-UNEDITED-

Kimmy was feeling a bit unsettled.

"Is he mad? But his voice sounded calm," she whispered as she stared at the screen of her mobile phone. She felt something off that Cain agreed to what she said just like that. He seemed to be the persistent type lately, so how come he was not like that today.

She should be happy since Cain no longer pester her into something he wanted to do, but she felt bothered instead.

"Should I call him and say that he can pick me up and drop me off?" she anxiously mumbled.

She heaved a sigh and then stared at her reflection in the mirror. She was sitting in front of her vanity mirror brushing her hair when Cain called. She put her mobile phone on the table and grabbed the brush, and continued brushing her hair instead.

She made another sigh, still wondering what Cain was feeling with her refusal.

"Ah!!! This is killing me! Why am I overthinking about this nonsense!" she lamented as she grabbed her mobile phone again, stood up, and stomped, walking on her bed.

She comfortably sat on the bed and rested her back on the headrest while she scrolled the internet on her mobile phone, looking at Kenzie's social media where she could see the latest photos of Harry.

"He lost weight," she mumbled. She did not bother to look at his picture since she left since she was hurt and wanted to get over Harry as fast as possible. It was the first time a man turned her down, and she was disappointed.

Kimmy thought she already gave all the patience she got, everything she could do to win Harry's heart, but it was not enough. As Harry said, he was a hard man, and being in a relationship was not in his vocabulary since he was not confident he could handle one.

Of course, she did not buy that, so she still pursued him, but he turned her down for good, threatening her that he would run away even from his family if she would not stop chasing him.

"Tsk! I should not see you!" She barked, realizing how Harry made her suffer all those times. She did not know why she was too drawn to Harry… But Kimmy felt like Harry needed someone like her in his life at that time. Yet, she was wrong because, apparently, Harry did not need someone like her.

She bit her lip as a conflicted emotion dwelled again in her heart. Her mobile phone beeped, and it was a message from Harry.

[Goodnight, Kimmy. I hope to see you tomorrow. Thank you for agreeing to see me…]

She almost forgot that she replied to Harry a while ago that she was available to see him. She should see him and see how she would feel…

After some more minutes, Kimmy closed her eyes, ready to sleep early, when the door opened, and it was her mother.

"You're sleeping early," Leila commented.

Kimmy smiled and said, "you're just in time, mom. Let's sleep early. I still have work tomorrow."

Leila joined her on her bed and hugged Kimmy as she mumbled, "ahh. I miss hugging my big baby!"

Kimmy laughed and said, "I'm no longer a baby mom."

"Yeah, right. You're a full-grown woman now…" Leila stated.

"By the way. Don't you want to work somewhere else instead? A more challenging one like putting up your own business? Something like that since you're a business administration and accounting graduate." Leila suggested.

"Hmm, I will try that after three months. You see, I feel bad for what happened to uncle Daniel and the humiliation Cain faced when I ran away, so I want to help them with simple things for free. So I'm assisting Cain for three months," Kimmy confessed.

Leila no longer pondered since she already decided to back her daughter up for what she wanted to do. She would suggest things but would not insist on it to her daughter.

Even though Leila was dying of curiosity, she managed to tone down in asking questions to Kimmy. She was cautious in her words too.

Kimmy's mobile phone suddenly rang, and Leila had a glimpse of who it was when Kimmy grabbed it on the bedside table and answered it.

It was Cain.

"Hello," Kimmy answered, wondering why Cain called all of a sudden.

"I am outside your house. Do you think you can come out and see me for a while?"

"Huh?" Kimmy breathed as she turned to look at her mother, who was keenly watching her.

She did not want to debate with Cain before her mother, so she quickly said, "Alright. I'll be there shortly."

"Is there something wrong?" Leila asked, a bit worried.

"Oh, no, mom. Cain needs something to talk to with me in person. You authorized him to enter in our vicinity anytime?"

"Oh, yeah, why? She's our family doctor, so he can enter inside the gate whenever he wants. Wait, is there a problem?" Leila replied. She was curious about what was going on.

Kimmy paused and then mumbled, "Nothing to worry about, mom. It won't take long, and I will be right back quickly. Sleep first."

Leila watched her daughter put just a robe over her sleeping wear nightgown before she left the room.

"She's meeting him like that?" she mumbled in disbelief. Who would meet someone in her sleeping wear?

But then her daughter was old enough for her to meddle in those kinds of affairs, plus she trusted Cain, so she must make herself at ease and sleep.

Leila's curiosity was killing her. She got up on the bed and quietly went out of the room. She would take a quick look only. She was about to go down the stairs when she halted.

"Ah, this is wrong. I should go back to the bed instead," Leila whispered. Instead of turning around, Leila quietly went down the stairs. She creased her forehead when the living room was empty. Kimmy and Cain were not there. One servant came from the entrance door, so she asked, "Have you seen Kimmy?"

"Yes, Madame. She went inside Doctor Cain's car, and they left."

"What?!"
