Chapter 1022 The next supreme lord
The next few days were relatively peaceful for Max.
He spent some passionate nights with his wives giving them all the action that they had missed for a decade and listened to any and all requests that they had.
He tried his best to compensate for his absence and tried really hard to make them laugh and forget about past pains.
He told them about his future plans as gently as possible and reassured them that although he was ascending, him leaving the controlled universe did not mean good-bye forever.
Max was certain in his mind that after defeating the perfect warrior he would find a way to return to the controlled universe and this time it would surely be for a happily ever after.
Even if he had to face terrible Karmic Backlash, he was determined to return, even if it was at 10% of his total strength.
He also promised his wives that this was the very last mission and that after this he would no longer chase greater heights.
Thankfully, all four of his wives understood his goals and were supportive of his dreams and they reassured him back that they would be eagerly waiting for his return and that happily ever after.
They already knew that their time with Max was limited and precious and they did not wish to spend it fighting over things they could not control and hence they readily agreed to most things that Max said even if they did not hope for it in their hearts.
The only request they had for him was for Max to bond more with the kids before he departed which was a troublesome topic for the Supreme Lord.

While Max could not figure out a way to bond with his kids who seemed so aloof, he found talking to his nephews much easier as on the fifth day after his return he decided to talk to Jake and inform him that he was the candidate Max had in mind to become the next Supreme Lord.
Although his strength was only at early tier7, Jake was an excellent warrior and even better administrator who had a kind and golden heart.
According to the queen, if Jake became the next supreme lord, the universe would undoubtedly become a better place in his reign which could potentially last for hundreds of years.
Calm, responsible and sensible, Jake had all the qualities needed to become a force for good and Max hoped that him becoming the next Supreme Lord would bring forward a reign completely different to one that he and Rudra had.
His nomination was also in line with what Rudra hoped for Jake, however, as Max confronted him about the issue, Jake shockingly refused to take the position.
" I'm sorry, uncle, but please give the position of the next Supreme Lord to Kartikeya.
I mean no disrespect, but I've been married only recently and am now a father too.
For me, raising my child and attending to my wife will always be a priority over governing the universe.
I'm not as driven as you or father are.
I'm not as commanding or battle frenzy as Kartikeya.
I don't have the natural charisma needed to make a council of monarchs listen to my views, nor do I wish to be an individual who wields absolute power.
Of Course if Kartikeya declines and there is no other option then I'll step-up and relieve you of your duty, but if possible, I'd rather live simply than as the Supreme Lord of the universe" Jake said as Max was shocked by his decision.
Although he did not say it directly, what Jake meant to say was that he was more inclined to be a good father than becoming a feared ruler.
He had seen how his father and uncle in the process of becoming the Supreme Lord inflicted nothing but suffering upon the family and did not wish to walk on such a path.
Of Course if given no other choice he was not averse to performing his duty towards the family, however, with Kartikeya also available for the same post, Jake wished for him to take the spot if possible.
From Max's perspective, it wasn't that Kartikeya was a bad option to become the next Supreme Lord, but it was more of the fact that Kartikeya was an exact replica of himself and Rudra who was born in the wrong era.
He was a battle maniac who never had his thirst to participate in major wars be fulfilled and although he was strongest amongst the new generation, that strength came with an obsessive mindset which Max wanted to do-away with in the next supreme lord.
According to the universal queen, if Kartikeya was to become the next Supreme Lord, he was most likely to not marry for many years to come and his rule was bound to be on the authoritarian side.
The council of monarchs would be suppressed and the universe would fall into harmony even if that harmony was achieved through bloodshed.
Crackdown on piracy, slavery and dark faction sympathisers was bound to happen and the Rajput's were bound to be entangled in major wars over pointless conflicts even if it could be avoided.
Nonetheless, according to the queen's simulation, despite the downsides Kartikeya was more likely to bring the universal happiness index higher than it ever was before and raise the goodwill of the Rajput's to unseen heights before.
Although chaotic, his rule was also predicted to be successful and hence Max offered the position to him after explaining Jake's reluctance to accept the role since Kartikeya did not wish to supercede his brother.
"To be honest I've never thought about becoming the supreme lord, uncle Max, I've always seen myself more as the protector of this family.
Of Course it's a huge honour and it makes me happy that you consider me capable enough. However, just like you, I'm also of the opinion that brother Jake is the better man to lead the universe than m.
Sadly, I've also noticed that brother Jake has changed ever since becoming a family man and that he no longer has the heart of a warrior.
