Chapter 896 Chrysanthemum Again
After Dusk and Kyran came to an agreement, the latter tried to contact his Servants once more. But as earlier, he failed to establish that connection.
This result intensified Kyran's growing fear.
Seeing a rare forlorn expression on Kyran, Dusk asked, "What is it?"
Kyran did not respond immediately and deliberated on how much he should say. But then, an idea crossed his mind, prompting him to look at Dusk and reply with his own question.
"Your subjects, are they part of the Magical Beast Community?"
"Where else could they be part of? Beast-like and complete beings dominate this plane. How do you expect other creatures to mingle with them—?"
"Can you contact them now?"
Dusk frowned at Kyran's bossy attitude. But ultimately, he snorted a curt response of "Yes" since he saw the latter's trepidation.
"Please, tell them to meet with Lady Chrysanthemum and pass her this message..."
Dusk failed to register what Kyran said right after hearing the name of one of the leaders of the Magical Beast Community.
Rather than failing to register, it was like his mind lagged a few seconds, making him unable to comprehend what Kyran had said at once.
Kyran saw Dusk's blank look, and not wanting to waste time explaining himself, he promised to explain everything later.
In the end, Dusk managed to get hold of himself and contacted one of his trusted subjects, who happened to be the same one who witnessed Kyran being captured by a being from that realm.
For the record, if Kyran were not worried about the situation on Malek's side, he would have noticed how Dusk carefully used the terms being and realm when referring to the culprit who assaulted him and not only the part about the latter knowing about Dimension.
Dusk was relieved that Kyran did not pursue that subject because he would have suffered an earful from the scolding of Axil and the other leaders of the Guardians.
One should understand that there are things those in the know should not speak of in front of others that are not in the know. If not, they will suffer the consequences of the Fates' wrath.
To ensure Kyran would not remember that, Dusk got to work and contacted his subject.
It did not take long for them to receive a response. Apparently, Lady Chrysanthemum was having a hard time because the other Magical Beast Community Leaders were putting much pressure on her. After all, they knew about her recent visit to the Armakea Border.
Although more than a month had passed since then, the other leaders suspected Chrysanthemum of plotting against them, mainly because when Achim and Kesiah's rebellion was revealed, she had just proposed for their side to be less receptive to any of King Aran's requests. Because if things went on like that, they would only become his dogs.
Proposing that was supposed to be Chrysanthemum's first move before convincing them to keep a neutral stance once an all-out war between Kyran and the King happened.
Lamentably, before she could see any results from her first move, Achim and Kesiah's rebellion was revealed, placing the Magical Beast Community in a bind.
They were Armakea's allies and feared the King would request their assistance to stop Achim and Kesiah's rebellion.
The rebellion and Chrysanthemum's proposal were so timely that the community leaders could not help but smell a conspiracy involved.
If the leaders had agreed to Chrysanthemum's proposal, once King Aran requested their assistance and they showed reluctance, there was a good chance he would send his aides and punish them. When that happened, what would become of their weak members?
From this, they believed Chrysanthemum's proposal was a ploy to have their community suffer.
Alas, they failed to think logically because of the fear most community leaders felt toward King Aran.
In the first place, why would Chrysanthemum do something in a round to put their community in harm's way? Besides, most of them frowned at the idea when she shared her proposal. Still, she did not press on and only left the discussion for a later time. Would she have acted like that if she genuinely wanted to put the community in danger? No. She would have argued her point and roused the support of those community leaders who were indebted to her.
Most importantly, why would King Aran even ask for their assistance in resolving the matter of Achim and Kesiah's rebellion? The community leaders were worried King Aran would send his aides to punish them if they did not agree to assist. Still, the question was, why would King Aran bother to do that when he could order his aides to resolve the rebellion themselves?
King Aran was arrogant. He would not ask for help on matters he could resolve himself.
Chrysanthemum's situation was not entirely hopeless. Since the community leaders did not have proof to indict her, they had not done anything rash. It also helped that King Aran had not sent any messenger to visit them since the rebellion started.
Nevertheless, Chrysanthemum remained on edge. She did not know how to explain herself to her people nor let Kyran know of her situation. She even entertained the idea of inviting him to the community and letting him talk to the rest of the leaders instead.
Because Chrysanthemum felt out of sorts when Dusk's subject requested an audience, she initially declined. But when she learned the latter had an important message from an outsider, she invited her in immediately.
