Chapter 39: Nonchalant Daily Life in Japan 3

Parents’ Day, the day when parents come to school to observe their child in class.

Though it is an event that many in elementary school look forward to with excitement, by middle school is becomes nothing but sheer mortification for the large majority.

Surely there are those going through their rebellious phase who find their parents annoying, and there are those in their adolescence who can’t sit still seeing their parents intruding into what they see as their domain.

But with all that said, it’s something that is over in a day. So in most cases, it passes over without much issue.

...... In most cases, that is.

——How did things become like this.

That line pretty much sums up the current internal state of the summoner apprentice aka Elte-san.

The middle school that Elte-san attends is a completely normal middle school. Well, the moment that an otherworlder began attending was the moment it lost its status as a ‘normal’ middle school, but let’s not think too deeply about that.

That middle school is in absolute chaos at the moment. Mainly because of Elte-san.

“Dude, isn’t that guy the Prime Minister?”

“It really is something else to see him in person. He’s got this, like, aura around him or something.”

The reason why students are whispering furiously to each other despite class being in session is because of the Prime Minister aka Adachi-kun. At the back of the classroom, he is quietly watching the class in session with a smile on his face, fielding the occasion request for handshake and commemoration photo from the other moms.

Those of you who want to tsukkomi about why he’s appeared without any SP around, or inquire about whether he has so much free time despite being the Prime Minister, just remember that he is Adachi-kun.

Because he is Adachi-kun, it is absolutely normal for him to stay until the end of class, then to go up to the school’s rooftop and get picked up by a helicopter that flies him directly to another country.

“Oi, that person’s Princess Shiina, right? Her hair really is blue!”

“And she’s so cute too!”

“That’s Linbel-san over there, right?”

“It’s my first time seeing a real elf!”

What has exacerbated the problem even further is the presence of the former princess and dark elf who, for reasons unknown, decided to come observe the class together with Adachi-kun.

Whereas Shiina-san is smiling while responding appropriately to those around her, Linbel-san is looking at the class in a somewhat impressed manner.

Elte-san is just itching to tsukkomi ‘why the hell did you guys come too?!’ but class is in session so she can’t tsukkomi.

“Ehh, in this case......”

The teacher who’s able to continue teaching calmly in such a situation is the absolute gold standard for all teachers. His eyes being dead is surely just a figment of imagination.

“Ohh, so this is the classroom that Elte attends!”

“U-mu, it’s quite different to the school that I myself had been attending.”

As if it wasn’t enough, the former emperor and nekomimi samurai also makes their appearance.

Please, no more......

Elte-san and the teacher both collapses simultaneously.

“U–mu. Despite it being night, the streets are still bustling. How long after the sun sets do humans on this side actually go to sleep?”

The current time is still a bit too early to be called late night. Blending into the dark night, the Duke of Fresh Blood (lol) Grauze-san is currently aimlessly flying through the sky.

Going by appearances alone, he seems like a vampire who’s flying around searching for prey, but the contract that he had been forced into includes the clause “don’t attack humans” so he can’t actually do anything.

In other words, this is just a night stroll. It’s a secret that just now he suddenly crashed into a crow and almost fell.

“Well then. The power that I had lost because of that Sun Goddess has already mostly recovered. The problem is the contract with that elf. I hate to admit it, but in terms of magical proficiency, she is definitely above me. I don’t have the power to forcefully terminate the contract. Arg, if only I could suck some blood, then everything would be resolved.”

As mentioned above, he cannot attack humans, so he cannot drink their blood either.

There is the option to beg someone to allow him to suck their blood, but the highly prideful vampire duke Grauze-san would never stoop so low as to beg for food from a mere human.

“I guess the only way is to just continue patiently waiting for my power to recover further......”

“Kyah!!”

“...... What happened?”

Grauze-san’s five senses that are sharper than a human’s has picked up a woman’s scream. When he turns his eyes toward that direction, he sees a woman in an empty alleyway being assaulted by a man holding a knife.

“...... What depravity!”

While it’s true that Grauze-san thinks of humans as nothing more than food, the demon race actually has values quite similar to that of the humans, so he absolutely hates those who pick on women and children.

Thus, the reason why he’s going to swoop in to help is only because he’s pissed about it.

It’s not because he wants to help a human or anything!

“Stop right there, you villain!”

“Wh-, what?!”

Grauze-san’s sudden appearance shocks the man.

Well, anyone would be shocked if a man wearing a cape in the style of medieval nobility suddenly appears. No one can fault the person who tsukkomis ‘you’re in the wrong era, man!’

“In this country, it seems that there is the saying that the sun is watching, but...... even in the darkness where light does not reach, I would not forgive the insolent actions of a trifling one such as you!”

“Gyah?!”

Then Grauze-san knocks the man out with one punch. He actually wanted to pull a big one with flashy magic and everything, but right now he is economizing (sad truth) so there’s no helping it.

“Are you unhurt?”

“Y-, yes. Thank you very much. Um, you are......?”

“Say no more. I am nobody important, you need not know my name. Well then, fare thee well!”

The woman expresses her gratitude. However, after confirming that the woman is unhurt, Grauze-san immediately escapes to the sky.

Actually, it’s because he broke the inflexible clause of “don’t attack humans”, so his entire body has been in crazy pain even since then. If there’s no one around to see, he might have already started rolling around and screaming at the top of his lungs.

“Couldn’t that woman have made a better contract?!”

Thus Grauze-san is flying towards the Adachi residence while rolling around in midair in what can be described as a highly skillful feat. He looks like laundry being blown about by a typhoon, though.

A short while after that, a rumor began spreading about how a mysterious vampire noble would appear to punish those who commit evil in the streets at night, but the true identity of that person is entirely wrapped in mystery.

“There’s literally only ONE vampire in this entire world though.”

That was Linbel-san’s tsukkomi. But there is a certain beauty in how these things are that must be respected, so no tsukkomis will be accepted.

Today, too, Japan is at peace.
