Chapter 344 Still Crazy About Him

Charlotte's POV

"Thank you so much, Hunter; I really enjoyed our time together. And thank you for coming here and for being my first guest." I said after he helped me climb out of the car.

"You are welcome, and it was my pleasure. I had a great time with you, Charlotte. And this would not be the last, since I will be coming back." My brother replied as he smiled at me.

"Next time, I plan to bring Madeline," he added, and I was speechless.

"Are you okay? Why did you suddenly fall silent, and you looked pale." Hunter asked as he looked at me.

"Do you think she will accompany you knowing I am running this place?" I asked, and he nodded.

"Of course, you don't need to feel worried about meeting my wife again, Charlotte." My brother responded.

"Aren't you afraid I will do something evil to her?" I asked, and he shook his head.

"I know you cannot hurt anyone, Charlotte; what you have done in the past does not matter. You regretted them, and like me, my wife is willing to give you another chance to prove your worth." He replied.

"I am sure Madeline will be thrilled to visit you here," Hunted added as I weakly smiled at him.

"Good night, it is getting late. I know you are now an early riser. It shocked me initially, but when I witnessed how dedicated you are to your work, I felt proud of you." My brother said, and I blushed with his compliments.

"Thanks, good night, big brother," I shyly replied.

Hunter sent me to my room, and we bid good night to each other again. I got inside my room with a broad smile on my face, and I admit I felt better after spending time with him.

He made me forget the pain I felt before I left the manor, but after I took a shower and put on my nightdress, I couldn't stop feeling alone again, and I couldn't stop myself from thinking about Jack no matter how I tried to forget about him and Cecily.

It would be hard on my part to work with them every day, and I don't know if I will learn to accept the reality that I could never have Jack.

The loud knocking on my door made me wake up from my deep slumber, and I wondered who it could be. I looked at the clock on the wall and realized it was still 4.00 a.m., and I suddenly felt nervous about what was happening.

"Hunter? Are you okay?" I asked after I opened my door and found my brother standing at my doorstep, and he was already fresh from the shower. He was wearing a gray suit.

"I am sorry to wake you up this early. I got a call last night, and I didn't want to disturb your sleep; I need to leave now, Char." He declared as he towered over me, and my eyes widened as I stared at him.

I no longer need coffee to make me feel fully awake since his statement shocked me.

"But why?" I asked in confusion.

"I need to go back. Something urgent came up, and I needed to report to the office today. I am sorry, I really wanted to stay longer, but I can't. I hope you understand, but don't worry, I know the rules. I will not ask for a refund." He declared, and I shook my head.

"Hunter, I am not upset because of the money. I am just excited, and I was hoping to spend more time with you," I responded, and he beamed at me.

"I know, I was only teasing you. I understand how you feel because I feel the same way. Don't worry, I will make it up to you. In my next vacation, I will make sure there will be no trouble in the company." He said.

"Okay, have a safe flight, and take care," I replied as I faced him.

I almost got back to my room when Jack's bedroom door opened up, and he emerged wearing shorts and a sleeveless tank top that showcased his toned chest and arms.

"Good morning, Hunter. Are you ready?" He asked, and I didn't need to ask what he meant since I could see the car key dangling from his hand.

"Yeah, Charlotte, I know it was too much to ask, but it would be wonderful if you would send me to the airport with Jack." My brother declared, and I couldn't say no, Hunter.

"Yes, of course, I would love to, but I needed to change. I will be ready in five minutes," I replied and hastily entered my room.

I quickly toothbrush my teeth, then pull out the first dress I found in my closet and get dressed at the speed of lightning. I pulled my hair into a ponytail using an elastic bond. I grabbed my purse after I put on lip gloss on my lips.

I got out of my room running, and I took the stairs two steps at a time and made my way to the main door.

Jack already turned on the ignition, and Hunter was already sitting in the front seat while Jack was standing near the back passenger's door. And I hated that I felt conscious as I looked at him open the door for me.

I said my thanks after I got inside the car, doing my best to avoid his intense gaze, and he mumbled welcome as he gently closed the door.

Hunter and Jack were talking while I tried not to participate in their conversation, but Hunter was doing his best to include me, and I couldn't ignore them talking to me. I had to answer Jack's questions while trying to sound enthusiastic since I didn't want my brother to know something was happening.

He can't find out that I am upset because I found my chef cook kissing my friend. I don't consider Cecily as my employee at all; she was a close friend, and I don't want to change even if I feel jealous that they are now dating.

It was all my fault; I hurt Jack, and I couldn't blame him if he fell in love with Cecily. She was beautiful and sweet, and I could tell it wasn't hard for him to fall in love with my friend. In his eyes, I will always be the spoiled brat of the Divenson family.

I opened the door before Jack could the moment we arrived at the airport.

"Jack, thank you for driving me here at the airport; please take care of my little sister for me," Hunter said the moment we reached the departure area.

"I can take care of myself, Hunter. I am an adult, and I don't need a babysitter," I said, feeling irritated, and my brother only laughed as he turned to face me.

"Of course, you don't need to remind me about that, Charlotte. I am aware you are an independent young woman, and you can surely take care of yourself, but it would be different if a man would take care of you." He replied with a wink, and I blushed.

He didn't know Jack had a change of heart, and I couldn't tell him about it in front of Jack.

"Thank you so much for your time, Charlotte. I really appreciate your presence here. Take care always," Hunter added as he looked at me with brotherly love in his eyes.

"You are welcome. Keep safe," I responded, and my brother leaned down and kissed my cheeks.

I was watching Hunter's figure until he was lost in the crowd, and I didn't have a choice but to turn around and face Jack.

"Are you hungry?" He asked.

"No," I responded as I walked past him, but Jack had long legs, and he was able to keep up with me.

"I know a place that serves delicious breakfast," he declared as he looked at me.

"I am not hungry, and I am not planning to eat breakfast with you," I responded, and I walked as fast as I could.

"Please, I am hungry," he begged as he tried to block my way. I tried to move to my right, but he was fast and moved to his left.

"What are you doing, Jack?" I asked with a stern tone.

"I just want to have breakfast with you. It is still early. Besides, our next guest will be arriving this afternoon, and we have plenty of time to prepare." He responded.

"Do you think Cecily would feel happy if she found out we had breakfast together?" I asked, and he laughed.

"What is so funny, Mr. Morigan? Cecily and I are friends, and I don't like what you are doing." I added.

"Nothing is wrong if I have breakfast with you. I am not taking you on a date." He replied, which made me furious that I stomped on his feet, and he was groaning as I walked away from him with a wide smile on my face.

"Are you a kid?" He asked behind me, and I didn't answer him as I continued to walk towards the parking lot. And before I could open the car door, he held my wrist and spun me around.

My heart raced as I inhaled his intoxicating scent, and when Jack pulled me closer to him, I had to close my eyes since I didn't want to look like a fool in front of him, and I felt scared if I would do something stupid that would lead him to find out I am still crazy about him.