While the message might not necessarily come from Kyran, especially when there were too many outsiders in Somuli, Chrysanthemum had only ever made contact with one. Thus, she was 99% confident that the message was from him. As for the remaining 1%— well, she could never be too sure.
Chrysanthemum and Dusk's subject, a translucent figure that seemed to sway with the wind and was named Aniah, went to the receiving area of the former's quarters. Inside was a low round table with eight seat cushions around it.
Chrysanthemum sat on the other side of the table while Aniah sat opposite hers.
As soon as Ania sat down, she waved her hand and took out a communication device Dusk gave her.
"I need your help," was Kyran's greeting the moment his silhouette emerged from the device.
Chrysanthemum was taken aback at this. But she recovered immediately and said, "I also need your help."
"After this, whatever it is you need my help with will no longer matter," Kyran replied. Not giving her a chance to refute his words, he continued, "We are almost done with the operation, but I have trouble contacting one of our groups. I need your help to check on them."
"You..." Chrysanthemum could not help but let out an exasperated sigh. She obviously knew what he wanted her to do. But did he forget that there was no way for them to use their own 'route' because Somuli did not have a parallel plane they could traverse?
"I'll create that route," Kyran told her, seemingly reading what was on her mind. Actually, just by seeing her exasperated look, it was easy to guess what was on her mind. "Please, this is urgent."
Kyran's attitude made Chrysanthemum pause. She initially wanted to argue, but hearing the sincerity in his voice when he pleaded just now made her hesitate.
Thinking back on it, she already had an inkling about Kyran's true identity. However, she did not want to assume without any proof. While the place where he sent her previously could be considered proof, she still had some doubts. Her doubts were mainly because she found him not domineering enough.
It was not about Kyran's presence lacking a domineering aura but more about his seemingly weak approach to accomplishing his objective. He possessed such powerful magic, yet why was he not making full use of it?
Chrysanthemum more or less guessed that maybe Kyran wanted to keep a low profile. But could that even be possible when he wanted to conquer Armakea, the most powerful nation in Somuli?
Shaking her head, Chrysanthemum pushed all unnecessary thoughts aside and looked at Kyran solemnly, "Fine. If you can really do that, then I promise to help you to the utmost of my abilities. But I can't guarantee that we will not be discovered. You have to understand that Knights in Armakea have high perceptions. If we are exposed to them, even if we are still within the specialroute, we'll be discovered."
"That is fine."
"Easy for you to say," she replied with an inelegant snort. "We'll be the ones to suffer if we get discovered."
Kyran shook his head, "That will not happen. My magic's nature will sure to conceal your presence."
"How are you going to do that?"
Kyran did not respond, but his expression turned slightly uncomfortable.
Truthfully speaking, the reason he was confident that Chrysanthemum and her people would not be seen was because they were Spirits.
From Kyran's recent meeting with Caelan, the latter not only taught Void theories but also explained his connection with White Lily. Or, to be more accurate, his connection to all Spirits.
In Caelan's own words, he said, "I vowed to protect all Spirits until the day they returned to their original realm."
He then explained that when he made that vow, he did so as the new Void Master and not White Lily's husband. For short, since Kyran was now the new Void Master, he had to fulfill that vow.
Kyran was vexed when he heard about it and wanted to strangle Caelan to death. Unfortunately, the latter was already dead.
In any case, Kyran finally understood why White Lily and Chrysanthemum were not affected by the dense Void energy inside his Void World and could even circulate their own magic.
Anyone with a way to filter magic energies would not be affected by the Void energies inside the Void World, but because it mostly circulates Void energy, it would be impossible for others to utilize their magic.
However, the Void deemed White Lily and Chrysanthemum's existence as an exception because of Caelan's vow, thus their certain level of immunity from the Void World's law.
Frankly, Kyran did not understand how it worked. Caelan only told him that Spirits were given certain immunity toward Void magic and a certain degree of protection.
Not knowing how to explain that, Kyran chose a very generic statement to assure Chrysanthemum. Yet, the latter had tactlessly asked how he would do that.
It was rather annoying.
In the end, Kyran replied with the most generic response to avoid dwelling on the subject, "I'll explain it all later."
Chrysanthemum sighed, but she nodded in agreement and said, "Alright. Tell me where you want us to go."
