vampire.

" No, God Hades, in my system panel, my race is not shown as a ' Primordial Vampire ' " Max said as he dropped a bombshell in the courtroom.

" NONSENSE! " Regus shouted as he subconsciously flared his aura but it was contained within the isolation pod built for himself as his face turned ashen pale.

If Max was not truly a primordial vampire, then why would he let himself be arrested without protest?

Why would he not reveal this information to Regus when he confronted him personally in his chambers?

Why would he allow himself the humiliation of imprisonment and his good name to be tarnished if it was all bogus?

Regus began to tremble as he desperately waited for the queen to invalidate his claims, but the universal queen never called him out for lying.

At this point Regus wondered if the simulcast was a good option at all? As if Max was not actually a primordial vampire then all this mess would undoubtedly blow up in his face.

" Wow, You have made a mess this time haven't you Regus? " Hades commented nonchalantly as he wrote furiously in his notes before pausing and looking up at Max as he asked " And you say this with no means to deceive the system correct?

You can't lie to the queen this time, can you? "

Max nodded earnestly and said " I can't " as Hades waited for the queen's report on the matter which verified that he was indeed telling the truth.

Technically Max's race was Primordial Vampire only for about a year.

He was a human, then primordial vampire and then a Draconic Primordial Vampire ever since Kremeth changed his race and he had been that way since a long time.

When he was only tier3, the effects of draconification were clear on his skin as it appeared scaly, however, as he moved onto tier4 and higher the effects became less and less visible as his bodily functions improved.

Upon reaching god-hood his body no longer showed any obvious signs of having undergone draconification as he looked just like any handsome vampire, however, the obvious benefits of the process like having two hearts or being able to use Dragonsbreath stayed.

***********

( Meanwhile the rest of vampire society )

When Max denied the charges a violent uproar went throughout the vampire society.

A large crowd had gathered near the simulcast projectors and were watching the case develop with great interest.

This was a matter of national importance and every society loving vampire was interested in seeing what was going on.

When Max denied the charges, the reaction was unprecedented as there were collective shouts of

' It's the damned demons again! '

That rung throughout the masses, however, once the initial shock subsided, those with even a little intelligence understood that their king Regus Aurelius did share a bit of the blame for this matter too.

" I told you from the start, Max is a goddamn war hero, he alongside his valiant friend single handedly stopped the demon army from destroying the vampire disc!

They were salty and tried to tarnish his reputation, that's it! "

" Oh what a hoax, I can't believe I questioned a hero like Max.

His brother killed Lucifer and he stopped the demons from causing harm to OUR DISC.

He was our hero but we sent him to jail "

" I can't believe King Regus wrongfully imprisoned a man, that is immature "

" King Regus was deceived by the treacherous demons, he did not do this intentionally "

The entire vampire society seemed to have came alive as there was a breath of anger and relief permeating throughout-

It was the redemption of a Hero.
