Chapter 875 Acquisition (15)

The officers were not given the chance to stay in shock because Sigma released follow-up attacks.

A light-brown magic array appeared in front of Sigma, and several rectangular blocks of earth emerged from it. Using his fists, he punched the blocks of earth in succession and aimed them at the officers. The blocks crackled as they turned into unit bits and sped toward the approaching officers with a fierce rotation.

The officers did not stand idle. They suppressed their shock, raised their Divine Armaments, and struck the incoming unit bits.

KRRSSHHHH!

However, they underestimated the momentum of the unit bits' rotational force. Piercing sounds filled the air as the officers tried to destroy each unit bits with their Divine Armaments, but ultimately, they failed to do so and were sent back, staggering.

The surface of their Divine Armaments suffered some deep scratches, which inadvertently caused the officers to cough up blood. After all, a Divine Armament was connected to a complete being, and every time it was damaged, the complete being would also suffer.

The moment the first line of their offense was forced back, the next line was already moving forward. Now that they had witnessed the durability and power of the unit bits summoned by the enemy, they were prepared to deal with them.

The best move to deal with a powerful attack was to avoid confronting it with strength. Instead, it was best to divert their trajectory and let it hit a different target.

Sigma sneered as he realized the intentions of the second group of officers. He opened his palms as thin lines of light brown threads appeared at his fingertips. They then connected with each of the unit bits, which he then pulled back before colliding with the second group.

"!"

The second group was shocked when they saw all unit bits returning to the enemy's side.

As if on cue, as soon as Sigma pulled back his unit bits, three Conclave members behind him summoned their magic. Three red magic arrays appeared right at the ground where the second group of officers stood, and a wall of flames erupted from them.

"ARGH!"

The officers screamed in pain as their whole bodies were engulfed by the flames.

Seeing this scene, the group of knights, who were approaching the enemies from two different sides, stopped in their tracks and unleashed their magic attacks using their Divine Armaments.

Some of the knights struck their swords on the ground and released ice spikes that slithered toward Noir and the rest.

Noir remained calm and continued to control the miniature array formation on his hand. Even the knights that accompanied them did not make a move and only watched as another group of humans stepped forward to deal with the incoming ice spikes.

Several light-brown magic arrays appeared above and on the ground, as another group of Conclave members summoned Earth magic. Earth spikes emerged from the magic arrays on the ground and collided with the incoming ice spikes while a barrage of arrows molded from Earth magic fell down from the magic array above.

The knights raised their Divine Armaments and summoned ice shields to protect themselves, while those who were not within the barrage of arrows' range made a detour and went after the enemy's rear side.

"Humph," Sigma snorted in displeasure. "What, am I invisible to you guys?"

Sigma manipulated all the unit bits and hurled them toward the knights running at the rear.

When the knights saw the incoming unit bits, they knew they could not simply avoid them. Thus, they unleashed their magic attacks to reduce their momentum. Some of the knights possessed Fire magic, but most of them possessed Ice magic. Those with Fire elements chose to avoid the unit bits, while those with Ice elements unleashed a gale of snow as they planned to stop all the unit bits' rotation.

While this was happening, the rest of the knights, especially the Legendary ones, also rushed forward.

Because of Sigma's initial attack, the enemies' formation was sent into disarray. Nevertheless, they were still able to attack in groups and not hinder each other.

Seeing how Sigma was disrupting the group of knights that wanted to attack the rear, the Legendary-level knight with the great sword targeted him. Using his robust body and powerful legs, he jumped several meters toward Sigma with his arms raised, holding the great sword. Flames erupted around the great sword just before he struck at Sigma.

Sigma had his back on the knight during the whole process. But before the knight's great sword landed, Sigma raised his right arm and blocked the strike. He then shifted his weight while turning his torso to face the knight and sent out a punch using his left fist.

The knight managed to withdraw his great sword before Sigma could turn. He then brought down the great sword and struck the latter's fist.

BAM!

A shockwave of energy exploded as Sigma's fist and the knight's great sword collided. Cracks appeared on the ground beneath them after receiving the brunt of the shockwaves' force.

In another location, when the operation in Larkring started, Gael and his shadow minions also commenced their attack. Unlike the commotion happening in Larkring, however, Gael's operation was noiseless.

Since the last moon of the Somuli's four moons had yet to disappear completely, the shadows around the forest were still prominent. As a matter of fact, because the Armakea forest was filled with thick trees, there were still plenty of shadows even in daylight.

Using the shadows, Gael's minions located the Arch Magus-level knights. After finding their locations, Gael did not make a move at once. He had his minions monitor the movements of the fifty Legendary-level knights among the enemy first. After which, he relayed their positions to Kesiah and Gaham, the two helpers that Kyran sent to accompany Gael.

Gaham was sweating buckets because he had never expected he would sortie at such a dangerous location. Did they not leave the fort because they wanted to avoid confronting this group? Why was he there now? Not to mention, he had to assist the Princess in confronting fifty Legendary-level Knights. He did not have any death wish, okay? Yet, Kyran seemed keen on sending them to their deaths.

Seemingly sensing Gaham's trepidation, Kesiah looked at him with a slight smile.

'You do not have to worry,' she assured him, not forgetting to communicate with him telepathically to avoid being detected by the enemy nearby.

Gaham smiled wryly at the princess's words, unsure whether it was meant to encourage him or mock him.

'To be honest, our task is quite easy,' Kesiah went on.

Black lines appeared on Gaham's forehead after hearing the princess. He could not help but say, 'Princess, forgive my rudeness. However, I think we have a very different definition of an easy task.'

Before Kesuah could reply, Gael emerged from the shadows behind Gaham.

'Are you two ready?' Gael asked them, also communicating with them telepathically.

'Yes,' Kesiah responded.

'Then, I will bait them using my minion. Then I will leave it to you both to lure them.'

'Don't worry.'

Gaham immediately frowned after hearing Gael. He turned to look at Gael before asking, ''Lure them?''

.cοm Kesiah could not help but chuckle inwardly at Gaham's reaction.

'What did you think we're about to do?'

Gaham looked at Kesiah and replied, 'Are we not going to confront them?'

'Yes,' Kesiah replied with a nod. 'Only so we can lure them away.'

Gaham's brow twitched. If it was only luring, then it would not be a problem. However, was it really necessary for them to do the task? Would Gael's minions not be enough?

As soon as he thought this, however, he immediately shook his head because he found the question stupid.

From the past few weeks he had been working alongside Kyran, Gaham was more or less aware of what the man Gael, who seemed to be Kyran's trusted aide, could do. Frankly, he found Gael's Shadow magic very potent. The way Gael used his magic was very different from how the Kingdom of Cretea's Shadow mages did.

Moreover, Gaham was fascinated at how real Gael's minions were.

For the record, Gaham believed that Gael's minions were Shadow summons and were not real beings that he absorbed.

In any case, no matter how real or even intelligent Gael's minions appeared, they were still summoned. They did not have the capability to attract the attention of those Legendary-level Knights. As a matter of fact, a flick of their fingers might be enough to deal with them.

Considering this, Kesiah and Gaham, whose level and Divine Armament had the ability to endure an attack from a Legendary-level Knight, were far more effective at luring them.

Gaham sighed inwardly as he finally nodded and said, 'I understand. Then please follow my lead, Princess. I will not allow any harm to come your way.'

'You do not have to protect me, Gaham. Just do your best to stay alive after we lure them. We have to take them to that place, no matter what.'

The place Kesiah referred to was a trap that she and Gael set up. That trap could deal with those knights with no problem.
