Cain was left with his father, Daniel. "Father, can I talk with you?"

"Of course you can, son," His father replied with a smile as they entered the living room. He sat on the sofa before he asked, "What do you want to talk about?"

?

"It's about Kimmy," Cain started. "She has always valued her privacy and freedom among all else so, she was hoping if we could keep quiet about her stay here. She told me earlier that she didn't want her mother to find out about her whereabouts."

"Are they not on good terms?" Daniel asked, quite surprised at what his son was saying.

He shook his head and sighed before he continued, "I don't know, father. She hasn't given me the details. Maybe they are, maybe they're not?

But she seems to be escaping her mother. According to what she said, if her mother found out that she was here, she would be forced to leave this place just to run away again."

Daniel was quiet for a few seconds as he processed his son's words. He soon sighed helplessly before he finally agreed, "Fine, I won't tell anyone that she's here."

"Thanks, Dad," Cain said with a small smile. "I will inform everyone working in this place about keeping their lips shut as well so that no word will come out of this place."

His father nodded in agreement. "Son, what do you think about Kimmy? What are your intentions on her?"

"I don't have any intentions, dad. She was the one who offered to work for me. I don't think I can just reject her if she wants to make up for what happened."

Daniel heaved out a deep sigh. Well, if his son won't confess then at least Kimmy being in the place would give him a good opportunity to start. He really liked Kimmy after all and he was hoping that one day, things could go well for them.

After having their conversation, Cain excused himself and went to his room. He eyed the door of the room beside his room for a few seconds before he walked straight to his room.

Meanwhile, after Kimmy had unpacked her things, she decided to take a shower and after she did, she changed into her nightwear. A plain oversize shirt. She didn't have underwear on since she would be sleeping anyway. Besides, she made sure to lock the door. She didn't want Cain to suddenly barge and even occupy the rest of her privacy.

She decided to look around. Her room was just as big as her apartment. She had her own bookshelf and as well as her vanity table. Her closet was so big that it still felt empty even after she had placed her clothes inside.

After drying her hair, she decided to lay down on her bed as she waited. She was tired and getting some sleep should help her regain her strength and yet, her eyes won't even wink a sleep so she decided to walk towards the balcony and gazed down at the garden below her.

She sighed inwardly and closed her eyes as she felt the cool breeze against her face. Kimmy didn't think that she would be staying in such a place. It was not like she was uncomfortable but since she was still not used to her new room, she couldn't feel the sleepiness visiting her body.

"Why are you still awake?"

Huh? Why could she still hear Cain's voice right now? Her mind must be playing tricks on her. Kimmy's eyes were shut as she was enjoying the cool breeze. 'Kimmy, stop thinking of him. Don't let him ruin your mood.'

"Are you deaf or what?" Cain's voice was once again heard.

This time, Kimmy covered her ears thinking that it was just her imagination. "I'm deaf. I can't hear a thing right now."

The man standing at the neighboring balcony was speechless as he looked at Kimmy in disbelief.

Kimmy inhaled another breath of fresh air. "Hm, I feel better now." She turned away and went back to her room. She did not notice Cain since had turned the other way.

"I think I should drink milk to help me fall asleep…" she mumbled to herself. She looked at the wall clock in her room and saw that it was already almost midnight. Everyone was probably asleep by now so she decided to leave the room and head to the kitchen.

While she was preparing the drink, Cain entered the room and was surprised to see her there. "You're still awake?

Kimmy was startled when she heard his voice again. This time, she turned to him and her eyes widened. He really was there! He was not a product of her imagination, wasn't he?

He looked real… and handsome. Cain was wearing a loose polo shirt and his hair was slightly messy which only added to his sexiness.

'Stop drooling over him, Kimmy!' she scolded herself. She shouldn't be having such thoughts towards him. It was weird.

"W-What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be asleep by now?" Kimmy asked, rather nervously. She was caught by him sneaking in the kitchen after all.

"I'm the one who's asking the question. Also, you ignored me earlier."

She blinked a few times in confusion as she echoed, "earlier? What do you mean by earlier?"

"At the balcony," he continued. Just remembering what happened earlier already annoyed him for some reason. How could she just ignore him like that?

Crash!

Kimmy ended up dropping the glass she was holding as she looked at Cain in shock. She was still staring at him with wide eyes, not noticing that she had already dropped the glass. "So… I was not hearing things earlier?"

"Kimberly!" Cain's voice snapped her out of her thoughts.

Kimmy finally noticed the mess she made on the floor. "AH! I'm sorry!" She quickly bent down to pick the glass shards.

"Wait, don't pick it with your hands, you'll-"

"Ouch!" Kimmy flinched when a shard made a cut on her finger.
