Chapter 9: Zale’s Outburst

CHAPTER 9

“Hmm, where is he?” The man in the black outfit asked, the men wearing a blank look on his face.

“Boss, he is inside the mansion, awaiting your arrival.”

“Okay. Park the car and get my Venza ready,” the young man, Zale Anders said, throwing the keys to the bodyguard that spoke.

“Yes, boss.”

Without saying a word, he walked past them majestically and entered into the mansion. On getting inside the house, three female attendants in maid’s outfit rushed to where he was at the door. freewebno(v)el.com

They bowed their heads upon seeing him and greeted. “Welcome, young master.”

“Where is he?” he asked, not bothering to spare them a glance.

“Mr. Vamp is in the second living room, young master.”

“Okay.”

He left them at the entrance and made his way to his left, where the second living room was at. In no time, he was already at the door of the living room. His gaze flickered to the left as his eyes caught sight of a man sitting on the white and black furry cushion.

Silently, he took several steps in, unbuttoning his suit as he went, till he came to stand at the space in between the cushion.

“Ahem!”

He cleared his throat softly to alert the man seated there. Immediately the other man spran up on his feet and turned around.

His cold eyes met with his boss and he quickly greeted him, straightening his suit.

“Welcome boss.”

“Hmm, I see you are relaxing. It must have gone well, the mission.”

He moved in, taking off his suit and sat down on one of the furry cushions, signaling for the other man to do the same and he did.

Immediately, a maid rushed out from one of the doors connected to the second living room and took the suit jacket from his outstretched arm.

Without a word, she bowed and left with the suit jacket in her hands. At the same time, two other maids came in, each bearing a bottle of wine and glasses in a tray in their hands.

The only difference was the type of drink they held, while one carried a champagne, the other carried a red wine for the boss’s friend.

They moved in front of the two men and placed the tray on the table in front of them, before they bowed down to the young master and awaited his orders at the side.

“Do you need an invitation to serve me?!” he half yelled at the maids.

Like scurrying cats, they rushed to his front and bowed apologetically at him, before corking the lid and serving both men, then handed it over.

“Scram,” he said in a low voice at the young girls in front of him.

Not wanting to annoy the young master further, they dashed out of the living room.

Meanwhile, the man at the other cushion watched everything that transpired and didn’t bother to say a word.

It was his boss’s way of life. No one dared interfere.

“I am sorry boss, the operation went well.” The other man in a black suit, Mr. Vamp replied before taking a deep breath, then looked at his boss.

“But...” The young master spoke up, arching his brows at the other man as he brought his half filled wine glass to his lips and took a sip of his drink.

“But, we lost her.”

Immediately the words fell out of Mr. Vamp’s mouth, Zale threw his wine glass on the tiled ground, getting up.

Vamp did the same and stood up immediately, with his head hung low.

“What do you mean that you lost her? How can you let her escape? No one was to live!” He bellowed at Vamp, his hands tightening into a ball at his side.

The maids who were at the other side of the living room door trembled in fear at the outburst of their young master.

They knew they were in for some trouble now. It was already one thing to anger the short-tempered young master and now this one just failed an order.

Unfortunately, anyone he called on now, to clean the mess in the living room would go in for it.

“It was a simple job, Vamp. How could one little girl escape?”

“She had help, because by the time we got to where their car was that fell off the road down to the lane below and exploded, there was no one there. We only saw her personal bodyguard trying to escape by jumping off the bridge and we shot her dead on the spot.”

He paused and took a glance at Zale, taking into account how he took the news before he continued.

“Through the chaos, she must have escaped or jumped off the bridge before we arrived,” he quickly explained.

“Since you are not sure, did you check the CCTV footage of that road?”

“Not yet sir. We have men retrieving the footage as we speak.”

“That’s too slow. What have you been doing all night? She could be anywhere in the city now or worse have fled from here.”

“The police wouldn’t release the footage. It has been handed over for investigation of what really transpired there,” Vamp defended, his head raised as he explained the reason for the delay.

“Since when have we done things fairly? Bribe whomever needs to be bribed and get that footage immediately,” Zale yelled at him.

“Yes, boss. Right away.”

Zale picked up the champagne bottle then brought it to his lips and gulped some wine down before stopping Vamp who was already at the entrance of the living room.

“By the way, where is the most important thing? Did you find the seal?” Zale asked, making Vamp stop in his tracks.

He quickly turned in time to see the seething rage on Zale’s face as he broke the news to him.

“I’m afraid not, boss.”

“You...”

Before Zale could utter another word, Vamp spoke up, interjecting his speech. “It was nowhere in the house.”

That was it, he flung the bottle in his hands at the wall, making it shatter to pieces on the ground as a deep growl left his throat.

“You had one job to do, kill everyone except the heiress. Capture her and make her give you the seal, then you kill her!” Zale shouted, glaring daggers at Vamp.
