729 Silently Watching Her
It did not take Fu Chen a long time to return to Bai Xi Xi’s side.
Seeing the bright smile on Fu Chen’s face made Bai Xi Xi wonder just what was it that made Fu Chen seem very happy.
Of course, Bai Xi Xi was unaware that Fu Chen was just too happy that it has been a while since he had walked with her home. Fu Chen began to think that walking alone was quite boring. Although Bai Xi Xi was not much of a talker, he seemed to enjoy her presence very much.
Bai Xi Xi turned around and walked to the entrance. A few seconds later, she realized that Fu Chen has been keeping a distance from her.
Her steps halted. Bai Xi Xi was about to turn around and say something when she recalled the gossip between her and Fu Chen not too long ago.
Pursing her lips, Bai Xi Xi finally walked out of the school’s building with Fu Chen following her in a certain distance.
Bai Xi Xi thought that this situation was a little funny.
Fu Chen said that he wanted to walk her home, but could this be counted as walking her home?
Still, knowing that the man did not want to create unnecessary gossip between them made her feel a little restless.

Once they have walked farther away from school, Fu Chen hastened his pace to get to Bai Xi Xi’s side. The two of them were walking side by side in silence.
Fu Chen lowered his head to hide his smile. He could not deny that he liked walking home with Bai Xi Xi like this. Once in a while, Fu Chen would steal a few glances at Bai Xi Xi, hoping that she would not find out about it.
“Why are you looking at me?” Bai Xi Xi tilted her head to one side. “Is there anything you wanted to say to me?”
Her voice made him pause. Fu Chen was not expecting Bai Xi Xi would still notice that he was silently watching her.
Fu Chen coughed. “I just remember something... Yang Xu said that there will be a match after the exam. Class Monitor, last time, you said that you were going to come and support me.”
Bai Xi Xi paused. Then, she recalled that she had indeed said something like that. “Then, I will go and watch your match.”
His heart leaped with excitement at the thought that Bai Xi Xi would be watching him play and cheer for him. Suddenly, Fu Chen was looking forward to this match sooner.
“But you must not forget to study well for the exam.”
Hearing her words made Fu Chen smile. “Class Monitor, I know.” The smile on his face was very hard to erase. “This time, if I get a good result, will you still teach me a few moves?”
Bai Xi Xi looked him up and down before flashing him a smile. “Let’s look at your result first. Then, we can talk about this matter later.”
Fu Chen laughed. “You... really do like studying, don’t you?
“It’s not about liking. But, you will have a brighter future if you have good results. And you will have many options in life,” Bai Xi Xi said.
Fu Chen recalled that they were in their final year and will be furthering their studies next. He suddenly realized that he might not have a chance to see Bai Xi Xi again after he graduated from high school.
“Then, Class Monitor, what are you planning to do after graduating high school?”
“I haven’t really figured out what I wanted to study. There were so many fields that interest me.”
Fu Chen pursed her lips into a thin line. He wondered if he should start to seriously think about what he wanted to do later.
“You’re quite smart. Are you going to apply and study in Capital City? Or studying abroad?” Fu Chen asked.
He figured that if they were studying at the same place, it would be convenient for him to see Bai Xi Xi again. But... Bai Xi Xi was a smart student and was at the top of the class.
It might be a little difficult for him to catch up with her.
“I don’t plan to go very far from my family.” Bai Xi Xi smiled. “I planned to go to B City University.”
Bai Xi Xi thought that there was no harm in telling Fu Chen where she wanted to go. After all, she already made her decision to study in B City after a brief discussion with her sister-in-law.
“That’s quite close.” Fu Chen began to wonder if he should look into this university as well.
Currently, he hasn’t decided what he wanted to do next. Since it was the case, it should be alright if he wanted to look into B City University, right?
“Then, what about you?” Bai Xi Xi turned to look at Fu Chen. “Have you decided what you wanted to do?”
Fu Chen touched the tip of his nose. “I still haven’t figured out what I wanted to do. I am thinking that I might just go with the flow.”
Bai Xi Xi thought of Fu Chen’s family situation.
Although she did not quite understand what was going on, she could see that his siblings and his mother depended on Fu Chen a lot.
Soon, they both walked past the park. Fu Chen glanced at the ice cream shop nearby the park and spoke, “Class Monitor, why don’t I treat you to some ice cream? Last time you helped me with the basketball match. I still did not treat you something good after winning.”
Bai Xi Xi was absent from school for two days.
When she was not around, Fu Chen already treated Yan Li and the rest to some milk tea nearby their school area as he had promised.
“Class Monitor, just think of this as my way to thank you. Otherwise, I would not feel good about it,” Fu Chen added quickly, worried that Bai Xi Xi was going to reject his invitation.
After a brief hesitation, Bai Xi Xi finally nodded.
