Chapter 284 Recruited

When Smither Gary revealed himself to the blacksmith of the said artifact, everyone in the room was shocked except for Lei Zhen.

After all, he already had his suspicions when Liu Lingxin mentioned the monster screaming about the artifact activation and how he had recalled Smither Gary was smithing monsters.

"This was just a little toy I created in my free time because someone would always get lost and can't find her way to the Cathedral." Smither Gary said nonchalantly, placing the Bolten artifact on the table without care.

To the outsiders, the Bolten artifact was a precious one, but to him, it was nothing more than a little toy that he could recreate at any time.

"Wow, impressive Smither Gary. You indeed live up to your fame as the best blacksmith in the world." Lei Zhen clapped his hands and praised sincerely.

Though his sincerity seemed fake to Smither Gary, who quickly narrowed his eyes and stared at him suspiciously.

After being extorted to the maximum, Smither Gary would be a fool to believe Lei Zhen's words at all.

"Come on, what's with the suspicious look there?" Lei Zhen raised an eyebrow.

"We've already let bygones be bygones, so shouldn't we be amicable now?" He added, extending his hand out for a handshake.

"No, I don't think we're amicable at all. At best, we are just neutral." Smither Gary crossed his arms and retreated a few steps away from Lei Zhen.

Lei Zhen twitched his brows when he realized how cautious Smither Gary was toward him.

Meanwhile, the women were giggling at Lei Zhen's failure to hoodwink someone else again.

"Give it up, Lei Zhen. Your track records are so bad right now that only a fool would fall for your schemes again." Griselda teased.

"Agreed, Lei Zhen is just too devious and never the type to do stuff without a reason." Tang Qiaolian nodded her head, agreeing with Griselda's claim.

And even Liu Lingxin had no choice but to agree to this point as well. After all, she was also charged with the medical fee when Lei Zhen helped bandage her bullet wound in the real world previously.

Lei Zhen smiled bitterly when even his companions were giving him the stare, almost as if he was always after some profits.

"I can't believe you all would think of me like that," He said disappointingly, shaking his head in the meantime.

"But are you sure you didn't want Smither Gary to do something for you, Master?" Candice tilted her head and asked curiously.

A few moments of silence occurred, with everyone staring at Lei Zhen.

Meanwhile, Lei Zhen faked a cough and avoided their eyesight.

Candice sighed softly when she saw Lei Zhen acting so guilty.

"Master is indeed a profit-seeking person. Even back when I was a pitiful-looking slave, Master still refused to purchase me because he thought I provided no value for him." She then said depressingly, causing everyone to stare dagger at Lei Zhen.

"Hmph, I knew this brat was nothing good. And as expected, he's just a selfish man." Smither Gary snorted coldly and intervened, acting as if he was some heroic man, coming to the rescue.

"Hey, I'm not that heartless, alright?" Lei Zhen defended himself, but he was already retreating toward the exit.

Smither Gary clicked his tongue and flexed his toned muscles, almost as if he was ready to thrash Lei Zhen again.

However, never did he expect Candice would suddenly say something that caused him to stumble down.

"Exactly, my Master is extremely selfish, but as her slave, what can I do? Therefore, Smither Gary, would you kindly become a personal blacksmith for my Master?" Candice said, smilingly in an angelic form.

"..."

Not to mention Smither Gary, even Tang Qiaolian, Liu Lingxin, and Griselda facepalmed in disbelief at the shamelessness of Candice.

Meanwhile, Lei Zhen gave a thumbs up to Candice, seemingly approving of her devious ways.

"As expected of my dearest Candice. We have the same mind." He praised her wholeheartedly.

"You two are unbelievable," Tang Qiaolian chuckled and shook her head, clearly unable to comprehend these two shrewd methods.

"The guild leader is always the profit-seeking one. Now I realize why I was hoodwinked into becoming the Vice Leader." Griselda twitched her mouth and said sullenly.

"At least you didn't get scammed to pay for medical fees, thinking that it was a free service." Liu Lingxin pouted slightly.

As the women conversed about the situation, Smither Gary was in a completely sullen mood, feeling betrayed and backstabbed numerous times.

Originally, he had thought Candice was supporting him, but it was all just a facade. All along, Candice was supporting Lei Zhen and practically forcing him to work under them.

And the worst part?

He now realized Candice was the successor of Mistress Doreah, so this essentially meant that he needed to respect Candice.

"Do you think my services are cheap?" Smither Gary stood up and said coldly, informing them that his skills alone are worth a ton of money.

He was still the famous blacksmith that had crafted numerous new items that had ushered the world into a new era. It wasn't an exaggeration to say he was the founding father of most blacksmithing tips and methods.

"I indeed do not have the funds to hire an expert of your level, but I do have one thing." Lei Zhen rubbed his chin and said.

He walked toward Candice and placed both his hands on her shoulders and smiled wickedly. "All I have is Candice, who is a successor of a mistress, and that mistress seemed to be held in a very high regard to someone~"

Although Candice was confused given that she had no recollection of herself being possessed, she still nodded her head in support of Lei Zhen's words.

"Mhmm, I'm the successor, so you should respect me and work for me," She said confidently.

Poor little Smither Gary could only grit his teeth and reluctantly accept such a request because of his promise and respect for Mistress Doreah.
