Chapter 460 Ch 460: Opening The Gate

At the end of a deep valley loomed a colossal, ominous gate, shrouded in darkness. This valley remained hidden from the outside world due to a formidable defensive barrier.

Remarkably, this barrier was not ordinary; it was crafted and activated by the Abyssals, lending it a unique and unsettling quality. The runes inscribed upon the barrier emanated a sinister aura, exuding Abyssal Energy that tainted the surrounding environment. While primarily defensive in nature, the barrier also emitted dense black gas, obscuring visibility to the point where nothing could be discerned beyond its veil. This thick fog of darkness seemed impervious even to the influence of the Rules of Chaos, suggesting an inherent antagonism between the two forces.

A light flashed and a figure appeared right at the edge.

Ling Xiaolong stood before the edge of this enveloping black gas and observed it carefully. Despite his abilities, he found himself unable to teleport deeper into the valley due to the oppressive presence of the ominous fog.

The reason Ling Xiaolong came here was to open the gate, enter the unknown land beyond the gate, and exterminate that threatening presence.

From the moment he obtained the Black Eye, both Black and Red Eyes seemed to resonate with the gate. It was as if they wanted to break free of Ling Xiaolong's restraints and come to the gate. They were constantly trembling as if they were alive.

Unable to teleport inside, Ling Xiaolong knew that he had to enter the fog and walk deeper.

Taking a deep breath, Ling Xiaolong took his first step inside.

As he entered the ominous fog, an oppressive atmosphere weighed heavily upon him.

It has to be known that no ordinary thing could pressure Ling Xiaolong anymore. With his strength, he could go anywhere in Chaos without fear.

However, this fog was different. It was specially created by Abyssals to hide and secure the giant gate which, Ling Xiaolong guessed, is the door to the hidden land of Abyssals. So, despite the heavy pressure, he pressed on while driven by his unwavering determination to confront the threatening presence lying beyond the gate.

As he walked deeper into the heart of the valley, the intensity of the Abyssal Energy grew more palpable, permeating the air with its malevolent presence. Yet, Ling Xiaolong remained steadfast. He slowly walked deeper while drawing upon Origin Energy to shield himself from the corrupting influence of the dark energy.

His Origin Energy was golden, unique to himself. The golden Origin Energy doesn't belong to any Master of Chaos, at least not till now. It was extremely pure and a hundred times more powerful.

The reason why his Origin Energy is golden is somehow related to his Primordial Origin Bloodline.

Inside the ominous fog, nothing could be seen normally, but Ling Xiaolong's blue eyes were like a torch, lighting a portion of darkness, enabling him to see a few meters ahead.

However, as he walked deeper, the area he could see ahead started to shorten and very soon, he could not see even a few inches ahead of him.

Finally, he activated the Primordial Origin Eyes. His pupil turned golden while his iris remained blue. Now, he could clearly see inside the fog and continued to walk.

After what felt like an eternity of navigating through the treacherous terrain, Ling Xiaolong finally emerged from the dense fog, standing before an imposing gate. Its towering silhouette cast a long shadow over him, exuding an aura of foreboding.

Undeterred by the ominous presence, Ling Xiaolong steeled himself for the final confrontation.

Surprisingly, hundreds of meters around this imposing gate were void of ominous dark fog. It was the barrier separating the fog from the gate.

Ling Xiaolong could not teleport inside because of this barrier. It was a barrier born from the Abyssal Formation. The runes on the formation were sinister and dark. Even this barrier was unlike holy, it was completely dark and filled with abyssal energy.

Currently, Ling Xiaolong felt like standing in a well of Abyssal Energy. If even a trace of Abyssal Energy managed to invade his body, he'll suffer from a hellish pain and it is unclear whether he could return alive or not. He might also transform into a creature that will be neither a human nor an Abyssal, just like those strange beasts outside.

