Chapter 1291 Muddled Way

Lao Jiangou was checking the arrangements for tomorrow and only did he get to come to the dining hall. Before he even entered, he heard the laughter and chatter from inside. He was slightly startled. He was too used to the silent house. It was a grand mansion. After all, it was once the residence of a general. But this mansion was only grand from the outside. There were always more servants than family members inside.

And that's why over time, there was only silence in this huge place. He didn't think he'd be able to hear such laughter echoing in this place. It almost made him tear up. He composed his emotions and walked inside.

"Patriarch, do you need anything else?"

"Lao Jian, why don't you sit with us and eat?" asked Grandfather Xiang in response. "I can't sit with you."

"Don't talk that nonsense with me again. Is it necessary for you to be so stubborn at this age when we both have one foot inside the grave?"

"Opa!" Grandfather Xiang looked up at Hyson's displeased expression and smiled helplessly.

"Fai, I'm not wrong."

Hyson pouted in response. Lao Jiangou looked at Hyson and his smile deepened, "Oh, you must be young master Yue Fai."

"What young master?" responded Hyson. "It's just Yue Fai."

"How is that possible? You're certainly the young master. I was wondering why this place was filled with so much laughter, now I know. It's because you're here."

"Grandpa, you seem to know me well."

"I have heard about you a lot," said Lao Jiangou. "It's good to finally meet you in person."

"Grandpa Jian, you didn't look this happy to meet us," said Xiang Wai.

"How is that possible, Miss Wai?" asked Lao Jiangou. "It's just that Young Master Yue Fai is Master's little Prince and I had been a little too curious about him." He took a pause and smiled kindly at Hyson, "Do you like the food?"

"Oh, I love this boiled fish and the fried tofu too much. And this stew is heavenly too. Where is the chef, I feel like giving his hands a kiss right now."

Lao Jiangou's wrinkled face burst into laughter, "You're really funny."

"I'm serious. Why do people not take me seriously when I am serious?" Hyson looked very dissatisfied at the moment. He felt like he wasn't being taken seriously. Was it that difficult to feel his sincerity? He felt like he was a very sincere person.

"Maybe you because have a bad reputation," Xiang Wai pointed out.

"Major, I don't wanna have a fight with you right now."

"Why not?"

"Because it's my first night here. I don't wanna leave a bad impression."

"On who?"

"On your ancestors."

"Where are the ancestors?"

"They must be here, flying around us, eavesdropping on our conversation and seeing everything."

Xiang Wai went silent for a while before asking, "Fai, do you think there are ghosts in this place?"

"I believe ghosts are everywhere. Why do you think I don't like walking on the dark road?"

"Because you have done too many bad things so you're scared of ghosts knocking on your door."

Hyson gave her a speechless look, "So, you're hell bent on looking for a fight with me, eh?"

Xiang Wai shrugged. Before Hyson could say anything else, Raelle put down her chopsticks and looked up at him, "Aren't you done preaching your agenda of ghosts?"

"I think I have told you more than once to stop making fun of my beliefs," retorted Hyson.

"I'm not making fun of your beliefs. I think I'm tired of hearing all this," said Raelle. "And I'm a firm believer of science. No matter what you say, it won't change my belief that there are no ghosts in this world."

Hyson tsked at her and didn't bother arguing with her. He silently rushed to finish the meal since he was really hungry. Why was he torturing himself for a diet? The food was his solace. Why did he choose to punish himself and deprive his only joy in life? Why did he choose the path of being an idol and an actor now where he always had to be figure conscience? It seemed like he really needed to reconsider his future plan seriously. Eating like a bird and eating only boiled vegetables wasn't fun. It wasn't even for his own dream. So, why was he doing this to himself. He sighed to himself depressingly.

"What's on your mind all of a sudden?" asked Raelle.

Hyson looked up at him, "I'm thinking about my future."

Raelle paused and for a moment, forgot to even react. "What did you say? Can you please repeat it again? I think I heard it wrong just now."

"I said I am thinking about my future."

Raelle stared at him deeply, "Did something happen?"

Hyson thought about it and shook his head, "Not really."

"Then why are suddenly thinking about your future? That's not like you."

Hyson rolled his eyes at her, "I can too thinking about my future, okay? I don't see anything wrong with that. Who said I have to live in a muddled way?"

"You've been living in a muddled way? Why didn't I know that? That's not what you used to say."

"I just had this realization," said Hyson. "Is it wrong to get the enlightenment?"

Raelle shook her head at him, "No, it doesn't seem to be wrong. I am just trying to understand what prompted this enlightenment. Once again, are you sure nothing happened?"

Hyson wanted to roll his eyes again but stopped and stared into his eyes with a bright smile on his face, "Ellie, you're concerned about me?"

It was more of a statement than a question and he was really not looking for an answer. He was certain that she was concerned about him. It wasn't something new. But for her to word out her concern was definitely something new to him. Seeing his smile, Raelle suddenly had the urge to not talk to him at all. What was the point in talking to this fool? It was like she was looking for trouble for herself and that was so not like her.
