The after-party soon ended, and guests from other countries left first. Some of the cabinet members headed out, but the royal guards stopped them and asked them to return, saying the King had a few more words to give to the government officials. But the royal guards made sure they all escorted the media out.
"Are we not allowed to leave yet? What is going on? Why do I feel like there is something wrong here?" asked one of the Cabinet Members with a confused expression.
"I guess so… Maybe His Majesty has something more to say to us, his officials," Ryza commented since she noticed that all cabinet members and government ministers were the only ones still inside the hall.
She looked at Gavin, wondering what it could be. She was disappointed to know that Cedric was not around. Gavin did not disclose Cedric's whereabouts, but he confirmed before that Cedric would soon come back, and the people of country B would be the first to know.
Ryza sighed and then looked at Olivia, the woman who was a significant threat to her goal… Cedric's heart. It was one of the reasons why she did her best to join the Royal Councils, to get closer to Cedric, but how unlucky she could be that the reigning King now was only Cedric's twin. Ryza heaved a long sigh as she watched their new King walk to the center stage.
All eyes were on the new King, waiting on what he was about to say. Gavin looked at everyone before him and spoke.
"I am grateful for all of you who joined us here for this special event in our family and our country. I am thankful for all your presence. I am sure all of you wonder why the royal guards did not let you guys out yet. It was because a military police operation was taking effect as of this moment."
Everyone's murmuring buzzed inside the hall.
"As you can see, I wanted a thorough clean-up in the government, in the military, and the police the moment I assumed this position as your King. I will not allow anyone who has any involvement with the man responsible for numerous crimes in my family unpunished. People who have a connection and by all means helping Duncan with all his illegal works and crimes in this country will be arrested this instant."
"The investigation is very confidential. Thus, we intentionally keep it to people and let the people we could trust handle this task. We have all the evidence needed and authorization for this arrest, so I hope you all cooperate well so no one would get hurt."
Gavin signaled the military policemen to enter the hall.
Everyone was shocked as the door swung open. Military men went inside and started arresting everyone that had a connection with Duncan.
Every military police approached the officials having a connection with Duncan.
"Minister Park, you are under arrest for helping out a criminal and helping his illegal organization operating in illegal drugs…"
"OMG!" Berry burst as she heard some of the cases involving those officials that were being arrested. She and Mitch gulped. They never thought Gavin could be this sharp too in eliminating his enemies at the government openly like this the moment he wore the crown!
Kevin, with the royal guards, approached them since they were with the royal family.
"What is going on?" Lucas asked. He was utterly surprised by what was happening. He was not aware of this operation inside the palace. All he knew was Zach's team would take down Duncan's headquarters today.
"Your Majesty. We are to escort you to a safe place. Please come with us." Brione held his father-in-law's arm.
Meanwhile, Noah held Damiel and said, "don't worry, uncle. I will stay with you. It's just precautionary measures since the military has an ongoing operation to tear down Duncan's headquarters, including his underlings. These men will just escort us all to safety."
"What?!" Damiel could only nod. He was too shocked by what he was witnessing.
"Is this necessary? Aren't we in any rooms like Gavin's wing or King Lucas?" Damiel asked when the royal guards escorted them in a different direction and not into the private wings of Gavin nor Lucas.
"Yes, uncle, but we are not sure if Duncan has anything planned today. It's better to be safe."
"King Gavin prepared a safer area in the palace that only trusted people knew about," Kevin explained as Kevin led them out of the hall.
"What is this! Stop this nonsense!" One of the cabinet members shouted as the military policemen arrested him. He was not the only one, but a few members of cabinets and ministers, including some government officials.
Olivia creased her forehead as she waited for the military police to approach her since she was also Duncan's underling. But instead of the military officer, Gavin walked towards her and said, "Olivia, please come with me?"
Olivia only nodded and, without asking why followed Gavin. She must admit that Gavin acted fast. Who would do such a thing on the day of the coronation day? Gavin surely planned this operation well. It was a good thing for her since eliminating Duncan once and foremost was the priority on her list. The man who killed her brother… she wanted to see him go down.
"What is going on?" Olivia asked as they entered the room and saw military police officers inside, including Gavin's father and Brione. She was utterly confused. Then she saw a wide glass ahead. There was another room, and she could see from the wide glass people inside that room.
"Don't worry, they won't see us," Gavin said. It was a two-way glass for interrogation purposes such as now.
"What is this, Gavin?" Olivia asked as she confusedly stared at the adjacent room.
"You will find out soon.. For now, wait here with the military and the rest," Gavin instructed.
