Alex and Malgrix made their way back into the massive building, reaching the end of the corridor, and in the distance, before the chamber door, stood the mechanical guardian who remained dormant, standing tall and ominous, its six arms poised to unleash devastation upon any intruders.
Alex knew they had to take the battle away from the chamber to prevent the guardian from causing its destruction and destroying any potential treasures hidden inside.
"We need to take this battle away from the chamber," Alex whispered to Malgrix.
Malgrix gave Alex a side glance, like questioning if he was joining the battle, and after seeing him grip his sword hilt, his eerie smile widened.
"Summoner, I trust your decision," Malgrix said.
"I will engage in a head-on battle, keeping the guardian's attention on me, and You do what you want," Alex said as he unsheathed his sword.
Alex knew that he needed to work with his summon and not order him around because no individual with the strength of Malgrix would take orders from someone on the same strength level, let alone a much weaker individual.
Alex used the phantom walk, vanishing from his place with the tip of his blade cloaked in pitch darkness, and an instant later, he appeared at the hulking back of the guardian, instantly executing four lightning-quick thrusts targeting the core, sending dark beams of energy.
Alex didn't even wait to see the damage and appeared next to Malgrix before sprinting into the corridor at a moderate pace, and with a thundering roar, the battle puppet awoke from his dormant state, his soulless eyes turning red, instantly locating the intruder.
The guardian followed Alex swiftly, his heavy steps shaking the ground while his dormant body slowly came to life, experiencing a new transformation.
Alex exited the building and instantly used the phantom walk to change location seeing Malgrix standing in the distance with his aura of dread on full display while a giant magic circle took shape before the entrance.
The guardian stormed out of the building, with his appearance changed drastically, appearing to be a fusion of molten lava and glacial ice, representing the duality of its powers.
Its upper half was enveloped in an ethereal shroud of swirling fire, emitting a sinister crimson glow that exuded intense heat while jagged edges and flowing lava veins decorated its fiery torso, creating an impression of raw, volcanic power.
In contrast, the lower half of the guardian was encased in a layer of glacial ice, exuding an icy chill that slowly covered the area around him in a layer of ice, evoking an air of unyielding resilience and icy dominance.
The puppet's face was an enigmatic amalgamation of elemental energies offering no hint of emotion or intent, with fiery eyes that burned with the fury of a raging inferno and icy blue crystals that radiated a cold, piercing gaze.
The magic circle on the ground turned into a pool of noxious field of pestilence stretching for hundreds of meters releasing think fumes of contagious toxins engulfing both the guardian and Malgrix.
Alex used his unique eyes to see through the toxin field, quickly locating the towering metal giant charging toward Malgrix, but was stopped in his tracks as solid tendrils of deadly toxin caught him.
The guardian reacted by using the 'Magma Ward' and 'Molten Fissure' skills, sending forth a circular wave of molten lava, disintegrating the trendlines and toxic fumes in the nearby vicinity before stomping his foot on the ground.
The ground cracked, releasing torrents of molten lava that erupted in a linear path in every direction ripping apart the entirety of the Pestilence Field.
Malgrix, who still had his creepy smile, waved his staff, and the vast amount of toxin fumes started to merge, quickly taking the form of three feet goblin creatures that swiftly sprung into action while tens of new tendons took shape around him, ready to lash out.
The small goblins charged through the flames and relentlessly jumped onto the guardian, who swung his six arms simultaneously, slicing through any that came near him, but every creature exploded into shards, liquid, and toxins fumes.
'The toxins are really deadly, but if I want to end the battle, I need to engage in close combat and take care of his core,' Alex thought, looking at the deteriorating metal body of the guardian.
The guardian was taking quite some damage from getting drowned in deadly toxins, but it was a fraction of his massive health pool.
Alex used the 'Dark Lightning' skill at its full potential, and instantly the sky started to get covered in dark clouds turning dark and filled with rumbling clouds, and moments later, a bolt of pitch-dark lighting descended on the guardian.
The first lightning was followed by four more bolts of lightning, but the damage they did was good, taking away 16% of the guardian's health.
Malgrix used the few seconds the guardian stood in place to use his 'Plaguebringer's Resurgence' skill to boost all his stats and skills and followed it with 'Necrotic Emanation' skills.
The area around Malgrix instantly started to get covered in the ominous red miasma that ate away the previous deadly plague-ridden toxin field, quickly reaching the guardian and drowning him in it.
Alex was ready to chug down a health potion and dive into a head-on battle, but he stopped after hearing the maniacal laughter of Malgrix and the quickly depleting health of the guardian.
After a few seconds, the cold in the area started to increase as an ice storm began to form with the guardian at its center, but the ominous red miasma wasn't frozen or swept away. It merged with the rapidly increasing blizzard and ate away its very essence.
The Blizzard was completed, but it was not white filled with ice and snow, but a massive revolving tornado of red mist that ate away at the health of making the guardian lose health rapidly with every passing second.
After more than a minute, the blizzard faded away, leaving behind the towering guardian covered in an ice armor surrounded by a half-broken shell of magma with 57% of his health gone.
"Plague is not limited to the flesh," Malgrix said as he laughed like a madman while looking visibly grained with his heavy breathing.
'This is unexpected, very unexpected,' Alex thought after seeing the guardian's condition, as his armor-plated body was covered in a multitude of rust-filled cracks, and even two of his six arms had fallen off.
Alex didn't waste a moment and used the 'Internal Corrosion' skill, knowing that even though weakened, the guardian was still a soulless battle puppet, and unless dead, he would keep attacking.
Alex created a corrosive energy spear before throwing it at the guardian, who was charging toward Malgrix, who was still laughing like a maniac.
Alex covered the blade in Null energy and sword intent before engaging in a head-on battle against the guardian, aiming for the cracks and weak spots in the guardian's armor.
The battle raged with the guardian struggling with Alex'sspeed, and with each strike, the dark blade left deep gashes on the guardian's armor while the corrosive energy ate away at the metal from the inside.
Alex used the 'Doppelganger' a few minutes into the battle after seeing that Malgrix was back to his senses and was now supporting him from the side, not dishing out any of his previous devastating attacks but enough to give him opportunities to land solid attacks.
The moment Alex sensed his connection with his Doppelganger, he created distance before using the combination of [Dark Vortex][Dark Flame Meteor] skills.
While the guardian was dealing with the massive flame meteors, Alex vanished from his place and made the doppelganger take his place as he recovered his mana and stamina to deal the final blow.
In the last few minutes of battling with the guardian, Alex had only targeted his joints, weakening them to state he desired while also targeting his back, where he made the first strike.
After a few seconds, Alex recovered most of his mana and prepared to execute the strongest 'Phantom Sword Flash' he could, and with the edge of his blade covered in the synergy of deadly energies, he executed the skill targeting the guardian's joints and his back.
Alex's sword sliced through the guardian's four arms, both of his knees and tore a hole in his back, revealing a small puling energy globe brimming full of mana connected to hundreds of metal veins.
The guardian's massive frame crumbled while his health went down to 30%, but the moment he crashed, he unleashed the Volcanic Eruption around him, making the ground crack open with lava making and followed it up with Lava Convergence skill.
The guardian controlled the oozing lava around him, turning them into chains that he lashed toward Alex, who stood on his back with the point of his sword cloaked in pitch darkness.
The incoming chains deformed into lava as Alex's sword pierced through the guardian core, making it crumble into rubble.
