Chapter 838 Intervention

Kyran did not know what the hooded person meant by a 'nesi,' but one thing was sure: it did not bode well. As a matter of fact, everything about the hooded person was different from his expectations.

The hooded person had said things that Kyran, with his vast knowledge of different branches of magic, did not understand. It was not to say that he knew everything, but at the very least, he would have recognized the terms 'dimension' or 'nesi.'

Kyran more or less had an idea about what the hooded person meant about dimension, but he had an inkling the latter's meaning was an entirely new concept to what he was familiar with.

The hooded person fell silent, giving Kyran some time to assess his situation and devise a plan on how to escape. Unfortunately, the hooded person seemed to be in control of Kyran's body even though it removed his restrictions.

The only consolation in Kyran's situation was the fact that he could still circulate his Void magic. However, he could not cast it and summon Void weapons. He also could not take weapons out of his storage pouch. Actually, he could not even establish a connection with True Void or even his Void World.

Kyran's eyes narrowed as he started to understand what the hooded person meant about 'his dimension.'

Utilizing his four senses, with the exception of his sight, Kyran observed the surroundings. Contrary to his initial assessment that the surroundings had been devoid of sounds, there were still sounds, but only within a certain radius around the hooded person. If not, Kyran would not have been able to hear the hooded person speak. Because he was positive, it was talking to him in person and not telepathically.

Next, the matter of how the trees or boulders he crashed into remained intact when, a second earlier, they were destroyed upon collision. It seemed the thin translucent veil Kyran sensed earlier had something to do with it. It might be part of the dimension the hooded person mentioned. That translucent veil separated them from the real dimension of Somuli's plane and created a similar one. Thus, the destroyed trees, boulders, and even the landscape occurred within the dimension. The real dimension, or Somuli's plane, was unaffected by what occurred inside the hooded person's dimension.

It was also because of this that Kyran lost his connection with True Void and the Void World. The hooded person's veil could not touch or influence True Void and the Void World, thus, they were not brought inside the dimension.

The more Kyran thought of this, the more he believed it to be true. This also made him realize that his Void magic had a limitation on outside influence. Initially, Kyran believed that any harmful spell or invisible force would be nullified by his Void magic. Apparently, that was not the case.

Then again, maybe the limitation of his Void magic had something to do with his level. Unfortunately, without understanding how to gauge his own magic level, it was impossible for him to make adjustments or even strengthen himself.

"You are very calm," the hooded person finally spoke after a moment's silence.

Kyran chose to remain silent.

"Do you not understand the situation you are in, right now?"

...

"So you chose to feign silence. A rather smart move yet a futile one."

The hooded person then grabbed Kyran's head. A crushing force invaded his mind, which threatened to break his brain to smithereens.

Kyran was inwardly shocked. He had assumed the hooded person's telekinesis from when he got slammed around like a toy to be its innate ability. But judging by the crushing force that was now invading his mind, this might be its innate ability instead.

'Ngh...!'

Kyran steeled himself. No matter how much pain the crushing force inflicted on his mind, he endured it. He did not even let out a grunt of agony, even though his knees had already buckled from the excruciating pain. As a matter of fact, he felt as if he had blacked out for a few instances.

"You are truly a marvel," the hooded person continued. "You are not from #$*, yet you managed to get hold of the Heart of the Cosmos. How?"

Kyran's eyes had already turned bloodshot from the torturous pain in his head. A faint trail of blood also started to cascade down one of his nostrils. Nevertheless, he endured and maintained his silence.

"I have misjudged your body's tenacity. Originally, I believed you to be similar to a newly hatched dragon, but apparently, you are more tenacious than them. If I had to reassess your physical ability, then it is comparable to a month-old baby dragon. Or maybe two?

"In any case, you may endure all you want, but you will not be able to avoid thinking of the answer when you are asked. Now, please, enlighten me: how did you get hold of the Heart of the Cosmos?"

Only then did Kyran realize that the crushing force was not meant to torture his mind, forcing him to answer the hooded person. It was meant to squeeze the answer directly from his memories.

Kyran knew a mage with Memory magic could accomplish a similar feat Memory Searching Spell. But he did not expect that someone could possess such an innate ability. He never considered the hooded person's magic to be Memory magic because the things it did thus far could not be associated with such magic. For this reason, Kyran was convinced that the memory-searching the hooded person was currently doing was an innate ability.

The hooded person's head slightly tilted again as if in confusion.

"How are you able to maintain an empty thought under pressure? Or could it be that the pressure was far too powerful that it already removed your ability to think?"

The hooded person shook its head.

"No. It is impossible. Or... could this be the work of the Heart of the Cosmos?" Its voice shook slightly at the sudden realization.

The hooded person dropped Kyran at once. He keeled over and vomited blood and other bodily fluids. He even vomited some of the food he ate a few hours ago. Since it had been some time, most of the food he ate had already turned into a mushy lump of mixture.

Meanwhile, the hooded person fell into contemplation. If the Heart of the Cosmos was blocking the information, it was pointless to torture the target into answering questions. It was best to take him back and let the others do the interrogation.

Actually, they could just skip the interrogation and go straight into taking the Heart of the Cosmos out of his body.

"Since this is the case, it is no longer expedient for me to interrogate you for answers. We shall return to the #$* and!"

CRACKLE! BOOM!

The hooded person raised its scepter just in time to summon a barrier to block a bolt of red lightning. Its eyes narrowed as it realized that a huge tear appeared on the veil that covered the surroundings.

"What is this? I took my eyes off you for a few years, and now you have regressed to such a state?"

A lanky man in a long red coat hovered cross-legged in midair as he looked down at Kyran.

The lanky man was none other than Ruin.

Kyran begrudgingly wiped his mouth and looked up. He expected Ruin's essence to find him soon, but not in this situation. Frankly, he did not know whether to be grateful or not.

"And what's this?" Ruin finally looked at the hooded person, and his red eyes narrowed at once. "How is a person from #$* here?"

"A survivor of the Demon Clan," the hooded person replied with a voice full of icy loathing. "Do not interfere with our business."

"No can do, that is my prey down there."

"Are you saying you plan to defy the Emperor?"

"I don't give a d*mn about that Emperor of yours. You guys destroyed my plane, or did you forget?"

"Demon chose the wrong side. You know the consequences of his action. As his subject, you are a failure."

Crackle! Boom!

Another red lightning struck the hooded person.

However, the hooded person was quick. It raised its scepter and blocked the red lightning once more.

And that was all Kyran needed. In that split moment, he sped out of the tear from the translucent veil.

Seeing Kyran running out of the veil, Ruin raised his hand and a black mist formed around him. The black mist turned into a huge hand that went straight at Kyran, wanting to grab him.

Kyran, however, already anticipated Ruin's move and immediately employed the Dragon Step to avoid the black mist. Then he took out his token and activated it before any of them could grab hold of him.

"Ah, geez, see what you did? You let my prey escape!" Ruin feigned annoyance as he glared at the hooded person.

On the other hand, the hooded person remained silent. It stared at Ruin for a few seconds, before turning around and leaving.
