Chapter 43 A gift
Suddenly the sounds from the machine changed and the pain intensified as Derek couldn't hold back and let out an agonizing scream which echoed in the room piercing deep into William's ears while he was checking the process from the screen. Derek`s arm appeared on the screen in a skeletal structure, it had a dull red glow as a device was rapidly built on Derek`s forearm.
After a while, the process finally stopped, to William just five minutes had passed but to Derek, it was more than three hours of torture. Derek hurriedly removed his arm and stared at it, his arm now had a night black device that wrapped around a part of his forearm with a screen that showed a battery-like bar and it was currently at an average percent… 57%.
"Wow! I expected a lower number, maybe five percent, seems like you`ve got a stroke of pretty good luck"
"What is this?" Derek queried, ignoring William`s pessimistic words.
"Oh.. that's the gauge for your Genoforce, it's a device that took a few years of research to accomplish. It's like a battery so you know when to stop warping" William said nonchalantly.
The cuffs opened and Derek stood up, his black eyes flashed and he turned to the door not even a second passed as Christopher walked in, though his eyes were hidden behind the shade of his hat, a smile graced his lips as he sized up Derek whose face was slightly covered in sweat "welcome to the path of teleporters, this is the first step for every teleporter and yours was getting pretty late" his beginning came out good but towards the end Derek sighed, he had to get used to the annoying teacher of his.
"Someone has a gift for you" Christopher`s abrupt words stunned both Derek and the curious William."

"Get that girl out of your head kid because you won't be seeing her for a while" Christopher scoffed with William nodding "No offense bro but the Crawford princess is way out of your league."
"Are you really a scientist?" Derek had to ask because William did not talk like one, at least like the ones he watched on the holovision "I`m not a scientist, just the guy who's great with gadgets. I`m in the same category but not the same field, I'm in more of the technological aspect."
William replied as he sized up Christopher`s comm-watch "Is that the latest nanotech and level five AI inbuilt watch!" Both awe and fascination entwined in his words as they echoed in the room, Christopher kept a flat face whilst he enjoyed the thick admiration pouring from his eyes.
Derek walked towards the door "Can we go now" His impatient voice woke Christopher as he nodded and followed Derek, they walked towards the elevator and Derek probed to find out who they were going to meet but Christopher didn't budge.
"Don`t you have something to do?" Derek`s words were more than just a question as William could feel he was trying to push him away, William`s brows arched "What have I done to you?"
"Well for starters, you played music, ignored me, and also forgot to give the leather!" Derek grunted a reply as he walked without even turning his head for a second. William was speechless, though he couldn't see Derek`s face he knew his attitude had infuriated him.
They finally arrived at the end of the corridor and the silver elevator doors opened with both Derek and Christopher entering when he saw the time was running out he yelled "am sorry! It was a mistake… please"
"Forgive the kid" Christopher's voice was a piece of heavenly music to William`s ears as he gazed at Derek expectantly though Derek`s words shocked him.
"Oh… I've got nothing against him, just wanted to see him beg, and boy! It wasn't a pleasant sight" Derek chortled while Christopher chuckled "Well played, you`ve got potential"
"Wait what!" William`s stunned face was Derek`s last sight as the door closed and they moved upwards.

Ding~ the elevator pinged and the door opened," follow me" Derek nodded and followed Christopher, the corridor was sparsely crowded, unlike the one they left. Soon they arrived at their destination, the room had no doors so Derek could see the exotic machines which were currently creating strange gadgets. Standing at the front was Roland, a smile graced his lips as he saw the stunned Derek "We finally meet again" Roland`s words brought a chuckle from Derek "Indeed." he replied.
"Let's go see your present" A proud smile appeared on Roland`s face when he mentioned the present, he was proud of what he had prepared and he was anticipating the enamored expression on both Derek's and Christopher`s faces.
Leading them deep inside the room, sightings of men and women in white coats and protective glasses began to appear as they focused on operating the machines. It was an amazing sight as Derek saw different gadgets being built before his eyes. Suddenly he heard Roland`s voice "Here it is."
Directing his gaze towards the place Roland pointed his finger at, Derek saw a wide glass table, and above it, two sheaths were suspended by a slim metal whilst a hologram of the sheaths hovered behind it. The black scale-like sheath drew his attention and also surprised Christopher. Derek approached the table and took in the well-designed view of the sheaths; they were deep black with scale-like patterns, they had a metallic texture and the black color seemed to absorb the light around it.
"It was made the weakest scale an enforcer has, the durability is pretty good, I bet you can't cut through it even with your dagger given your current strength. Also, the latest nanotech is built at the surface and forms its strap!" Roland had unknowingly appeared behind Derek and whispered the surprising properties of the sheath, his words slithered into Derek's ears as the poor guy was completely hooked by the sheath.
Derek grabbed the sheaths and placed them on his thighs as they instantly formed black straps which coiled around his thighs. "Wow! It looks good" Christopher praised sincerely as the sheath was just tailored for Derek. "Derek you need to…" Roland`s words halted as Derek's daggers appeared and Derek slid them into the sheaths they fitted perfectly with the black hilt blending with the black sheaths, the hilt of his daggers was ink back with some silver vein-like lining around it.
A chuckle escaped Christopher`s lips "Seems you've learned how to control your mediums".
Derek turned back "It just happened" He pulled out his western dagger and threw it, the dagger swooshed through the middle of Christopher and Roland and left the room. A short guy wearing a white coat dropped the gadget which he just finished and turned back only to see a sliver glint, his entire body went cold when he found out it was a dagger, and his eyes went shut as he trembled like a cat which was thrown into ice water.
"Mr. Wang, are you alright?" he heard a perplexed voice and opened his eyes to see a blonde man who was also draped in a white coat staring at him with confusion "Where's the dagger?"
"What dagger?" the blonde man responded with a question.
"The dagger that almost pierced through my head! it was right there!" Mr. Wang hollered while his finger pointed ahead of him, the blonde man looked around…
