Chapter 1334 Own League

Shui Xian not only took Raelle back to their yard but also made her lie down with him. Even when she said she wasn't sleepy, he still insisted on holding her in his arms. His excuse was that he couldn't sleep without her around. So, Raelle just laid down with him. Originally, she wasn't sleepy. After all, she had no habit of taking naps. But listening to Shui Xian's even breathing, his familiar scent, and the warmth of his arms around her, she didn't even notice when she actually fell asleep. Perhaps, her body was really tired from walking.

By the time she woke up, it was already two hours later. She opened her eyes and looked at the familiar and somewhat unfamiliar surroundings. It took her a moment to come to herself. Seeing the time, she rubbed her temples and then looked at her sleeping husband. Shui Xian hadn't slept well last night so he was still sleeping without any sign of waking up anytime soon.

It was kinda surprising that last night, it was actually him who had trouble sleeping in the sleeping bag rather than Raelle. Maybe that's why they say, life is full of surprises.

Raelle held his hand and gently moved it off of her body before slipping away. She couldn't lay down anymore. She washed up a little and went out.

Strolling around in this big mansion, she came to a stop when she saw Mu Chenyan. And then she heard her saying, "Uncle Liu, you really grow the best cucumbers. How about you ask Aunt to make me a few jars of pickles to take back with me?"

The old man before her laughed heartily, "Miss Mu doesn't even have to mention it. You always take pickles when you come. Your aunt has been waiting for you. She just went to her natal family for a couple of days, she'll be back in the evening and then you will get your share of the pickles. It's funny how you're always so greedy for pickles. It's such a worthless thing."

"Uncle Liu doesn't understand. I learned from aunt how she makes pickles with her secret recipe but it never turns out the same." She wanted to continue but seeing Raelle, she stopped and waved at her, "Baby, what are you doing out here under the sun?"

"The sun isn't that strong anymore," replied Raelle.

"But it's still the middle of the summer. It's hot outside. Why don't you stay inside?"

"It's fine," said Raelle. "What are you doing?"

"I'm just checking up on Uncle Liu's vegetable garden. Come and see these cute cherry tomatoes. They are making me hungry."

Raelle walked up to her side and looked at the cherry tomatoes she was talking about. Yes, they looked very cute. Red and juicy. But Raelle didn't feel hungry just looking at them. She turned to look at Mu Chenyan.

"Are you wondering how come these tomatoes are enough to make me feel hungry?"

Raelle nodded in response.

Mu Chenyan rubbed her head, "They look so delicious. Of course, I'd feel hungry. In my mind, they aren't just cherry tomatoes. There are a hundred ways to eat them too. And on the top is my spaghetti sauce made with cherry tomatoes. I'm suddenly craving it."

Raelle did not know how to respond to this so she just stayed silent and looked at other vegetables in the vegetable garden. Everything looked clean and was grown naturally without any pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Seeing the different colors of the vegetables, actually made her feel good.

"Did you sleep for a while?" asked Mu Chenyan.

"Yeah. I didn't even realize it and fell asleep. So odd."

"What's odd about that? You might not know but your body must be tired after this camping trip. So, it's not surprising that you fell asleep without noticing it. Tell me, how do you feel now?"

"I feel the same," she said.

Mu Chenyan took a deep breath, "Forget it. I'm asking useless questions anyway. You come with me and let's look around the whole vegetable garden. I'll introduce all the vegetables to you."

"I'm not that oblivious," said Raelle. "I know all the vegetables."

"Yes, yes, you do. But... You don't know how they are grown. Or whether they grow above the ground or under the ground. Like potatoes are under the ground and tomatoes are above the ground."

"And I need this information for?"

"Just to expand your knowledge reserves," replied Mu Chenyan. She didn't listen to her and took her on a walk around the vegetable garden. She even plucked up a cucumber and wanted to eat it but Raelle held her hand before she could take a bite.

"It's unclean," reminded Raelle.

"There are no chemicals used to grow it and no pesticides. It's safe. You can eat it like this."

"Unhygienic," insisted Raelle.

"Okay, fine. I'll wash it first," said Mu Chenyan and went over to wash it with water before biting it with a crunch sound. "Oh, this is so delicious. As expected of organically produced vegetables. They are just in their own league."

Raelle didn't want to see her having fun while eating a cucumber so she looked around and asked, "Is that a well?"

Mu Chenyan looked over and nodded, "It is."

"Can we see it?"

Mu Chenyan shrugged carelessly, "Why not?" She took her to the side of the well. It was covered with a wooden cover so Raelle couldn't see inside. "Do you want me to ask someone to uncover it?"

"Is the water inside clean?" asked Raelle.

"Yes, it's still drinkable. It's been here for years. But it never dried down even during the famine. So, every head of the Xiang family just chooses to let it be instead of destroying it. Anyway, it's not like it's in our way." Taking a pause, she asked, "You didn't answer. Wanna see inside?"

Raelle thought about it before shaking her head. She wasn't all that curious about the inside either.
