Chapter 340: Do You Miss Me, Mr. Huo?
‘Is Yan Jinyi my nemesis? I was doing fine when she wasn’t around but as soon as she came back, I started messing up.’
Liu Ran gritted her teeth and tried her best to contain her anger while forcing a smile. She then bowed to Chen Keyi and said, “Thank you for your guidance, Director Chen, I’ll be sure to make improvements.”
Chen Keyi humphed. “Learn to be like Jinyi. Look at her, she has never made such an elementary mistake.”
As a famous celebrity of the entertainment industry, what she couldn’t tolerate the most was being compared to a newbie.
“Okay, continue with the filming. Mr. Peng is hosting a banquet tonight and he specially saved a few seats for us. If you keep acting like this, I’ll give your spot to someone else!”
Liu Ran’s eyes lit up when she heard that. “Director Chen, are you referring to Peng Wusheng?”
“Who else can it be?”
‘Peng Wusheng?’
Yan Jinyi was shocked too because Peng Wusheng was the person whom the former Yan Jinyi respected and admired the most.
Peng Wusheng was an old artist who acted in lots of renowned theatrical shows, and was definitely one of the pioneers of the entertainment industry in the country.
He had two apprentices, one of whom was developing his career well in Hollywood and the other was Zhuang Heng.
Anyone who could receive his pointers would definitely see a great improvement in their acting skills.
She wondered if she was in the list of invited guests.
Perhaps because they were going to attend Peng Wusheng’s banquet, the crew wrapped up much earlier than usual today.
“Jinyi, go doll yourself up, you have to behave well at the banquet tonight and once you get into Mr. Peng’ good books, you might get to work with international stars in your next film.”
Yan Jinyi nodded perfunctorily.
She was reluctant to work with foreigners because of the language barrier.
“And, is there some kind of a feud between you and Liu Ran?”
Yan Jinyi asked with a straight face, “Why do you ask so, Director Chen?”
“I could tell that you two kept going against each other and Tao Wei has also told me about what happened between him and Lin Chengggong. I said before, Liu Ran must have a high status in the industry since she had so many attainments. You’d better avoid having a conflict with her.”
Chen Keyi sighed and said, “Tao Wei asked me to take good care of you, I won’t cheat you.”
‘Chen Keyi has already seen through her. Liu Ran is not that impressive after all!’
“Thank you for the reminder, Director Chen.”
‘What a joke. I’m still waiting to provoke Liu Ran and anger her. Avoid getting into a conflict with her? Impossible.’
Surprisingly, Peng Wusheng’s house was actually a less-than-ten-minute drive from the Huo family estate.
It was the 70th birthday of Peng Wusheng’s wife tonight.

Soon after Yan Jinyi followed Chen Keyi into the door of Peng Wusheng’s house, her cell phone started ringing.
She glanced at the caller ID to see that it was a call from Huo Xishen.
Chen Keyi then went to the garden alone. As soon as Yan Jinyi picked up the call, she couldn’t help but tease, “Mr. Huo, you actually took the initiative to call me. Do you miss me already?”
“Darling, you’re worrying too much.”
‘Gee…’
Yan Jinyi pursed her lips. ‘What a boring man.’
“Darling, why aren’t you home yet?”
“I’m attending the birthday banquet of Peng Wusheng’s wife.”
On the other end of the line, Huo Xishen suddenly fell silent, and Yan Jinyi was about to speak but she soon heard his alluring voice again. “Peng Wusheng’s wife is very noble and hates people who rely on dirty and scheming tricks to get to the top. She was originally supposed to be Peng Wusheng’s lawful wife but a home wrecker drove a wedge between the two of them. So, she really hates hussies who ruin others’ relationships.”
That was the first time Huo Xishen had said so much in one breath!
