It didn't take long for Yui to convince Adam to let her into his room and he knew that with everyone being a hunter aside from Shuri in this place, they might hear his discussion with her if they just focused so he brought her to his bedroom.

"Huh, So this is your bedroom… It feels like no one has really slept here for some time."

Adam's room was sparsely decorated in the first place. But now, there was also a certain air of decay and desolation lingering around in his room.

This might not be the case for normal humans, but for Yui, it was possible to see that the room had not been inhabited in quite some time. Almost as though it had been abandoned by its owner.

"Well. I don't really sleep much nowadays so…"

"Huh. I guess this is because you have just recently awakened. Your body will take some time to adjust to the correct level of sleep to sustain itself."

Adam did not tell her that he might soon never need to sleep or rather not be able to sleep ever again. This was just a speculation on his part, after all. Though he had a clear reason to believe the possibility of it happening as the damned curse could truly fuck him up in the long run.

"So, is this the dreaded moment where I ask where your porn stash is?"

"You read way too many mangas, haven't you?"

"What can I say? My sister is quite an avid manga reader as well. She is even into cosplay and other otaku things. So…Where is the porn?"

"Tsubasa… I hope she is doing well and you will find no such things."

He did have some porn on his computer when he was in high school. But he had erased them all long ago

"Well… Let's just say that her obsessive tendencies have gone down to a more manageable level. Though, once she learns of the fact that you have entered the supernatural world, even I don't know what she will do then."

In the past, the only way they were able to keep Tsubasa away was by mentioning how Adam was a normal person and how being close to him would only lead to his eventual harm and even death.

Now though…

"Well, I didn't come here to talk about Tsubasa now, did I? So, will you tell me what happened on that island?"

Yui made sure that her barrier was well strengthened and blocked all sounds and observation attempts from the outside. She knew that Cecilia and Theresa could easily break her barrier if they wished but it would be impossible to do that without alerting her of their attempt. So, their conversation was now safe from all prying eyes. Adam had nothing to fear.

"Do we really have to do this now?"

Yui nodded her head with a solemn expression on her face, "Now may not be the best moment, but I still wanted to talk to you about it, not as Feng Huan Yui – the boss of the Wild Hunt – but simply as Yui, a non-blood related big sister who is worried about her little brother's mental health."

She gave him a small mischievous smile at the end of her words, but it was hard to hide the worry in her eyes as she looked at Adam.

"I wanna ask you again. What happened? I don't need to know all the details right now. Just the significant bits will suffice."

Adam massaged his neck for a bit as he considered his options for a moment before leaking out a strained sigh.

"I will try to be as concise as possible. Though I will have to hide some things as they pertain to my secrets. I am sorry but I won't be able to reveal them to you."

"Go on. Nothing can surprise me. I assure you. And I understand… Everyone has secrets in this world…

A few moments later…

After Adam finished recounting his story to her sworn big sister, Yui looked at him with her mouth wide open as if she was looking at an anomaly. Her brain was still trying to analyze and decipher the words that Adam had conveyed to her in these few moments. But it was becoming harder and harder for her to think about the content of his summary the more she tried to do so. What he had conveyed to her had just been that much absurd…

"Wait… Give me a moment, please…"

She took a deep breath, trying to get her bearings back before facing Adam again.

Yui had seen many things in her short twenty-something years of life in this supernatural world. From evil spirits to large-scale massacres, monsters, devils, and even gods.

She really thought that, as she was now, few things could actually surprise her any longer in this world.

But this… sadly, this… did fall into the realms of the few things that could surprise and shock the living hell out of her…

'This isn't a calamity class event. Shit. We nearly went through a small apocalypse without even having a clue about it.'

Thanks to the Scales of Equilibrium that were set in place to counter the alien forces of the universe, there was an absolute limit in power that could not be surpassed no matter who tried to invade Earth.

So even if the avatar of Lucifer had descended in this place, he would be limited to the same ceiling, no matter how powerful he was in Hell or any other planes.

But even though this limit existed, for an entity like Lucifer, as long as they had access to their conceptual powers, the maximum power output they could bring out amounted to nothing at all…

For a calamity class event, a Zodiac was generally necessary to counteract it but this time they would have needed way more than just a single Zodiac, and perhaps… the combined forces of the greatest beings on Earth might not have been enough to stop this event…

'Since when did the devil worshippers become so bold?'

She groaned under her breath as the shock she received was still making her brain go into overdrive. Soon, however, she still replied to Adam in a composed tone…

"Okay. I managed to grasp a bit of what happened here."

Once she accepted the reality, something else made her sigh, "It seems like, Hae-Won had unknowingly saved the world."

Adam could only give a strained smile as a response, "True."

Resting her chin on her palms, Yui gazed at Adam and understood a bit more of what was really going on in here…

"Do you feel guilty?"

Adam walked to the only chair present in the room and sat on it as he cupped his face and leaked out a sigh,

"I don't think so. I am just wondering what would have happened if I had not intervened in her life."

"That was what we call guilt, brother dearest."

Yui sighed visibly, "Look at it like this. Had you never existed, her son would have still been sacrificed. But the end result for all of us would have been worse. After all, Lucifer would have been free to roam on Earth as he wished."

This was a simple reality and something Adam understood very well.

"But…"

"You must be thinking, if you had been more proactive or if you had tried to protect her more from the start things might have changed and you are indeed right in thinking that. There are hundreds of things you, me, or anyone else could have done better. This is why they say hindsight is 20/20."

She could only chuckle bitterly before speaking in a small tone, "Who in their right mind would think that some random gang leader who only has control over a part of a small town in a minuscule part of the world was in fact linked to a cultist who had the means to summon someone on the scale of Lucifer— The Devil himself?"

This went beyond the realm of anticipation and straight into future sight.

"Adam, never forget this. Wallowing in regret and what-ifs will never be the right solution no matter what.

"There will always be something more you could have done.

"There will always be a better way you could have acted. However…

"If you lose yourself in the past, you will never advance in the future."

She stood up and hugged him tightly in her bosom as he gently spoke out her last piece of advice to him like a lullaby,

"Learn from your mistakes without dwelling on them. Make sure that you will never make the same mistakes in the future.

"You know this quote, right? Trick me once, shame on you. Trick me twice, shame on me."

Adam gave an awkward smile, "You seem so mature now. Very unlike the tomboy of 5 years ago."

"Heh, this is the job of a big sister, don't you think so?"

(AN: I am sure some readers will sigh and say this again. Haha, sorry sorry. But I just bear with me. Adam's mental growth will more or less be complete by the end of Book 1 which is slowly approaching.

If this story was an Amazon story, you could say we are approaching the Epilogue of the very first book and there are many more adventures awaiting us.

Don't forget guys, A Castle or A Gachapon would be much appreciated hehe. Gotta do the shameless begging from time to time.. Now I will write again.)