However, his bloodline was protecting him. The instant Ling Xiaolong entered the dark fog, he felt his bloodline boiling, emanating a mysterious power that surrounded his body, protecting him from the invasion of Abyssal Energy.

Now that he felt like standing in a well of Abyssal Energy, Ling Xiaolong could not help but miss his Infinity Edge Blade. He felt like missing out on an opportunity to further strengthen the blade.

"I'll definitely go to Divine Craftsman Feng Zhiling after this is over."

Ling Xiaolong could not help but mutter. Then he took out both eyes. The black and red eyes were trembling so hard now that they were in front of the barrier that Ling Xiaolong found it extremely difficult to hold.

Suddenly, both eyes started to crazily devour the Abyssal Energy present in the surroundings. As they devoured the Abyssal Energy, Ling Xiaolong could feel them becoming stronger and stronger.

After a few hours of continuous devouring, both eyes started to struggle hard. They wanted to break free of his restraints.

Ling Xiaolong looked at the dark barrier and then at the two eyes. He thought of something and let go of the two eyes.

The two eyes immediately flew toward the gate but were stopped by the barrier. The instant the two eyes touched the barrier, the barrier seemed to have completed the purpose of its existence and crumbled completely.

The two eyes shot at high speed and started hovering in front of the giant gate, continuously spiraling, as if wanting to do or say something.

With the barrier removed, Ling Xiaolong approached the massive gate at a leisurely pace. Paying no heed to the two eyes hovering, he examined the gate closely.

Despite its designation as a gate, it seemed to be a rectangular structure devoid of any visible opening.

Other than no opening, it was filled with all sorts of runes and patterns. Every bit of this gate exudes a sinister aura that could make even Masters of Chaos refrain from touching it. There was a giant face in the middle of the gate. This was the face of an abyssal, with dark skin, and two horns. However, this face was lacking two eyes. Its eyes were empty.

Ling Xiaolong understood that instant what he had to do in order to open the gate.

He looked at the two eyes hovering in front of the abyssal's face. These eyes could not attach themselves to the face, they needed someone's help to put them in their place.

Ling Xiaolong flew in the air and grabbed the black eye first.

As he grabbed the eye, he felt a subtle tug. The black eye guided him, drawing his attention to the vacant left socket. Ling Xiaolong followed the eye's guidance and put it there. Then he did the same with the red eye, slotting it into the empty right socket.

As the two eyes were put in their right place, abyssal energy started to flow out of the face's mouth. Wherever the abyssal energy flowed, the pattern and runes started lighting up. Very soon, the entire door lit up with runes and patterns.

It was also at this moment, the two eyes, that were closed till now, suddenly opened.

As they opened, Ling Xiaolong saw that the black eye had a red pupil while the red eye had a black pupil.

Ting~

A bizarre noise emanated out of the door. A thin line of crack appeared at the three edges of the gate. This crack started to shine with reddish light which seemed to be coming from the other side.

It was then Ling Xiaolong knew that he could now open the gate easily.

With a steady hand, he reached out towards the gate. As he touched the unyielding surface of the giant gate, a surge of power burst out of his body, pushing the door with incredible force.

With a resounding boom, the gate slowly creaked open, revealing the reddish darkness that lay beyond.

As the gate opened, the threatening presence became much stronger. It was as if the owner of that presence was not far from here.

Ling Xiaolong took a deep breath, steeling himself. With unwavering resolve, he stepped past the gate.

As he crossed the gate, he heard some noise at his back.

He turned, only to see that the gate had somehow disappeared. He could no longer see the gate which caught him off guard.

How will he go back now that the gate has disappeared?

Ling Xiaolong could not feel even a trace of Rules of Chaos at this place. This place seemed to only exist to house Abyssals, no other creature was allowed to appear here.

Outside the gate, Ling Xiaolong only felt that he was standing in a well of Abyssal Energy. However, now that he was inside, he felt like standing in an ocean of Abyssal Energy.
