Chapter 1301 Follow My Instructions

Everyone didn't leave for the house first but were waiting outside the cemetery. Seeing the scenery around, some were just dazing around, anyway, everyone was up to something for sure.

"What are you doing?" asked Raelle as she came to stand behind Hyson.

"Watching the rainbow," came the response from not just Hyson but also Justin who was standing beside Hyson.

Raelle did not expect the two of them to answer in such sync and with the very same expression too. It almost felt like she was looking at the same person. But she shook off this bizarre idea immediately. After all, no matter if it was personality, habits, or even just the mannerisms, these two were very different. Justin was such a polite, shy, and quiet boy while Hyson was like a whirlwind.

"Really? You both were so engrossed in watching the rainbow that I thought there was some kind of a miracle happening here."

"Rainbows are like miracles too," said Justin.

"I agree," Hyson nodded his head heavily to indicate how serious he was.

"There is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. If that's the miracle you both are looking for," said Raelle.

"Don't rain on our parade here," said Hyson.

"But there is no rainbow without a rain," reminded Raelle.

Hyson shooed her away, "You go away. Don't talk to us. I don't want you to ruin our mood." He picked up Justin from the ground and put him around his neck saying, "And you, little man, how's the view from this height?"

"It looks better!" said Justin. "My neck won't be tired from looking up now."

"That's right. See how considerate I am. It means I'm the best Uncle in this family. You gotta remember that."

Justin smiled to himself but didn't respond. He wanted to hold something sitting around Hyson's neck so he held his ears.

"Ouch! You can't hold my ears."

"Oh," he responded and held his hair instead.

"Not my hair too," said Hyson.

Justin looked to be in a dilemma. Then he put his hands around his face covering Hyson's eyes.

"How am I supposed to look if you cover my eyes?"

"Then what should I do?" asked Justin with a pout, feeling aggrieved.

Hyson held his legs tightly saying, "Don't do anything. Just sit there easily. I'm holding you tightly. I promise, I won't drop you."

Justin slowly eased up and continued to chat with Hyson happily again.

Raelle looked at their interaction and inconspicuously raised her brow. Until just yesterday, her best friend wasn't all that familiar with Justin and now, Justin was even willing to have a conversation with him? Sometimes, she was forced to believe in Hyson's charms. Or else she couldn't explain it in any other way.

Suddenly, Xiang Wai also came over but she held her phone in her hand and was trying to take a picture of the sky.

"Now, what are you doing?" asked Raelle.

"I want to send this rainbow to Yanjun for good luck," replied Xiang Wai.

Raelle stared at her behavior and finally said, "Are you okay? I mean, mentally?"

"I'm perfect!" said Xiang Wai. Thinking of something, she put her phone into Raelle's hands, "You take my photo too with the rainbow in the background. I think I'll be able to bring more good luck to him."

"Do you believe in luck?" asked Raelle. "Aren't you a soldier? Aren't you supposed to believe in science? What about being materialistic?"

"It's because I'm a soldier that I'm forced to believe in luck," said Xiang Wai. She pointed at her chest and added, "I got stabbed right here on a mission. I thought I'm gonna say goodbye to this life. But can you imagine the odds that the knife didn't pierce through my heart? It was this close to piercing it but I survived."

"Maybe the stabber didn't use enough force or he missed."

"And that also adds to my luck. He was a international criminal. There was no doubt about his skills. He missed only because my luck was on my side that day. I can't explain it in any other way. I really can't." She took a pause and added, "I have plenty of such stories from my missions. If you want to, we can sit down with a can of beer to talk about it all. But right now, you help with the photo."

"Why is everyone obsessed with photos?" asked Raelle as she started adjusting the angle and checking where the lighting would be better.

"Because we as humans want to stop time. We want to grab it in our hands and never let go. But you see, that's not possible. Pictures are the closest thing we can get to stopping time or capturing a moment in our hands. That's where the obsession comes from."

Raelle was momentarily distracted because she did not expect this answer from Xiang Wai. Anyone else but her. But it didn't take her long to accept it either. After all, at the end of the day, this was still her own sister. Just because she acted a little dumb didn't mean she was really not smart.

It's just that Xiang Wai didn't like showing her smartness and would rather hide behind her created persona.

"Stand a little to your left," said Raelle. "What's with that 'V' sign? Even I know that's old fashioned. Come up with a better pose. Can't you better than that?"

Xiang Wai was frustrated, "Why don't you just click?"

"I'm the photographer. My words matter here. Not yours as the model. Stop complaining."

"It's my right to put forward my opinion."

"But I don't like your opinion. If you want a beautiful photo, listen to me. Follow my instructions only."

Xiang Wai resigned to her fate and started listening to her instructions. When she looked at the end result, she was pleasantly surprised, "Oh my gosh! Sis, why didn't you say you're so good at it? I'd have let you be my personal photographer. What an honor for you!"

"Looking for a fight?"

Xiang Wai smiled at her sheepishly, "Not at all. But seriously, won't you consider my offer?"

"NO!"

"Okay."
