Chapter 297 Getting Found Out

A figure hovered above the forest, his cold grey eyes locked onto the figure of Alex racing through the dense woods, his expression that of curiosity and desire.

"This bastard is not even an Elementalist yet," Caden thought, his pupilless grey eyes following Alex.

'Yet, he's stronger than an early-stage Elementalist, and then there is also this strange feeling of suppression that I feel looking at him similar to the one I feel from 'Zarionth', and this feeling is not from the Sin of Pride, so maybe he has reached the state of 'Zenith Mortal' like that prideful lizard,'

'How very interesting. I could smell the secrets that swirled around him like an intoxicating aroma.' Caden thought, a creepy wide smile stretching on his face.

'I only need to bide my time for a few more minutes, and the truth will reveal itself. I sincerely hope he isn't the one because if he is, I would lose my chance of striping him of his secrets.' Caden thought as he shifted his gaze toward the lantern he held with misty white energy revolving inside it.

As he trailed Alex and the group, Caden's thoughts danced with possibilities while he kept his eyes on the lantern for changes.

As seconds turned to minutes, the group reached the edge of the lake, and Omori started describing the route and the plan to Alex while the misty white energy in the lantern began to take the shape of a human figure.

While Omori and his team were panicking to make Alex go to the demon hideout, Caden stood suspended mid-air, his eyes carrying a mix of emotions as he stared at the lantern with a small replica of Alex.

'Two Marks, representing two connections,'

'He is the one,' Caden mumbled, his voice a mix of shock and disappointment, but those emotions were swiftly overshadowed by overwhelming happiness.

'I did it. I fucking did it before that lazy bastard,' Caden said, his face carrying a bright smile as he stared toward Alex.

"Wrathahr, Guss, who did I find," Caden said, his eyes fixated on Alex.

"You found the target?" A deep voice laced with panic sounded from the communication slip.

"I did, and he is the same person who foiled your grand entry," Caden said, his eyes narrowing down and hearing the ongoing conversation among the group.

"Instantly use the Soul Marker on him, utilise the space isolation barrier given to you and do not approach him until you need to stop him from leaving the barrier and inform me when that happens," Wrathahr said.

"I have marked his soul, so he is not going anywhere, and I will use the barrier once he reaches the hideout," Caden replied.

"Caden, this could be our only chance to execute the plan, so no mistakes because if this didn't go as my King wanted, then even your master wouldn't be able to save you from the consequences," Wrathahr said before closing the connection.

"I really want to know why is the Demon King so interested in this kid and what is the duty given to Wrathahr that he is unwilling to share even with me," Caden mumbled as he looked at Alex jumping into the lake.

(Demon Hideout)

In a dark, gloomy place, Wrathahr, the demon commander, stood before a table that had six disks placed on it, and moments later, one by one, each disk started to release light that swiftly formed into six dignified-looking figures.

Five of the six holographic figures were men, with only two individuals belonging to the human race from among them, and the sixth figure was a breathtaking beauty who wore revealing clothes, but none paid attention to her and kept their sights on Wrathahr.

"Wrathahr, You summoned all six of us, so I presume the plan was a success," The vampire said, his voice sounding with authority, his crimson eyes gleaming like twin orbs of blood in the dim room.

"Indeed, the first stage of our grand plan has been executed flawlessly, and now it is your turn to act and perform without fail, and then you will receive the promised grand rewards by the grace of my King," Wrathahr said, his dark eyes gleaming with malevolent excitement.

The figures in the holograms exchanged knowing glances, a tension building in the room that could be cut with a blade.

"Each of you must swiftly position yourselves near the barrier, ready to act at a moment's notice. You will remain on standby until someone attempts to breach the barrier, and regardless of their numbers or identity, your sole mission is to stop their advance."

"You just need to ensure no one enters the barrier, and it matters not what the cost you need to pay, and if you fail to do your task and you are still alive, then you would wish that you should have died doing your given task," Wrathahr said, his tone carrying a sense of urgency.

A cloaked figure, his visage obscured save for his scarred countenance and piercing deep turquoise eyes, responded unwaveringly to the declaration.

"We are all battle-hardened Elemental Rulers, and if we all work together, we could even turn one of the kingdoms to ruins overnight, so have some faith in our ability," The figure said, receiving head nods and chuckles from the other five figures.

"I was told to tell you that you will face formidable adversaries, and your task is not to engage in battle but to work in unison to prevent any barrier breach."

"Any mistake and you will bear the consequences, so keep your pride and emotions in check and focus on the bigger picture," Wrathahr said, and the atmosphere in the room grew tense as they all understood the gravity of the situation.

"Now leave. You don't have much time," Wrathahr said as all six holographs dissipated into light.

"I need to get moving and start the summoning ritual," Wrathahr said as he vanished from the room.

Each piece was slowly falling into place, and the stage was meticulously prepared for the grand scheme the demons had carefully orchestrated.

In the midst of this unfolding malevolence, Alex, who was the target, was currently drawing nearer to the entrance of the demon hideout, completely oblivious to the looming calamity that awaited him.

The demons had prepared for every situation to make sure their plan with unknown goals worked, and it was only a matter of time before everything unfolded.
