Cain did not know why he took his time into the mirror. He was nervous to think that it was not the first time he would meet Kimmy's family.
As soon as he got satisfied with his look, he immediately went out of his room and walked straight to Princess Leila's private room to pick up the two ladies.
He pressed the doorbell, and it was aunt Leila who opened the door.
"Congratulations, dear!" Leila greeted him with a hug as soon as aunt Leila saw him.
"Thank you, Aunty," Cain answered with a smile.
"Ah, goodness… Let's go ahead, shall we? I'm starving," Kimmy complained as she walked ahead of the two.
Leila and Cain chuckled as they followed Kimmy.
"Ah, my daughter is so lucky to have you, Cain. You're so sweet and thoughtful... I mean, I saw the photos and the videos, including the big panda you got for Kimmy! I am delighted that Kimmy picked you! You two look so good together! Your father will not bug you anymore about going out on a date!"
Cain had a timid smile when Aunt Leila spared no moment in teasing him. He, too, was very happy that Kimmy chose him.
"Stop that, mom. Look how red his face is," Kimmy scolded. For sure, she and Cain would be the center of the conversation during breakfast.
"Well, I'm just stating the facts. If you only knew how your uncle Daniel would bug him every day to get a girlfriend. I'm sure he will be so happy. I can't wait to tell him the good news, but Cain should do it first," Leila commented with a grin as they walked in the hallway towards the dining area.
She still recalled how Daniel would complain to her whenever she would visit him how Cain married his work that he never listened to whenever he would ask his son to go out and get a love life. Well, it turned out to be an advantage for her and her daughter since Cain might probably be waiting for Kimmy's return. Leila could not help but inwardly squeal for her daughter.
They soon arrived at the dining area, and everyone was already present. Cain was nervous for the first time in his life. Leila could not help but inwardly squeal for her daughter.
"Oh, glad you can join us!" Gavin greeted Cain.
Cain gave his respect to the King and the elders as well, like uncle Lucas and Sean.
Brione greeted Kimmy and aunty Leila. She had a teasing smile towards Kimmy as she whispered, "Hmm, I wonder why Cain is with us?"
Leila giggled as she watched how her daughter's face reddened.
"Oh, we're officially in a relationship now," Kimmy timidly answered.
"That's great! Congratulations," Brione said and hugged Kimmy. She was glad Kimmy chose Cain in the end.
"Cain seems to be a nice man, and you two look so good together," Brione commented.
Kimmy did not need to announce it since Leila was the one who did it. Her mother was so excited to tell everyone the news, so she let her mother do it.
"So, Kimmy asked Cain to join us here for breakfast to formally tell us that she and Cain are now in a relationship!" Leila commented and even proposed a toast for the two.
"I thought Cain has a competitor, but I guess he has a charm that our Kimmy could not ignore," Lucas teased.
"Father, Cain probably used his hypnotism tricks on Kimmy!" Gavin commented in jest.
Brione elbowed her husband and yet joined the teasing as she added, "Ah, it's too plain and simple. You can see it in their eyes. These two are obviously in love with each other, so I'm really glad that they are now official."
Cain bashfully chuckled while Kimmy blushed.
"Where is Edward? We should have a dinner celebration and tell Edward to come over too," out of the blue, Lucas commented with a creased forehead.
Kimmy and her mother had a quick exchange of meaningful glances. Leila smiled at her brother Lucas and said, "I will tell him to stop by here and have dinner later. Kimmy just told me about it this morning, and I haven't informed Edward about it."
"I see… I rarely see your husband, Leila. Is he so busy at work nowadays?" Lucas asked, and Leila only nodded.
Sean heaved a quiet sigh. Leila promised him last night that she would tell her brother Lucas everything within the day. He glanced at Leila once in a while., She smiled and laughed a lot with the family, but nobody knew how broken she was inside.
Sean was so busy checking Leila that he did not notice how another pair of eyes keenly observed him in secret.
Kimmy shook her head. She just noticed it now… How Uncle Sean looked at mother. She wondered if her mother was aware of it. She could not help but compare Uncle Sean to her father. Kimmy unconsciously sighed.
"What's wrong?" Cain worriedly whispered. He noticed Kimmy was in deep thought while eating.
"Later, I will tell you," Kimmy whispered back.
Meanwhile, none of the family opened thing about Cain and Kimmy getting engaged or topic about wedding plans. It was because Leila warned them last night about it. She did not want Kimmy to feel pressured about the situation.
So Leila asked them all over dinner not toot to mention anything about engagement and wedding plans and just let Kimmy and Cain be the ones to tell them about it, like how Kimmy announced her relationship with Cain at that moment.
As soon as they finished eating breakfast, everyone left to go to attend to their works. Cain bid his farewell to others.
"You should walk Cain to his car," Leila said to Kimmy, and the latter only nodded. Leila watched Kimmy and Cain's back as they headed to the hallway going to the parking lot.
"Princess," Sean whispered. He stood beside Leila.
"Yes, I know. I will now go to my brother and tell him everything. I will apologize to you now in advance since I'm sure he will scold you for keeping things away from him but don't worry, I will make sure he will not scold you hard," Leila said with a smile.
Sean smiled back and said, "I don't mind getting scolded, Princess Leila. I'm just glad to see you smile right now. I only hope what is best for you, and please always remember that I'll always be here for you."
Leila nodded and said, "Go now and work, Sean. I can handle this, and I will now go to my brother."
Leila exhaled loudly, and then she turned around and walked to follow her brother, who went back to his room. She honestly did not want to burden her brother anymore. Yet her brother should still know about it, especially now that she decided to divorce Edward.
Leila released another sigh because of the scandal her marriage problem could bring to the royal family. She felt terrible for Gavin, who was the one who would shoulder this.. She could only hope that others would not use this to create more problems for Gavin, who was currently doing a great job as the new King.
